    which island was you on I was out on the Cook Islands. A small island about the side of half a football pitch. It was a 15 minute boat ride from Aitutaki (I think I've spelt that wrong) I think you should start a thread about that experience mate,,,I and I bet lots of others on here would like to here about that

    Well it's heavier than the little rough neck,,,,but a full length spade you don't actually carry,,,unless you tie string to each end and carry it over your shoulder ,,,no you use it like a walking stick,,,and hold the handle and walk with it.... Funily enough when I'm carrying all our rabbits off the hill (ferreting partner is a glass backed fecker),, I won't let him carry the spade as it helps with my decent ,,,keeping me steady..     But not so much the skill, just using one of the ancient hunting arts (albeit in it's modern high tech form) would be a very satisfying feeling to me as a hunter. I still think, in absence of legally being able to stalk a roe or red in English woodland, North America would be the place I'd want to bow hunt. Hell, if I could ever manage to leave the quintessential British hunting sports behind for another life, it'd be North America hunting with bow, hounds and a handfull of traps, hunting the way my ancestors did thousands of years ago.     Must admit it's somthing I've always wanted to do,,,bow hunting that is,, when I was over in oz a good few year back I met lad that I ferreted with,,,and had I had more time he would have took me,,, the closest I got was buying the bow hunting magazines in the gun shops out there,,I had a hole pile of them,,,some incredible creatures killed,,,and at very close range,,,that is one thing I admired,,, the skill in getting real up close and personal with some very dangerous animals,,,especially them water buffalo

    Good post wilf,,,, I have to agree,,I'm not one for the hole trophy thing,,,and would find no pleasure in hunting an elephant ,,,in fact there's a hole raft of large creatures I wouldn't want to kill... Of course I don't want it banned,,,because I understand the conservation that goes on ,,on these estates,,and how much revenu is brought in,,,it's just not for me

    You see I'm still not convinced,,,,yeh I've done it many thousands of times,,,and it's worked,,,but likwaise I've done it many thousands and it hasn't ,,,, So I'm always left thinking,,,would that particular individual rabbit turned back to the dog anyway,,,,that the problem you can never test the theory ,,cos evry rabbit is different .........that said,,I still do it,,lol

    Not to my knowlage,,but he's not my dog,,my kelpie cross would sometimes get like that,,and she was only 1/4 kelpie...everytime I've seen him run he's always been very driven..
