me and my little lad only 4..or 5 at the time were collecting fire wood in the Wood just at the end of my village....literally just dead branches off the ground...didn't even have a saw with me... old boy from the Manor house strolls over and starts having a go...I was almost lost for words...I tried to be polite as I had my kid with me...but he just kept going on..... it was just dead wood I explained. .look no saw...he comes back with ...well it's my land what if I want it. .. not really...i started out as a lamper and ferreter....so long as they did both i didnt really care....in the late 80,s a lot of lads local were moving over to bull crosses...i ended up with a quater bull cross...but most my lurchers were just bitsa types...back then

she was an impulse buy.... i was at Melton Mowbray cattle market....and a chap was walking round with her on a lead...so i has a chat with him and find out hes selling it...but is waiting for a fella who so far hasnt turned up....an hour or two later hes still there and the buyer still hasnt turned up ...he wanted £120 for her but i gave him £60... he explained he was right in to single handed coursing and she wasnt good enough...so was selling her as a lamper ...

me and the mrs had it several years ago in the menzies pie shop on the south of London bridge... i thought the same as you....but i confess to putting a lot of butter in our mash at home and a bit of milk or cream....the french put as much butter in as mash when they make it...and to fair its bloody lovely .. i will say this though...we paid around £7 for both of us at the time...which was bloody cheap when you think about it ...
