  3. I genuinely think the biggest obstacle to over come is to give a reply that the person understands everyone's level of understanding very different ... its no good blinding folks with science if there level of understanding isn't the same as the person replying So keep the replys basic & in plain English then i am sure a lot more kids will start to ask questions rather than go at things blind for fear of being made fun of
  4. Its hardly a surprise some of the kids don't ask questions .. does it matter if the same questions asked a thousand time & is seemingly very basic... everyone starts somewhere ... people should be a little more tolerant with the youngsters... its a poor do if you cant help a kid out with a decent reply

  7. Keeping ferrets here made no difference to a mouse problem i had in the shed.. but the old terrier made short work of them
  8. Most kits go through a biting stage .. as already advised keep the handling & good feeding up .. you will find once they pass that 6 month mark they will be a lot easier .. its just like a pup or a kitten when it comes to mouthing .. they simply need to know that they cant bite us like they bite there companions .. they do bite when playing anyway if you watch them there all mouth
  9. I have in the past experienced ferrets dying in this way .. fine one min then you next go to them & one has gone ...
  10. dont you find in general if you have a chatterer its a jill
  11. there's a lady who used to post on another forum i was a member of & she found a jill living in an empty stable where she kept her horses .. she got her speyed & then got her a companion male .. got him castrated & they both live in the stables .. there not caged .. they do wander about ... if there not in the stable when she goes to feed them ..she has a bell she rings & they come from where ever they are in the yard they have lived free-range for at least 12 months with no problems .. 99% of the time escaped ferrets will seek out people that's why they get found ... per
  12. generally speaking they should have there eyes open by the 5th week
  13. ..and even if they are, would you still call it a ferret? ..I wouldn't.. I would call it Blacky Well you have a sambo & honky dont you anyway
  14. My greyhound bitch was very nervous when she arrived 2 yrs ago, i simply crated her & sat by the cage on the floor & offered her food from my hand ... i did this for weeks & she eventually started to gain confidence... the thing is she is now a confident little bitch that i wouldn't be without & has a sunny disposition Having said that my bitch still has problems when i walk her down the gulley to get to the main road .. it has a bend in it & she wont walk on the inside & simply walks round to my other side ... i assume she was shoved in the sidings when she raced
