  1. I have 1 & 2 .I also attended the witness briefing so should be on the approved list after June . But babysitting 5000 pheasants won,t leave a lot of time for that !
  2. these guys do a nice saw ! http://www.doningtondeermanagement.co.uk/carcase_cutting_equipment.html
  3. Flubenvet, is mixed in with the feed. POM Panacur sheep drench is used as well, mix into the wheat and left overnight to dry then feed as normal next day (I hand feed so know how much I will use each day) Ivermectin can be used as long as its water soluble. That kills parasites inside and outside the birds.but not approved for pheasants ! I know a few lads who use it and a few hundred pigeon racers use it as well .so it cant be that bad ? You can treat the pen every year and hold it back, but all the ground outside the pen is infected as well so the birds will pick it up eventualy s
  4. BAN CIRCUS CRUELTY, Is the link to the RSPCA forum. Why do we have a banner add at the start with an RSPCA website looking for political votes ?? Its the google adds on the front page ,next to an add for shooting in Scotland ?????
  5. You would need a JCB to dig it out ! lol
  6. My single stick is a decent hazel shaft. My bipod is a B&Q green rod special ! lol, with a slice of inner tube(like a big rubber band) twisted around six inches from the top( in a figure of 8 style) . Both work really well . ps, If you cut another bit of tube and twist it around one of the poles at the bottom,It stops them banging together and making a noise .
  7. You will just have to stay home now and check out the washing lines !
  8. Whilst I admire your efforts to re-home dogs.Do you think you would shift a few more of them if the price was dropped from £150 ? The problem could be the endless trail of dogs in the local rags "free to good home" and others at under £50 (because wee johny has got a chest infection ?)(yeh right !). The bottom line is that you are going to have to harden your heart a bit and only take in what you can handle . Good luck and hope things get better for you .
  9. The big boy taking a drink would look nice on the wall !! lol
  10. Great pics those deer look like Whitetail...... How do you post pics like that without having to do the link thing... Here is a picture of a young hunter from one of our camps who shot this deer with a bow. He hunted about 2 hours. After shooting the deer it went about 100 yards and he saw it go down and called back to camp for assistnce on getting it out of the field. We let Duce the wee dog blood trail and find it she was about 18 months old then - this was her first deer blood trail since then she has been on some Elk blood trails and several other deer that were hit and lost until she foun
  11. For all the grief and misery on the site at time's, Your post was a breath of fresh air !!!! Glad you and the kids had a great time .
  12. I use a Reconyx RC55 It realy gets the goods !(Too expensive to have more than one !) Here is a few Roe Does ,a young buck and probably his father ??lol Good picture of a fox sniffing about as well. It took about 450 pictures in 3 or 4 days this time . Last summer I had it out for a week and it took 2,630 of which 2,450 were young pheasants from a release pen ! lolol
  13. How do you pack that out of the area? It must weight a good bit ? I would have to raise the ceiling to get that above the fireplace ! lolol Great picture!
  14. Something that was suggested to me years ago that I have never actually tried yet.Was to make friends with your local tree nursery/garden centre. Anything that is broken ,stunted etc and is no longer commercial and would be thrown out .Ask them to keep a bag full for you the next time they have a clear out . You then obviously plant the cast offs in small patches and add to the diversity for the deer ??Roe are famous for eating anything different or exotic ! lolol In theory it sounds good ,but as yet I still haven't tried it ??
  15. In a perfect world it would be ideal to be able to have a nice bit of ground and do a management plan that had some chance of success. Leaving the promising beasts and culling the the poorer ones (once clean of course ). However ,between today's small stalking area's and odd bits of ground to the damage control side of things. A lot of people have to show results or loose their stalking .This results in a situation where If its seen then its shot . That's not good or bad ! That's just the way it is .Big estates can do differently ,but small areas you cant. If I cant take out as much of t
  16. One of the simplest things to do ,is take a couple of pounds of general fertiliser every couple of months and spread it over selected areas (20mtr x 20mtr).They will pick out the better grass and scrub by themselves (all on your ground of course ).

Got it wrong again !! I thought it was about PAY-PAL!!
  18. If ,Your stalking area is fairly small. The wood is mature -ish. The field will have livestock put on it. The farmer wants them all gone ? If your stalking is dependant on showing results and the wood is to thick to stalk? Then your only option may be to take them both now. You might not get another chance to do the job when the livestock arrives and the deer are back in the wood or move to someone elses ground . If the wood is open and you have other area's where the deer will move to then you will be able to take your time a bit more and stretch out your season . brno17'
  19. Do you think it might have been a bit Dizzy ??? lolol
  20. God help the next young lad that comes with a good story !!!
  21. Google is just great innit ! Definition Yersinosis refers to infection by a genus of bacteria known as Yersinia. The two sub-types that are responsible for yersinosis are Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. The diseases produced by these organisms are called "zoonoses," because the bacteria is passed to humans from animal sources. The name Yersinia comes from Dr. Alexandre Yersin, who was the first person to grow a much more deadly type of Yersinia known as Yersinia pestis, the bacteria responsible for what is now known as bubonic plague. This article, however, will
  22. OK, I have 5 new-ish plantations that need ferreting on a regular basis(to keep the forester happy). What I would like is a couple of experienced guys ,insured ,shotgun cert and own transport .Within 20-ish miles of Aberdeen. Shotgun only. Sorry but no youngsters!. NO , air rifle, rimfire , centrefire or night shooting will be allowed.(already taken care off ) The only requirement is to take a spade with you and backfill the holes as you go,so we can see what is still being worked (so can the forester!)You keep the rabbits . I keeper the ground and the pheasants are 100% first all

  24. I put this on the video board but thought it would be better on here . I don't know a great deal about coursing and wondered how the dogs are scored ? Following on from the other "Spanish coursing" I watched another from the list on the side . Pirata - Careta 2ª Carrera de la Semifinales Campeonato 2005 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUrntInGL1I To me this was an amazing run for the dogs .Anyway , The black dog was there almost all of the time and the other dog was trailing most of the time .BUT ! The hare was caught on the fence by the lighter coloured dog. Which dog would have score
