  1. I agree with that Max, I just don't think the foreign aid budget is significant enough to address much of that. It might go a little way to addressing just one of them though. It's tough and frankly folks just don't give a shit, even if we could agree on the action. I honestly think if Red Army paras were falling out of the sky, half the British population would put the kettle on for em, such is the contempt for our own establishment. lol. A hike in defence spending is the only thing I can think of that we have left. But as you say that would never be popular.
  2. Defence spending will always be low priority to many folks in peace time. It's hard to justify until you need it. A lot of folks will agree with you that's a fact. So ultimately we just do nothing? Not a great deal more that can be done economically or diplomatically.
  3. So you don't agree with our intelligence services or likewise have the same faith that Farage does? Fair enough, you're likely not alone. Surely you don't divulge your case details until the actual trial? Given that we will probably never get them in our custody I agree there should be some sort of public enquiry where the evidence is put forth. Discrediting the Russian establishment is probably the best tactic here.
  4. Kid maybe mate. Didn't some woman, totally unconnected, die recently. Collateral when you f**k about with nerve agents and the likes. It's not so much that though that I have major issue with, as terrible as it is. It's the blatant disregard for our sovereignty, that's a much greater worry imo. Sending intelligence service operators into another global powers territory to off someone who was of no consequence and in peace time and in doing so cause a potential serious loss of innocent life is a serious line crossed. That is cold war shit. In fact it's the stuff that starts serious confli
  5. I think that is all reasonably fair. I can't think of an example in recent history of us doing something like this but we have certainly not been angels. I think it'll blow over if we stand strong and bold, if we don't it will encourage further escalation, globally. I can't believe that Putin is totally unreasonable. There is a lot of money to be made from good trade relations and a lot of potential growth for his country.
  6. 50/50 Worcestershire source and soy source base 4+ cloves of crushed garlic lemon juice black pepper cayenne scoop of honey I think I add dried coriander too Marinade for a couple of days, turning now and again if you remember. Then cold smoke and finish the dehydration however you do it.
  7. So it looks like they have identified the perpetrators and security/intelligence services say they are GRU. Do folks still say it's bullshit? I was listening to Farage's LBC radio show thing and even he was convinced but wondered what really the West could do about it given they have already gone quite far diplomatically. So for those that do believe/agree with our government's claim, what do you think we should do, if at all anything? I personally think the strongest message we could send is to increase defence spending to 3%GDP. In addition, or even as a consequence, is there
  8. Judging by their logo they haven't tried very hard to distance themselves from the US Dems. They have a f***ing donkey on it!
  9. The devil is in the detail (bold above) but I like the fact they value it.
  10. Indiana Jones had a man-bag. Just saying......
  11. That really is a f***ing brilliant example of confirmation bias. Bird calls me an idiot in a f***ing terrible abuse of the English language. I respond by pointing out his lack of intellectual high ground but you think I'm the f***ing snob.
  12. I didn't start picking on others and spelling one word in probably hundreds wrong is a long shot from the shite you and bird manage to produce.
  13. To give the question of carrying capacity a fair, if necessarily vague, answer, I would personally estimate that the upper carrying capacity of lions on the Bubye Valley Conservancy would be around 500 animals—assuming that they are allowed to be hunted and therefore generate the revenue to offset the cost of their predation. Remember, lion numbers can get out of hand. And if there was no predation, then thousands upon thousands of zebra and wildebeest and impala would need to be culled to prevent them from over grazing the habitat, leading to soil erosion, starvation, and disease. T
  14. The Bubye Valley Conservancy does not rely on trophy hunting to manage the lion population. I will discuss the economics of hunting in brief. The most recent and robust lion population survey data calculate a current lion population on the Bubye Valley Conservancy of between 503 and 552 lions (it is impossible to get a 100 percent accurate count on the exact lion number — which also changes daily with births and deaths). Carrying capacity is an extremely fluid concept, and changes monthly, seasonally, and annually depending on all sorts of factors including rainfall, disease (of both pred
  15. "intellectual idiot" I'll refrain from throwing insults back at you seeing as you struggle with basic f***ing English and punctuation. You are utterly wrong and all emotional about it. Managing a species with hunting is not a threat to them and is in fact protecting them from decline in those areas. Read a book ffs or a link I put up wih the views of actual independent conservationists explaining the situation. Hunting reserves and conservancies are protecting wildlife habitat. More wildlife habitat than even the national parks protect! They are NOT responsible for population declin
  16. Small government, emphasis on independence and defence, value of democracy and justice, concerned about a lack of community and patriotism. They're making the right noises for me. There's at least one bit of their manifesto I think is a bit sensationalist though and I'm always concerned that bold talking policies have a tendency to turn into authoritarian government. I became aware of them yesterday in relation to talk about gun ownership.
  17. https://dvparty.uk/values/ Might be of interest to a few on here and sparked my attention when I read the word 'libertarian'.
  18. I can't remember the exact figures but isn't it something like an estimates 80+ elephants are killed every single day by poachers, often poisoning entire family group on the off chance some have ivory. Compare that to the 2-3 a day that are legally allowed to be hunted by CITES quotas. Legally hunted in areas that manage them as a sustainable harvestable commodity. I think an argument against Elephant hunting is more strongly grounded when based on the sentience of the species and of the genetic and behavioural impact of taking out mature male 'tuskers'. There some interesting debate ther
  19. Just watched the first bit mate. My calculation is still valid for 2.5km. If I worked out what they measured I'd get a lot more than 12cm, youre right, as I worked out how much higher the middle was if you were to line up both ends and they were working over 3 miles. They assume the earth is flat at one end and then work out how much lower the other end is, slightly different measurement. The maths isn't linear and by that I mean you can't just double the drop every time you double the distance, its a bit more involved than that. Good clip though, its exactly what I'm talking about.
  20. I'll Try to watch it later but I'm pretty sure 12cm is correct for a 2.5km body of water. The website I posted earlier confirmed it. But it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. Can you elaborate?
  21. Well that's not what this thread was supposed be about. Maths is super f***ing boring anyway. Lol
  22. Valid point mate. So far we assume the earth is a perfect sphere all the time. It is very close to that anyway. I suspect over the atlantic the error tide would introduce would be insignificant. Even mt everest doesn't effect things too much. But nonethless would have to be checked.
