Iam over the moon apart from a bit of lite rust. Its in the same condition as the day i swaped it. wish my luck was like yours, theres a few things ive sold on impulse that id buy back in a shot for same money even When i made the deal a week later i regeted it.So to get the gun back.Over the moon. And now the dog only cost me £250. I think. Haha Iam up£350.A new prosprort would have cost me £450.So i ended up geting the dog for feckall and the gun back. bit slow working out you had a bloody result there mate ,just meant to be i reckon
  5. had the dog flush one from cover not 300yards from the main town center from a little copse on a bit of waste ground,iv seen more during the day this last week or so than at any other time, feeding on the motorway verges as well as out in the fields,im not sure if there is a large increase in the numbers or because of the grey overcast weather we have had lately they seem to really favour these conditions
  6. hi dave hope iv put you on the right track with this site should find everything you need mate and more just dont come to work everyday telling me you been up all night on here
  7. iv only had two collie type lurchers over the years ,to be honest everything came naturaly to both of them very easy to train to a good standard, bull x types iv had to be honest have been easy as well as long as they are treated firm from the outset, the worst i had was a saluki/grey that would cock a deaf un at the drop of a hat and hated being scolded and would sulk like a baby i put it down to me not having the right temprement to train this type of cross
  8. yer i tell her that mate, it been 4months of fighting there not that bad round me. everytime it jumps up stand on one of its back feet it will soon get the message and its worked for many a dog for me over the years, as for the rest of it soon sort themselves out i should imagine just a pup trying it on finding its place

  13. think its an old trick that was done by military personel based overseas for a certain type of jellyfish sting, obviously taught to them by the locals of the region, the amonia in the piss relieves the sting,
  14. only seen them affected on their feet and they aint rough coated on their pads iv used piriton in the past to good affect
  15. it sounds like your saying "feck waiting 6 month" to start training a dog if your going to start it lamping first, just the way it reads maybe ,yes the bonding is paramount from an early age but this is obviously not the case,as in waiting i mean, recall and retrieve firmly in place first for me, dont need to wait to teach the dog basics until its old enough to be out in the field working this is all done as part of the ongoing process leading up to the appropriate time its ready for introducing it to work, hope that makes sense lol Yes watchman to be honest most of my lurchers are ret
  16. bin that,i just meant you dont have to wait 6 month to start training it up if your going to start it off lamping first, thats all i meant
  17. you ask whats best but i dont think there is a best its down to you the owner how you start them off,in my case i always start them off lamping when they are mentaly and physicaly ready,or if you like when i think they are ready,my life style/work commitments doesnt give me much freedom for daytime work, yes of course they get the odd day out mooching about with my older dogs but as for "starting them off"my deffinition is getting them on quarry then its lamping for me,think its really down to what you want from the dog and the type of work you intend it to do,above all always let a pup be a pu
