Ah Well. So much for theory . . . Ric

Ho hum. You are all wrong. All this nonsense about evolution. When Rabbitgod first created the world He made the Vegetable Garden of Eden. He placed Rabbitadam and Rabbiteve in the garden. He told them that were free to enjoy the fruits of the garden. BUT they must never nibble on the leaves of the cabbage of the knowledge of good and evil or taste of the leaves of the cauliflower of the knowledge of life. Yet Unbeknowst even to Rabbitgod, there was a worm in the garden. And Lo one day the worm snuck up to Rabbiteve and said "Tell yer what sweetheart try a bit of this." And Rabbiteve was

On the other hand there was an article on deer stalking in the Indy a few days (Oct 29) ago which was very supportive. Google Independent Newapaper, scroll right down to the bottom of the page, there's a search box for the paper, put in deer stalking. There's probably an easier way but computer literacy is not my strong point. It worked for me just now so wotdafuk Ric

Here we go again. Using mil spec 5.56 in a gun proofed for .223 is a seriously dumb move. Up to you but if you value your face don't do it. Me, I'd go for a .204 but then I'm in love! Ric

Just for the record, wolves, dogs, and coyotes are now all classed as the same species, Canis canis. The different beasts are regarded as sub-species, meaning that they do not interbreed in the wild but can produce fertile offspring in captivity. Dogs, Canis canis canis, include dingoes and African wild dogs. You must all have read about dingoes attacking people? There is no authenticated case of wolves attacking humans, but the more dog-like they get the more dangerous they become. Tragic about the lass, she was obviously a really good person and she had a lovely voice. Pity she didn't h

Interesting question, as proved by the fact that no-one can give a sensible answer! My guess would be that the tiny bullet fired from HMR generates a high pitched sonic "boom", while the bigger .22cf and heavier calibre bullets produce a lower frequency sound. The human ear percieves lower frequency sounds as quieter than high frequency, although the energy levels may be the same. A two stroke motor bike sounds "louder" than a four stroke at the same decibel level. The sonic boom from Concorde was deeper than that from a fighter plane, On a point of information, no bullet is "hypersonic".

Looks like about 70/30 for choke or semi-choke vs harness. TBH, I didn't expect even that much for harnesses. I only mentioned having had Apsos in order to stress that I trained even those little terriers using semi-choke collars. A mate had once been talking about training his JRT to flush for the gun. I asked him if he could train one of mine to the gun. He looked her over and said, dead-pan, "She'd make a good pull through for a 12-bore". Well thank you very much - not! Swampy - Uni's going great. Roll on graduation and out of halls so I can get my FAC back Strong Stuff - "The l

Ok people, just for once this isn't one of my wind-ups. I've not long since seen a guy I know, not a mate but we get on OK, out for a jar with his Staffie. Now, Keano - that's the dog - is a great wee beastie. Jet black except for white paws and white shirt-front, great conformation, pretty good temperament. OK with adults, great with kids, dodgy with other dogs. He's also a powerhouse. What bothers me is that Brad keeps him on one of those harness jobbies, wrapped round his front legs and body but not even a collar round his neck. Now, I've owned a lot of dogs in my time but they've all

Home Office guidelines to police, (of which the police seem to take lttle or no notice) state that while .243 meets the legal criteria for large deer, .270, 308 or 30-06 are to be preferred as they allow the use of a heavier (<150gr) bullet. .243 is optimal for Muntjac, CWD and Roe. Just out of interest, the recommended mimimum for wild boar is .270, 30-06 being recommended. An irritated cow is one thing. 40 stone of profoundly pissed-off pig coming at you at 20mph with murder and mayhem in mind is a rather different proposition. As I have said before, I am not able to speak from experi

Looks like they will lift the ban on riding to hounds fox hunts. So Lord ya-de-da will be allowed out there with Lady Muck. The lads with the lurchers and terriers are just working class idjits so who gives a f**k? Ric

You need to contact Waidmann. He was resident in Germany, had his German ticket, brought his guns with him. Worth a pm Ric -
they look good for about 10 minutes I just don't care! I love these big ugly mean looking tripe hounds. All the dogs I've ever owned - quite a lot - have been little terrier types with long back curved canines and bad attitude. There is no chance I'll ever have a big dog but I can dream on! Met a guy in town with a Husky t'other day. I'm in love. Ric

Are you really so dumb as not to have realised that "The Grim Reaper" is one of the best contributors to this site? He's funny, cool, laid back and a really nice guy. Check him out on the firearms site. He's building a .410 Lee-Enfield based shotgun. It's beautiful! Ric

Simoman - I believe you. On the other hand, a mate of mine had a really well trained GSD, Max. Big dog, about 85 lbs, long haired, when Paul got him he had been chucked off a police training scheme for being too aggressive (the dog, not my mate, who was an ex-marine commando). Paul trained him as a property protection dog. Paul was, er, involved with the back patch bikers. The Outlaws came round one night. They never came back. Why bother with any other breed? On t'other hand, I went round Paul's with my little daughter one day. Max adopted her as his baby and whenever I took Maddy round after

I say again gentlemen please chill out. I started an academic enquiry about ammo types and I find myself up to my arse in crocodiles. Please don't hijack my thread. If you want to fight do it on your own ground. DON'T shit on my doorstep. Ric

If you say so . . . Ever met a Neapolitan Mastiff? I'd guess not cos you're still alive . . . By the way, it's "chocolate". A mate of mine once had a Chocolate Lab. Sad to say, he called her Cadbury. Ric Neo's? As much use as an ashtray on a motorbike Spent 15 years training manwork and specialist protection dogs, Neos have the agility and IQ of a piece of driftwood and Tibetan mastiff is often unsound, they dont have the tractibilty or adaptability to soak up advanced training or even react with crisp obedience essential when controlling a canine capable of biting.............
