  1. Yep, agree with all that. Comparisons to the flu can be valid for perspective but can also be plainly false.
  2. His perspective of the Italian epidemic is somewhat weighted by the severe and critical cases though. Germany has 16'000 diagnoses cases (which is up there) with only 44 dead. We really can't focus on one country or one icu. It got out of hand in Italy before they knew what was what. If I'm not mistaken we were experiencing cases of it in the single figures at the same time they were but it exploded there and simmered for a bit here before now kicking off a bit. Every country is different.
  3. We'll see mate. There's a lot of media focus on this which in my opinion is leading people to believe it is a bigger threat to our health than it really is. It's not be taken lightly but 99% of the population will come out the other end no matter what. They're aiming to keep the total deaths to under 20'000, which is 1 in every 3000 people. I don't mean to sound callous but 20'000 deaths in the UK is f**k all when put into context. Make no doubt about it, the real threat is to the economy. But I agree, Boris talks and talks without actually telling us anything of substance. He's out of hi
  4. Mate, a GP mate of mine said everything is shut down and they're effectively working in isolation, either from home or from the surgery over the phone. It's probably knocked everything out of whack. They have to unfortunately otherwise every man and his dog with a runny nose will be rushing in to them worried they have corona which will end up putting many of these front line medical professionals out of action due to the odd one that actually does have it. It's shit buddy, especially for you.
  5. Folks, this is how the truth is found. Through discussion. Let people share their opinions, gently or passionately. If you consider their opinions false then challenge them, if you can't or don't want to then stay out of the discussion.
  6. There might be more consideration given to supply chains, there will hopefully be more planning and investment in preparing for epidemics but globalisation is here to stay. Too much money to be made between disasters. lol
  7. Ah right, yeah, silly me.
  8. All the vaccines being worked on...
  9. Looks like the South Koreans managed it in short order.
  10. Why would they lie about the deaths? Not like ash is infectious. LOL If you believe the data then this is encouraging. Took them about a month to tun the tide and another to get the count right back down.
  11. Italy's death count has just overtaken China's.
  12. I’m not scrounging about for scraps in hedgerows! I’m just gonna flatten the unarmed c**ts sitting on a mountain of frozen chicken, pasta and bog roll!
  13. I think Iran released something like 85'000 last week. LOL
  14. Must be serious If they're not bothering with the 410s!
  15. f**k all this bollocks, just get troops on the streets now to kerb it. Last thing we need is rioting akin to 2011. If that escalates in this current crisis, there'll be no kid gloves tactics for them.
  16. I know a marine that did a spell with Fleet Protection Group. We've had a few chats over a pint or two. So I know not be knocking on the door with my CV, thankyou!
  17. Don't tease me! The end of the world AND an alien invasion........ It's like Christmas.
  18. Nahhh, hundred dead as of yesterday with about 20 critical or serious. In UK that is. If it was 'wild' and getting covered up we'd be hearing it on the grapevine from hospital staff. It's gonna get much worse, but then it's still at a very minor level. Lets be honest, at this stage the only impact we're feeling is from the countermeasures, not the actual virus. Which is of course a good thing, folks need to stay vigilant and play their part.
  19. I chucked a load of old flour out a few weeks ago because I found tiny little black insects scurrying around in it! It was regular refined flour and I'd not touched it for a year or more since I moved to wholegrain flour. Thinking that was a tactical error now! What will I have to dip in my bat soup?
  20. It's been eye opening. Least I won't have much conscience for them when they're starving come the apocalypse proper in a few months.
  21. I'm starting to think it's time a law was passed regulating how much food and essentials can be bought at once. There's no significant supply chain issues but folks are creating one by panic buying and it's getting worse. Looks like most places are only opening their doors to the elderly in the mornings but that's just gonna panic the masses even more who'll be gathering at the doors like a herd of panicked wildebeest! I'm embarrassed to be the same species right now. God forbid I ever end up in a desperate situation with folks so f***ing pathetic.
  22. Cant imagine how bored I’d be of pasta and chicken washed down with milk right now!
  23. Just had a look, they reckon robust and wide scale testing makes the difference. Suppose it’s like having a lot of firefighters with a bushfire. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/03/16/opinions/south-korea-italy-coronavirus-survivability-sepkowitz/index.html I remember reading about how massive SKs testing regime was a few weeks ago. They have a really low fatality rate which is speculated to be simply because they are actually identifying cases which are so mild other countries wouldn’t even know about them.
  24. I really have no idea mate. Heard a few things mentioned about them, ageing population and quite close as a culture and families. But who knows at this stage. They were picking up their first few cases at the same time we were I think but it seemed to take off much faster for them. lots of potential factors. How vigilant people are to symptoms, how effectively they responded, cultural differences etc etc. Who knows. Be interesting to find out, every government will want to know for future prevention.
