  1. I don't envy me! I'm holding out for a wealthy landowners daughter to keep me.............. I'll do all the farm shop shopping she wants!
  2. That's all well and good but lets be honest, how many of us have the time to go round all our local producers sourcing all our food locally? I begrudge my once weekly 30 min race around ASDA never mind spending an entire morning and galons of deisel just to support local business. Fact is supermarkets are fecking conveinient! Very true - and I go to mine maybe once every 3 or 4 weeks, to stock up on things like washing powder, shampoo, floor cleaner, flour, butter etc etc - but for the veg and meat for everyday cooking I am lucky that a good nearby farmshop is available, and local markets ru

Not only that, round here they are the only real option now since they've drove the smaller shops out.. I do use the butcher though - better meat and the supermarkets ain't any cheaper.. I think butchers are the only real local producers that everyone has easily avail

  5. I've used the odd one. A good semi auto is better but as you say more expensive. I've considered one in 12g as a knock about when doing the rounds on the shoot but my auto fits that bill so really no need. If I didn't have the auto then I would certainly be after one, probably with a 24" barrel. I think also most 410s are in pump and rarely found in semi auto format because the lack of power increases the number of faults with the semi auto cycling mechanism.............
  6. I've always thought a 5 shot auto or pump would be right at home on the squirrels. I do a bit on them now and again and relentlessly kill them in the spinneys, quite often having to reload the auto. One shot in the drey, two might bolt, sometimes they can be real tricky buggers darting about often at close range. Not often I need to reload on fox but would be comforting knowing I've plenty in the gun in such situations. Also, obviously rabbiting. It's something I'm considering. Be very usefull for pest control.
  7. I'm sure a few dogs have been sent to the grave by a fallow buck or red stag.
  8. My first thought was some sort of Marsupial, a Wombat or similar. I'm not seriously suggesting that but it was my first thought, LOL.
  9. Thats what I heard re the DSC2 and .243 although I cant remember where from, news to me about the shotgun mind. Where did you find this out from, can you remember? I can't remember I'm afraid. I'm vaguely recalling a short TV piece with a bloke demonstrating it all...................
  10. I'm sure I read all marksmen are DSC2 qualified with min caliber of .243 and max rifle range of 70 meters and max shotgun range of 15 meters.
  11. Wonder what the excuse will be this time?.................... lack of ammunition due to ongoing conflicts perhaps................. or maybe this time they underestimated the terrain and will have to put it off another year untill better boots are sourced................ If I was a betting man...................
  12. Would you still be required (as with a rifle) to provide permission letters and landowner info with the application SS?
  13. Very well put Malt! Stability in the Middle East is in everyones favour. The yanks do what is necessary and we stand by them as their closest military ally.
  14. I'm now wondering if he actually has any fingers left.............. He's lost them all from one hand and now got frost bite again, presumeably on the other hand! Think he's lost toes in the past as well, remember something about it dropping off in the bath and he left it one the side.............. which his wife found later on!
  15. Something about his skis bindings, couldn't fix it with his glove on so took it off and got frostbite. Madness looking at some of the stuff he's done and his matter of fact attitude to absolutely staggering events. He's ex 22 Regt. as well.
  16. Unfortunately he's had to pull out of his utterly staggering attempt to walk across Antartica in the winter! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21571870 I'm not one for hero worshipping but if I could meet any one person in the world it would be this man. He knows no limits! He's an inspiration. Game doesn't begin to describe the heart this chap has!
  17. Get down the clay ground and practice on rabbits. One persons 4ft is anothers 10ft!
  18. I have my suspicions to....... Even if it's not, £Bs will still be pissed away and what the military get will still be less than they were and have to be spent on peacekeeping type operations. It makes sense but sounds like a dirty way of trying to appease us.
  19. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-21528464 Makes sense to me, rather than piss money into corrupt systems, put it into our military to sort out the corrupt systems. A bit clever really, in a backhanded way, appeasing us all that don't want military cuts but want aid cuts without actually doing either directly. See what happens.....
  20. Reading sporting gun yesterday, alegedly the market for steel shot pigeons is quite lucrative............. The hawk/falcon lot buy them for their birds. Might be worth considering if you're gonna be shooting good numbers.........
  21. Getting ready for the poults and preparing for next season................. Lots of late evening dog walks, clay shooting, pubs and BBQs. And work have kindly promised me two holidays....... they think I'll be working, lol.

Just out of interest mate....do you therefore consider the AA organisation as " unworthy " ?....its not a charity and its full of addicts many with no intention of fighting their weakness.................what is a genuine case when it comes to addictions,do you have to admit your an addict before you qualify as a genuine case ?......................Alcoholism as a disease just doesnt work like that. I dont idolise the man either,in fact i dont idolise anybody....except maybe Bobby Moore .....................you dont have to idolise a sports star to feel compassion towards them. Unwor

Gnasher, you've missed my point perhaps. I wasn't saying whats the most worthy, but what is worthy and what isn't in my opinion. Black and white, no shades of grey there. An addict with no intention of fighting their weakness isn't worthy in my opinion. I can't help but think of MANY genuine causes, like the example I gave. Nothing silly about that. I don't idolise the man, so have no more sympathy for him than any other like him. People can throw their money where they want, I wouldn't call/judge anybody for it either.
  24. Lets be honest, it's not a daft move trying to improve ties and relations with India. Any of the BRIC nations for that matter, India is an obvious one for the UK. They are gonna be spending serious bucks on military hardware over the next 50+ years. Get in there and take their money or watch the Russians, Chinese, Yanks or French do it.
