  1. Ok dont mend it if its not broken , if you change the bedding regular the smell is minimal , males smell stronger this time of year anyway its normal, bathing wont make them smell any sweeter it will make them smell more if you do it all the time
  2. Do you mean vasectomy ? or castration Vasectomy wont reduce smell they will be entire still castration will redcue the smell a little de scenting is a mutation & wont be perfored by any vet unless it is for a medical reason costs for both operations varies greatly from area to area
  3. Just give her a hutch & plenty of bedding on her own & let her get on with it
  4. If you think its something other than just being in with a horny hob i would contact a vet if she hasnt picked up by tomorrow Just make sure she has food water etc now
  5. Bit like asking how long a peice of string is really , they all develop at different rates , differing litter sizes etc , how soon they are weaned , but as a general rule as Sue said after 8 weeks
  6. Its not something i would do personally , i think they need there own space to allow them to mother there own litters
  7. Oh well done, make sure your neat & tidy , dont know how old you are but if your a young lad dont go in hoody & that sort of stuff , be polite & tell them what you can offer , you will respect the land & the quarry etc & last but not least Good Luck

  12. I thought the term ''fitch'' was just the name for the pelt regardless of the colour , you learn summat every day
  13. We get quite few of these crosses running round the base of Arundel and various other old castles in Sussex . The technical term for them is ,I believe ,a "moat". I am soooooo sorry ! Dont appologise its almost as bad as my stink
  14. The one & only time any of mine raced they got half way down the pipes & turned back
  15. How the hell do you do it, the deer leap out of the page at you , there all brilliant, live the bumble bee best though & the steping stones
  16. Mal you should be a moddy of the young hunters section
  17. Stoats X mink is called a stink
  18. look best think to do is contact the nearest rescue & arrange to go there , they will allow you to handle dozons of ferrets , then if you do get one, get a neutered ferret from a rescue , no need to worry about seasons & possible problems with behavoiur at that time of year excelent advice I now understand the need to know about jills seasons , theres enough info on this forum regarding ferrets & rescues, i am supprised someone as bright as Jenny didnt think of looking at the pinned rescues list on here, its all making sence now
  19. Well who better to ask then, you have friends who seemingly are experienced dont they give you the information you need , especially on the behaviour front yes but he hasnt kept them aslong(about a year) as many people on here who have kept them for years and years....so where better to get my info from? Oh right , so you dont really think your friend is experienced enough to give you the info you need , look best think to do is contact the nearest rescue & arrange to go there , they will allow you to handle dozons of ferrets , then if you do get one, get a neutered ferret from

  21. Oh come on genning up on food housing & jills in season is not going to make you wake up tomorrow & think '' hey i dont fear ferrets anymore'' , do me a favour The only way you or anyone else is going to get to see how they behave & handle is to get hands on , so unless your mates with ferrets are going to allow you to stay with them indefinatly the only other way is to own your own Which is exactly what you planned to do , well a bit of advice , dont expect to get a kit over the bank holliday & expect it to lay in your arms batting its eyes at you , get real
  22. I'm not trying to have a go but the same people who are Reading this thread read the one about you walking past an empty water bottle for two days so mentioning that you intend to buy is going to provoke the response you got. if you had just said I'm trying to over come my fear etc etc. the response would of been totally different you would of got lots of advice because people would respect/admire you for trying to over come this fear and then when the time comes for you to own a ferret in a year or so depending on how it goes you would then be congratulated for you success, so can you see wha
  23. Agree with the one , i would leave it a few more days , pointless trying if the jills not ready as all it results in is a sore neck where she has escaped his grip, she will just lay there & let him basically when its the right time
  24. I hope he isnt still on the naughty step i sent him there week last wednesday & not seen him since You must have been some rollocking you gave him, maybe you should fetch him in now before someone calls the NSPCC. He went of his own free will , needed no yelling at Are you sure you did'nt give him a cold stare by accident. Oh no i only ever do the cold stare when i am really riled
