    OTTERS

has anyone noticed the amount of otters that are about these days or is just me, i was on my way home from a nights lamping last night when i discovered a otter that had been run over. the thing is it was miles away from any river or pool could anyone suggest what she was doing there as i dont know much about them i was amazed she had travelled so far from water.
  6. its good stuff i have used it for years on the farm. ive used it on every single animal on the farm with no problems what so ever.
  7. sounds like it was hard to get at the rats, how many did you catch.
  8. i dont mind if my dog has a little bit to eat just before i take him out for a full working session. i wouldnt go to work on an empty stomach so i dont expect my dog to, i find he is just a bit steadier at the begining of the night its never done him any harm yet.
  9. i like to have a good strong bond with my working dog so he is both a pet and worker who will stay with me until the day he dies.
  10. i would travel 25 miles or more for a nights/days hunting
  11. i think it would vary from person to person depending on your past history with the law.
  12. has anyone on this forum taken up the offer to go out with flint08 and see his dogs work?
  13. theres nothing stupid about it. as far as i am concerned its good to experiment a bit, what i learnt from seeing that rabbit caught was do not under estimate the capabilities of a pup.
  14. i wouldnt think any 4 month old pup would catch rabbits I have seen a 4 month old pup catch a rabbit on the lamp
  15. i started my dog at 8 weeks old and i dont have any problems with him as reguards to joints they are all fine, he doesnt yap or whimper when chasing his quary he has and does catch large bags. once a pup has left his mother i think the earlier you get them out lamping the better.
  16. i only have a 30watt bulb in my lamp that is plenty bright enough for me.
  17. my dogs 25.5" and weighs 64lbs
  18. which tobaco do you recomend old holburn, cutters choice or golden virgina.
  19. The younger you start a dog of the better, i start mine out as soon as i get them at 8-9 weeks old. As long as a pup as a good balanced diet plenty of excersise will not hurt them in any way as it promotes growth hormones.
  20. just been watching the news and there is talk of the goverment bringing in compulsory insurance incase your dog bites someone or evan other dogs, sky news evan mentioned asbos being brought out on dogs, and there is evan the mention of every dog having to be chipped. almost every clip showed a bull terrier breed as being dangerouse its more bad press being pushed towards the dog world and the bull terrier. what do you think the chances are of this being brought into force, also how much effect do you think it will have on the lurcher world especially the bull cross lurchers.
  21. only vaccinate my dogs when they are pups never do them again, up until now i havent had any problems
