  9. bet it was good to see that, had a peregrine drop into my pattern of shot birds last year,it soon realised something was wrong and made off almost immediately, great to see though
  10. biggest load of bull shit ive ever read on here hares have been lamped since the lamp was invented and id bet theres 1000s more got away than caught. little respect for quarry my arse whats more respectful??? running a couple at night for the pot or running them in the day just to make money and a name for yourself :whistling: sounds about right
  11. yes i have lamped the odd hare over the years pre-ban,to be honest never had a dog that would catch them day time coursing and iv never been into it either(probably a good thing with only keeping bullxs lol), the very few i did come across day time made instant fools of my dogs,iv prob only taken half a dozen in nearly twenty years of lamping and if the dog never caught within a short distance the hare was gone out of sight, they also make good eating wich was a good enough reason for me
  12. mate,im not saying a dog will not take the odd bite that would be ridiculous, but a dog getting "smashed to bits" as was previously said is not doing the job effectively in my eyes. A dog will take more punishment during its first season or two as it learns to to come to terms with its job. No matter how proficient it becomes it will still take some sore ones. Comes with the territory. Any dog being smashed to bits will spend more time in the kennel recovering than working. i don't disagree with that at all mate

  14. a single handed dog getting smashed to bits, doesn't that in its self tell you something of its capability,or lack of it as the case may be,as bunnys said, some good single handed dogs hardly receive any damage at all,if anything iv seen more wounds to the dogs when doubled up, usually the made dog will take the sharp end but can take more damage than necessary with another dog ragging the back end of a fox at the same time, jmo i agree with what your saying about dogs gettin smashed up when doubled up but all we hunt is foxes and i can tell ye we have good single handed lurchers that will t

  16. always go with your instincts mate,if something don't feel right its usually not and time to get the f**k out of there, had a close one the other night myself, had to dump my gear and beat a hasty retreat, dam near finished me off at my age lol, went back in the morning to collect my gear, job done
  17. get it fried up mate, plenty smokey bacon will take the edge off it
  18. liver isnt it?never seen one that bad
  19. sounds like the tactics id use on a small, heavily stocked runs water,id be toning that right down if i was wanting to hit into a few twenties on a hard water where any particle going in will put the kiss of death on a successful session, not all the time granted but regular waters iv fished over the years, but as you already know the lake, being a member of it then i guess your bang on the money, have a good one mate
  20. hooded crows mate Thats the very ones bud, liked the look of these birds cheers don't get them round these parts but seen plenty myself in scotland over thirty years ago, make a change from the norm if nothing else
  21. my guess would also be a crayfish trap,iv seen them nearly the same as that but had two slopes either end, fitted top and bottom with a gap between them and a bait box in the centre,if its not sure we will soon know
