  1. Is this opinion formed from your actual experience? My actual experience is that they are actually successful at stopping nuisance barking that upsets the actual neighbours, when no other method could, thus saving my dogs from the needle.
  2. i was there with a blue bull x and my dog never injured any other dog and i dint see any other blue bull xs there So it wasnt your blue bull x then that raced down the field with its hackles up. itching for a fight.. so it wasnt your blue x that full on body slammed a little whippet type.. which had to be carried off the field.. so it wasnt you who didnt even apologise... sorry mate.. my mistake...perhaps there was another blue bullx owner there after all... atb stabba What way does the racing work then? Do all the dogs run in muzzles? Do they race against similar heights or types
  3. Why don't you borrow the book from a library rather than buy it? I had a look through it at the local library. If you are already experienced and out walking the walk, you probably do not need to buy it.
  4. Last week when my dogs went for yearly vacinations the young vet really went on and on admiring the fit trim condition of my 10 year old dog. When he asked what he was fed on, I told him 'raw' and then he started on about the risks - I pointed to the fit trim 10 year old dog and said 'that'll do for me'.
  5. That is a lot of surgery for an animal to cope with. I wonder if it will have a pain free happy life or be riddled with arthritis in no time? I used to watch 'animal rescue' programme at tea time years ago. It showed animal charities scraping stray cats and dogs off the roads and sticking them back together then putting them up for rehoming. I had problems understanding the amount of money that must have cost, but then again, I suppose it made good tv?
  6. Well then, they will have to step up production of shortbread in tartan tins and whiskey!
  7. I saw pedigree deerhounds at Crufts. They were massive - some were waist high on the handlers. I would think it might be hard to keep a dog with that size of frame sound? Are the real working types a bit smaller?
  8. What's a grebo? Slang for rocker or hells angel or motor bike enthusiaste now we know and im deffo not one of those iv all on on the quad when i take the dogs and its only a little one to get through the stiles atb jenna Well, now we know. I suppose you could be called worse!
  9. Before anyone takes pliers to their dog....PLEASE know the difference between the dew claw nail and the dew claw digit. Pups can have the digit removed at a few days old, for older dogs it is a proper operation to be carried out by a vet!
  10. My terrier injured his repeatedly. Had them taken away completely - the whole thumb, not just the nail bit. He was out of action for a couple of weeks but fine thereafter. Cost £ two years ago.
  11. Should blind/deaf people reproduce? Should those with learning difficulties or with 'special needs' be allowed to reproduce? Should people have 10 kids? It's a big question.
  12. Sounds like some variety of unstable weirdo............probably best avoided. Think of your personal safety first and foremost. Probably wouldn't do any harm to report it to the police, I would.
  13. Did anyone go? I'm just back after 3 days. There were many other things there as well as breed showing and many crossbreed type dogs. There was guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, rescue dogs from Battersea home who worked for customs and military sniffing bombs and drugs, mountain rescue dogs, assistance dogs for the disabled, lots of healthy dogs in the obedience and agility rings, demonstrations by gundogs, children training their dogs for activities. Also good offers on things like wormers etc. There really is so much more there than people prancing round with 'show poni
  14. Build a dog pen to keep your dogs in, that way the yard is kept clean and your dogs are less likely to escape to be flattened on the road. Why can your young lad not help with looking after your dog, that way if he loses interest after a while, like many young ones do, you won't be left with another dog to care for or move on to another home?
  15. Vegans are cruel b******ds......eating all those innocent pulses and vegetables. Shame on them!
  16. Poor dog, having a violent prat like that for an owner.
  17. Maybe some people are giving them away or 'are having to sell because of change of circumstances' because the season is over and they couldn't be bothered with keeping and feeding them over the summer? There are a lot of dogs on the market at the minute.
  18. Im chitting potatoes too. Swift first then pentlan javelin. Ive got onions planted and some more to plant, and shallots. Ive got broad beans in the greenhouse planted in pots too. Fruitwise, I planted some strawberries and rhubarb this week. Good luck with it. I am going to have another go at gardens peas this year, i think i sowed them too late last year and they did not really thrive and then they got eat by snails
  19. Do you have a big garden? It sounds like a real attraction for birds, (but maybe that's not a good thing where fruit is concerned) I do love to see birds in the garden though. I grow my spuds in bags, they seem to do well but do need watered every day, sometimes more than once. I have a pond in my garden, so it's bucket loads of matured water over them every day. It is a great feeling harvesting your own veg.
  20. What else are you planning for this year? I'm chitting spuds at the minute and sowed seeds for tomatoes and peppers.
  21. I took my dogs for their yearly boosters a few years ago and my vet looked at their records and turned me away saying 'those dogs are well enough covered, bring them back next year.' Very honest, I thought.
  22. Well done. It looks like they had a good time.
  23. My rough haired bitch naturally has a big moult in spring/early summer when the hair comes out really easily with a normal comb and a gentle pluck. She loves the grooming and stands well without fussing.
  24. My suggestion is that children are given an injection at the age of ten, which vacinates them against pregnancy for at least fifteen years! This way it saves them from themselves and the lack of education/moral standards from twatish parents until they are of an age when they can make better decisions.
