I'm not sure what countries have implemented these strategies so can't say. But Italy obviously have and the data might be showing it working. Active cases data should be a week or two behind this data.

My understanding is that it makes no difference at this point. The only available options for stopping this fire is to dampen the fuel, ie social distancing. Worrying about new sources of ignition (planes, ships etc) is now pointless. If we achieve social distancing then the curve will 'flatten' whether we are importing new cases or not. The time to ban international movements is before an epidemic. Even then, it's rarely airtight and has significant consequences. I know other countries have implemented this action but I'd suggest it's made absolutely no difference. Everyone got this

They added nearly 10'000 cases to their books yesterday and they have nearly 800 in serious/critical condition. I think they might be expecting a bit of a firefight this week...

The yanks have just had one hell of a daily case increase. Over 8000 new cases today, added to the 24000 already. That's a hell of a spike. I wonder if thats representative of the actual state of the epidemic or the authorities stepping up testing...

Folks need to be careful when looking at the data. I've seen heaps of people just looking for data that supports their biases and theories. It's dodgy. There will be many variables that impact the epidemic in each country/location. Expecting them all to follow similar trends is naive. I really dont think Italy's situation says anything about the validity of China's. Not on its own at least.

LOL, mate my diet isnt dependant on the two pints of milk I consume a week. It makes no difference to my health. I eat other food and heaps of fat.

I was thinking about that yesterday, food waste that is. Frankly, it’s a good thing as in times of shortage it gives us room to optimise and get by. If we were normally super efficient, at a time of hardship we’d have no room to improve and therefore survive. I wasn’t exactly pleased with that conclusion, lol, but nonetheless it’s worthwhile to consider.

Agreed, but I was talking about folks saying that there will be a reset in light of how fragile industrial food supply clearly is. I mean if that happened throughout society then yeah great, everything would be more robust, but it won't. Having a small holding for your own production might sound like a shrewed move to the same end but if the end times ever does come, all those townies will descend like locusts.

With respect lads, what's the point? You could be totally independent but if a proper catastrophe ever hit then your resources would be raped by a million desperate townies. You'd need a hundred rifles to have a hope of stopping that. The skills it'd teach are worthwhile but it's not a physical asset if you can't defend it imo.

Asteroid's not a concern. pretty sure there's a comet on it's way too which might just be visible. That'll be cool as shit! Oh and the yanks have successfully tested a hypersonic missile. (I have a few targets in the East if they are taking suggestions )

Someone told me that it's expected the panic buying to steady after two weeks. Probably when cupboards and freezes fill up and folks calm the f**k down.
