  2. Excellant work CC, and yes i can twitch with the best of them Nice to see you have identified it as a Green Winged Teal
  3. No not a Teal mate, thats definitely a Green Winged Scaup. Only been 2 previously recorded in the British Isles, you will probably get a mention in next months RSPB magazine Maybe as good idea to swatt up on your quarry identification guide before you go out next time

    Goldeneye Deeks

Ive eaten plenty of Tufted Duck Teckle and they have always been delicious, Roasted for 42.39 mins with a parsnip and beetroot juis, cant vouch for Pochard or Shoveler my friend as ive never had the pleasure. I think to some extent the consuming of certain meats/game is a subjective test and will let you know how i get on once Mr or Mrs Goldeneye is on my plate
  5. Does anyone know where i can get hold of some reasonably priced Goldeneye Decoys ?
  6. Get up to speed Bell! I apologise 8 Bore, thought i might have been stating the blindingly obvious old bean
  7. You could try an auto feed hopper, i got one for £70 ish but to be honest it was crap, moisture got in the battery and knacked the job. I would be intersested to hear if anybody has had success with normal feeders. "Why not use a torch if its dark" Because the duck will already be there !!
  8. Excellant read Matt, real pity about the lost goose, that would have been the icing on the cake. Its at times like that i have canvassed my gun and said "thats it , it doesnt get any better" and ive stopped shooting for the day
  9. Big up to all the massive unters on ere, i am 42, err i mean 14, will yous all send me loads of top notch gear for free coz i dont ave a scooby [bANNED TEXT] im doin on my jack. Respek
  10. No problem Stevie, wouldnt want me and you to get off on the wrong footing, anybody can make a mistake
  11. Now now Stevie, you are jumping to conclusions my friend Nowhere do i say that it was the Goosander that met an untimely end, that could get me in some real serious trouble
  12. Yes Stevie youve gotta be quick, tasted rank mind you almost fishy
  13. Well done CL, had a looksy myself today on a stubble and suprised to see huge flock of birds on it . The birds round my way are still in the main in the woods on berries and beech mast, havnt touched the rape yet. Anyway, didnt bother with the pigeons, there were 36 pheasants on the field so i played with those
  14. Stevie you had to be there, twas 6am, cloud overhead, rain in the air and a blanket of fog. Picture it, a quack, a squark, a whistle of pinions and a pack of birds is in your vision for .3 of a second, the gun comes up and down comes a bird. You have it in your hand and look at the birds flying off and say to yourself " well thats different"
  15. Well done Mally, nice to see restraint being shown unlike some
  16. what joy do you get out of shooting a pheasant on the ground, bit of a joke that. they are bred for rough shooting or driven days, not for some half wit to peer over the hide and blast it on the ground. not very sporting that is it. do you shoot your pigeons on the ground aswell. Now now Marky, who is the half wit really ? Stubby who shoots a pheasant on the ground or you who gets arrested, thrown in the cells and then doesnt declare it on his shotgun applicaton
  17. Its strange what species fly together, i had a female Goosander flying with 4 mallard the other day Good job my quarry recognition is mustard
  18. No panick Marky, if it quacks you can shoot it
  19. Shot one the other day, a Greylag, ringed 7 years ago and travelled about 40 miles from place of ringing. Neck ring and BTO leg ring.

Rich, bin the air rifle mate, what you want is a couple of nets strung over the pond instead

    Ringed Greylag

Yes Mudman it was ringed at Nosterfield in 2002, ive reported it to BTO in London but happened upon a local ringers website showing the bird being neck ringed , this gave me the age and location.
