  1. one thing i will say mate is that from what iv seen when people are feeding them is that they never land to feed, feeding stations use chicken pieces that are small enough for them to pick up on the wing so i would be suprised if they actualy landed to feed off the rabbit as they are very wary, maybe a whole rabbit to bring them in and small pieces they can pick up,i dont know for sure like i say just from what iv seen on the T.V,maybe someone with experiance would put you straight on this

  6. my 6 month old pup running rings around him,he like a fat tub of lard at the minute but really going to concentrate on trying to get him bushing, yeah i know not the ideal bushing dog but once he knows what to look for hopefuly he can get involved
  7. they quoted me £130 mate for the dog which i estimated at around 16kg,and it was a rough guess i admit but thats what they came up with scalesntails :noted and remembered mate cheers for that although cant fault his behaviour or obediance at all, seems he never had a bad start in life just went down hill
  8. mine have had no end of rips and tears over the years mate and like you iv been driven to dispair over it at times but once the healing process has started and time to reflect has set in,well its all part and parcel of working dogs unfortunately but wouldnt swap it for anything, glad your chilled didnt take to long now did it
  9. didnt bore me at all mate nothing better than their first, what i would say is try and get the dog to identify a single rabbit before slipping it nothing worse for you or the dog watching it run ragged amongst multiple rabbits as it wont catch any of them, but hey so far so good mate
  10. cheers for the info but dont really know anyone on the dole so il end up paying to have it done i suppose, still think its to pricey so will have to look into it further but for the mean time he still got something to lick

  13. my missus would like to see more stalls invoving game cookery, not the game pie type of stalls where you have to buy the product just a complete array of different game cooked by normal folk in different ways and free to try with accompanying leaflets with recipes and ideas etc, they could maybe make their money selling little ingrediant bags for what recipes you like and would try yourself at home minus the game obviously, she doesnt mind the "you catch it il cook it part"but does struggle on ideas especialy after reading some of bert the ferrets posts on here yes i did tell her it was o
  14. thanks mate my lad and him are becoming quite the inseperable couple at the moment
  15. hes good as gold mate, showing interest in the rabbit warrens with the lurchers but for no reason other than seems to be enjoying his new found freedom by the looks of things,be nice to get him going on a bit of bushing so il keep at it,poor bugger hadnt been out for a month before i got him some people and their views on having a dog leave a lot to be desired but hes landed on his feet and is like a dog with two dicks really notice the change even after 4 days of having him
  16. Not sure if you might have to be on benefits though. maybe il find someone who is and get them to take him in
  17. i recently took on a pet mutt/house dog what ever he is a staffy mix of some sort but anyway with having lurcher bitches i thought id do the right thing,(dont want any accidental litters enough of those about),and get him done, the lurchers are kenneled and he has the free run of the place but at times when we are mooching about i just wanted to make sure nothing un toward happened behind my back. so today made a few calls to vets for prices, the best price i was offered was £130,the most expensive was £170,now i know its easy to say if you cant afford to pay out for your dog you shouldnt hav
  18. how do you treat your dogs ears if they split them open or tear them on barbed wire,my dogs have had loads over the years but never bad enough to need stitches, infact thats probably debatable as im no vet but iv managed to get the bleeding to stop after a good clean with salt water then i generaly leave them be,as we all know they bleed for england if you muck about with them to much, once a nice dry scab has formed, well usualy by then your home free,so was just wondering what you do initialy. recently took on a pet mutt and had him out today with the lurchers il get the bugger bushing if it k
  19. mine regularly get raw chicken carcasses as part of their diet, never had a problem yet, same with everything iv ever given them game wise just always raw cooked bones become hard and then may well splinter causing problems as you mention
