  1. What a great read - and some top photos too! I booked a pup (3/4 grey 1/8 beardie 1/8 border) from DH a couple of weeks ago just after the mating, so I'll be heading down the m6 around mid-feb (tying in with the first shoot for the Calendar) to pick her up. I was anxious before I read this - now I can't bl00dy wait! lol atb Kev
  2. The 95 is a good bit lighter and, therefore, a bit easier to carry around all day. The is a classic though and can be tuned quite a bit, but it's weight means it's better suited to hide shooting or short walks unless you've got a good bit of upperbody strength (remember, though, carrying it is only part of it - you need to have strength to keep it stable on target after a stalk etc.) Accuracy-wise, both'll do the trick - just don't ask the dreaded ".177 or .22" question...
  3. This bit had me in tears. RIP big lass
  4. no but it was my mate simon, i have had them ever since, was yours back out of first litter about 93 acd called murphy Aye, Simon D****. Mine was from his second litter - 1998-ish? Drove all the way down and had great fun watching his videos of his pup from teh first litter retrieving rabbits at about 10 wks (dead of course) The pup was going well until he popped a toe quite badly and had to be retired. Strong big fecker, he hit 25". I spoke to Simon the year after at Chatsworth and he reckoned that must have been the biggest in the litter as the rest hit about 23"-ish. He was good at

    BABY P.

Check this out. I posted the Sun link on a photography forum and a Mod (w4nk) has now locked it and says: "Is (this forum) the appropriate place for this? - It is a photo site after all! The reference to the death penalty cannot go be ignored! - comes over just a little 'redneck'! - that is a very complicated issue - probably best left for other forums " So, where should I post it? www.hangthepaedobastards.com/wishlistforxmas.html? (now THERE'S an idea) Redneck? Why? Because I want justice for this poor wee boy and to help prevent it happening again? If that makes me a Redneck, then pass m

  7. I came across an old CD of photos today that I just had to share with you guys (apologies to the Scots who may have seen this already on another forum). A few years ago - before the ban - I had a cracking day out with Frost. The sun was shining, although it had been raining for several days before - pretty much like it was today. Frost had his whippet/ greyhound x, B, and his collie x, T, with him. I had my old deerhound x with me - sadly it was a few years ago and although she's no longer with me, I now have one of her descendants who is identical in almost every way (you'd have to look damn

    BABY P.

I've just e-mailed everyone in my contacts list. If anyone else fancies doing the same and making a difference, I've copied and pasted it below to make it easier for you: Right! We've all heard or read about the horrific things that happened to Baby P and I'm sure you, like me, were appalled by the way this poor wee fellow was let down by so many people, including; social services (60 visits and no-one noticed a thing?) and the GP who checked him and failed to notice, among other injuries, a broken spine! It's now time for us all to stop moaning about it and DO SOMETHING! The Sun are r

    BABY P.

Like others, I cried when I read the papers. It's now time to stop moaning about it and DO SOMETHING! The sun are running a petition, which we should ask everyone we know to sign. It takes two seconds to do it: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1936179.ece What are you doing still reading this? Click the fcuking link if it matters to you!
  10. I had a 1st cross like these a few years ago from a guy in Cleator Moor - wouldn't be you by any chance, would it?
  11. Check out this fecker! http://video.kenblockracing.com/flash/smal...&autoplay=0
  12. Yup, ya can hear them now: "Used to have an Italian Greyhound - tiny wee thing, the runt o the litter - it would knock them big feckers down for fun, etc. etc. etc." :wankerzo4:
  13. Points to note here are: Your sprint training (anaerobic work), believe it or not, WILL actually have a positive effect on your endurance. This is as a result of your anaerobic threshold (the point at which you start training/ working anaerobically) increasing as your body learns to be more effective at removing the lactate etc. from the working muscles. This means that you are able to work aerobically at a higher heart rate than you could before and, therefore, you can maintain lower intensity exercise for longer. (ever noticed the way you seem to walk just that wee bit faster when you're ma
  14. There are various components of fitness and they are all relevant to what you are training for (I've kept the definitions simplified): Cardiovascular fitness: The increased strength and efficiency of the heart & lungs to do their jobs - to supply the body with fresh blood, oxygen and various nutrients contained within. Aerobic fitness: The ability to perform at a sub-maximal effort for a prolonged period of time without running into an oxygen-debt (i.e. 'with oxygen') - e.g. jogging etc. . Anaerobic fitness: The ability to perform intense, maximal effort exercise for a short period of
  15. Had a chat on the phone with Labsnlurchers this afternoon and I have to say "Damn! That girl's organised!" Sounds like it's going to be a cracking project to work on and I'm looking forward to a) meeting everyone as we go along and seeing the finished article. I've had worked published in several books and many magazines over the years (it's nice to be able to put something on your bookshelf with your own work inside) but never a calendar, so this should be fun.
  16. Hellfire! You go away for a couple of weeks and look what happens! 33 pages! That's gotta be almost as many as a Hancock thread (no smart comments please) Anyway, apologies to Labsnlurchers for not getting back to her as I didn't have internet access where I was, but we'll get things sorted out.
  17. They sell big rubber pants for that, mate! :tongue2:
  18. what x was he mate? 3/4 grey 1/4 collie, had him since he was 6 weeks old and never known a bond like it. When he was working, I rarely had to say a word as he was used to clicks of my fingers, whistles and hand signals.
  19. If I could only keep one dog for evermore, this would be the one. 11 1/2 yrs old now, forcibly retired (and hates me for it) due to arthritis (although the sod ran a deer by accident a few weeks ago and was knackered for days). By far, the best dog I've owned and the standard by which all others will be judged. My boy, Keeka:
  20. I went for a wee wander this morning with Frost and took a camera along with me. Unfortunately, the dogs accidentally had a run at some deer and in the excitement of shouting to my deerhound x to 'stop!' I forgot to get the camera out and take some action shots. Further on, as it became lighter, I got the camera out and here are a few of the shots I took:
  21. Congratulations! Twins? he he, DOUBLE TROUBLE!
  22. There's a photo in JD's book Running Dog Addiction of two bull crosses (I think their names were Heidi & Master, check later) with a Red stag
  23. Sunny Kilmarnock (actually, it's a wee village called Hurlford, but most folk ask "where?")
