  1. http://youtu.be/NK8gjuxkq_4 excuse the stammer...
  2. i can remember in my training days reading a report on a experiment by the ministry on "rolland" rat and they found the same with rats
  3. thats exactly what i do...and 9 times out of 10 he is in the first trap.
  4. right you obviously need more space for multicolored gloves so ile do you a favour and take a few dozen traps off your hands its ok thank me later
  5. I'd sooner have a good rifle You don't have to feed it. you cant eat it ether when it stops working...
  6. well i lose traps like feck for no reson at all. they just frit away? i had 50 barrels and my recipts show ive had 5 dozen talpex and 1 doz more duffs in 3 years i not have 40 odd talpex and 19 duffus? yeh go work that out mind ive given a few away and had a few nicked
  7. rubber latex milking gloves...£4 for 100 put 2 on at a time and keep a box on the quad...and used ones make a good sneaky marker for traps
  8. related question...... what do you all think to the (theirs a word for it but i dont want the indignity of looking it up in JN book!) theory that moles can "remember" their tunnel network down the the lest slight bend in the run and shaft...so if you dig down from a hill will the mole "know" their was a upwards shaft right their wear the trap was?? if ya`all catch my drift
  9. well ive found they are under fences walls and hedge backs....i often show farmers how i can trap a mole in a field with no mole hills by finding the main runs they are normaly deep down upto 2ft and about twice as wide as a normal run..their will be the odd hill along it but not a line if hills very often...and can produce mole after mole after mole... some places are easy to keep mole free with one trap left in action all year just moping up any would be incomers
  10. ahh balls, and their was me trying to save a few quid...i can get a VERY VERY good copy of talpex from a ag merchant at about £6.50 each and honestly their good and whilst i have you matt i have a order of duffus in from a secret supplier can you drop me your adress in a pm i would like to send you one to cast your eye over they need tuned to be useable but the build and steel are about the best ive seen and ive got a 6 year old one hear and its still spot on
  11. well in my eyes......i dont like to trap in the feeding areas i like to trap in the main runs and the runs TO the feeding areas....any run under a hill is not a main run. i THINK a mole is more likely to disrupt a trap in the feeding area. and will be trapped faster in a main run or a traveling run.. thou some times if for whatever reason i have to i will put a trap in a hill and it will catch so its likely i and many others are over thinking it all!
  12. when you fall in love with the talpex ebay will be awash with your duffus i go all funy and start makeing odd noises when i get a blocked trap and with the duffus it happens to me way to much! honestly with the talpex its eather got a mole in it or its not sprung.....
  13. has any one used their traps? mainly the talpex type ones? they look good and have a incredible discount on 50 but are they shite or decent traps?
  14. 5bar gate from the field towed behind the quad orrrrr a 5 ft sheep hurdle by hand
  15. i recon a decent group of us (minus the bullx brigade and the beddy/whipped fallow hunters) could make a good go at it...take a couple of female members for the upcomeing newspaper "scandle" and we would be ok! i honestly thing the biggest problem would be bloody flint knives! i would do better than that bunch of jobsworths and baggy breasted feminists
  16. the main trouble for me is the fly by night lads and the farmers boys who do it for beer money at £2-3 a mole! i charge by the mole no other fees unless its a fair way off then ile charge a small mileage fee but i only charge by the mole no trap setting fees just get paid for what i catch and the farmers love it! i dont see how some one can charge by the hour or acre. and i charge a lot less than the competition, i will also travel a long way to trap mole ile even sleep in the truck for a few nights if i have to to make it pay well but moles is moles and money is money!
  17. well i would use a babminton net for the size but use it as a trammel! maybe with 6 inch outers? going by the lack of neck on a rat their not going to ball up well are they? but that said i wouldnt want to take a pissy rat out of a trammel net eather!
  18. ok no im jealous now himselfs in bed after work and ive been out fed animals... coffee then back out to muck out the pig's..... ohhh so romantic here scratch that...i was up at fecking 5...fed mucked out 17 hourses fed 13 donkeys and fed cleaned and excercised 40 hounds and the rest of her dogs gave work the shove and spent all day with her helping out....spent all evening rubbing bloody feet and back....i never even got my card of her and she went to bed at 9 and went to sleep balls to valentines day...i should have out that money to the "importing a Irish harrier" fund!
  19. well it seems ime the most romantic member of thl! a bunch of snowdrops on the table...a BIG bunch of roses with all the trimmings hidden in the lounge with a sickly sweet card....then a dozen roses hidden singularly around the farm. she has been finding them all morning and her face is a picture every time she finds one we can all play the big hunting man thing but still for one day a year its bloody important to show her what she means after all she puts up with! dogs smell dead things and me wandering off at all hours of night. and for the £60 it cost me seeing her face at 6am with a
  20. last week i put 43 traps in a field over 2 and a bit hours (4 acre) and re-traced my tracks on the way out and pulled 13 moles from them a couple still gasping their last. and the next day pulled 17 more from the field, 6 of them from traps that had caught the night before and ended up after 3 day with 41 moles with 2 traps catching 5 moles....down deep in runs along a fence. i think nothing thease days of takeing 1-200 even more off some farms on the first visit i just wish i was further down south and could charge more per mole
  21. intresting stuff! would something like a talpex work? or would they just abandon a run that has been "filled" in?
  22. not often we do but then we do...3 1/2 inch mag 63g of bbs thru half choke........fair stops them but you dont want to fire too many
  23. I am not writing one ... not on trapping anyway, why would I? There are plenty of 'great' books already available to learn everything you need to know ah ime sure i heard you were? never mind lol
