  1. Dave keeps pure deerhounds (coursing stock) as well as producing 1st crosses, 3/4 crosses and reverse 3/4 crosses. PM me if you want his number
  2. About two months ago I had a close call with a big black cat (aye, laugh all you want, I know what I saw) Saw a pair of eyes in among some undergrowth I thought it was a fox from a distance, so I started the squeaker (electric thingy) and it started coming in, but it wasn't moving the way it should have, so I took the red filter off and there, about 30yds away was a big black cat! The big dog was for having a go (she actually stodd in front of me - almost as if she was protecting me), but obviously that wasn't going to happen unless the fecker went for me (we were about 50yds from a house, so

  4. My old dog broke his tail last year and, despite telling the vet he was insured, he insisted on payment with each treatment. Total bill including x-rays and amputation was around £500. Took him the claim form and he said it'd be away that day. 4 weeks late and no cheque, I called the insurance company and went nuts cos they 'claimed' they hadn't received it, but faxed me a new one. Took it to my vet that evening and the receptionist told me he the vet hadn't filled in any claim forms for at least 3 months, then showed me two file boxes FULL of insurance claims. I went feckin berserk! This is
  5. wonder if he does divorce photos Hell, man. I'll do anything that pays! lol. Last week I took photos for a lawyer in a criminal injury claim - one day photographing a middle aged man with a scar on his head, the next ... well, you've seen the other stuff It's gonna be hard but Mrs Misty's 100% with me on it, so it's got to work. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for all the words of encouragement. Kev
  6. Thanks guys, feckin nervous as hell but I gotta give it a go.
  7. Well, I've decided (at long last) to finally make a committed effort to go full-time with my photography (reckon if I'm going to burst my b4lls, it's gonna be for me and my family). So, I've launched a new website (with a little less emphasis on glamour work, as it tends to get me a bit pigeon-holed, and more focus on portraits, weddings, events and commercial advertising work) to showcase my range of work and help bring in some business (so far, it's taking off pretty well through word-of-mouth). As I'm based near Glasgow, I'm well placed for most of Scotland and the north of England, althou
  8. Most of my portrait and glamour work is done with either Canon 28-135 IS USM (IS can be handy for the glamour ), Canon 50mm 1.8 or Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX HSM. I occasionally use a Sigma 20-40 EX 2.8 for landscapes and mountain bike work.
  9. Do a search and you'll find loads of pages with the same question. For what it's worth though, I own a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 deerhound and this is the mix I'll be sticking with - either 1/2 or 3/4 x. Whilst not as agile on rabbits as a whippet (obviously) she does a good account of herself. For bigger stuff, pre-b@n, she was spot on . Great nature too, gentle giant - my 17mth old daughter can take the utter p1ss of her and she laps it up as fun, but if anyone comes near the wee yin she'd have their arm off (definitely NOT a bad thing in my book) She's 28" and, like most deerhound crosses, took
  10. Finally! A few pics of the proud dad He's the black dog in the pics, 28" 1/2 bull. 3 bitches left.
  11. Got a great text from a mate last night that I thought you guys would appreciate: Tip for the year: Treat lifes little problems like your dog would... If you can't eat it or shag it - piss on it and walk away
  12. As 2007 draws to a close, I'd like to wish everyone on here a great 2008 for you and yours. I hope 2007 was good but merely a sample of better things to come. As you do at this time of year, I've been thinking a lot about the last 12 months: Sadly, I lost my oldest dog, Cass to cancer. She taught me more than I ever taught her - we're only apart for a wee while big lassie, keep runnin' em. My wee Gina had her 1st birthday, started walking, got christened and started talking (funny how you jump up and down saying "she's walking! She's talking!" then a few weeks later you're saying "any chanc

  16. All the dogs are now sold, only the bitches left.
  17. I'd say a collie cross, 1/2 or 3/4 would both do for what you want and they'll take the training a lot easier than most others. Beddy crosses are spot on for rabbits too, but can be a bit strong willed and not always ideal if you've not trained one before/ for a while (imo). Or you could just blow the lot out the water and get a pup from someone who's bred a proven worker to a proven worker. Whatever, you end up being owned by - good luck and welcome back
  18. One of my mates bought a cracking looking 3/4 grey 1/4 border x off him a few years ago and he's a cracker. Great looking and works well. However, two of the guys in my old dog club bought dogs off him about 6 or 7 years ago, one turned out okay while the other developed a heart problem at an early age. The vet reckoned it could be a hereditary thing, so he called Hancock and told him - he never even questioned it or asked for a vets report, just said "Oh yes, well bring him back and I'll give you another pup or your cash back" Take what you want from that. (I know I probably didn't help ver
  19. Chr1st! Would you believe it? 463 views and one "do you have any left" a reply to that and then - nothing? Surely someone must be looking for a pup to bring on or am I missing something?
