  1. having hunted them years ago, as ive got older, i now like to see them, and being now a rabbiting man, ive no interest in chasing or catching.
  2. Used to be some great fields up by my local river 20 years ago you could walk these fields and always kick up a few Hares, last year, and about a fortnight a go i went to the same fields and they are bare, have never seen a Hare, heard they were getting lamped 12 months of the year, and there is a lot of Buzzards about, don't know much about them, but i suppose they will take Leverets.
  3. At about 6 months i introduce them to the Ferreting game, getting them used to the smells, watching the rabbits hit the nets, preparing them to be steady round the nets, and hopefully show signs of marking. I know some will say to young, but its always worked for me, but i have run smaller type, beddy X Whippets and a Whippet. and ive never had yippers.
  4. I have used three Lads that fix them, and the best I have found is pippa, he is on this site. Highly recommended.
  5. I think for postage costs, and material, the shortest tube, you can get away with, would be best.
  6. if anyone makes them, I could be interested, stick up a post.
  7. Very good Socks, my problem would be the otherside of hedgerows, as most are up to 10 or 12 burys all connected. Use to be a bugger on my own, now just go with cumbrianratcher and we use the longnets.
  8. What length is handy, and circumference?
  9. If you have to use a Bedlington who works below ground they are out there, but most are the smaller type, Theres lads on the Working Beddy Forum, that regular work there dogs below ground, and face the sharp end.
  10. years ago when collie x greyhounds were popular in my neck of the woods, saw come good first and 3/4 crosses, all were bred from track greyhounds, They would be easier to get a hold of, than good Coursing lines. It wouldn't bother me if track blood was used, as long as the Greyhound had good feet. or if it was a sprinter, rather than a stayer. as breeding two stayers can produce sprinters and vice versa.
  11. Could be handy for a well used large warren, one that has a lot of cover, and is bad to ferret, but i wouldn't use them ferreting. bad enough lugging the equipment on the old back, without carrying a few of them. for ferreting, would rather stick to the traditional nets, but as i said they do have their uses. And im sure Chalky wouldn't use them on his pest control if they had no purpose.
  12. Regarding coursing strain Greyhounds, I remember at a Scottish National Coursing meeting at Annan. watching two Greyhounds who had come down from Powderhall racing kennels. being track dogs, i don't imagine they would have done much Coursing. they didn't win the event, but both accounted for themselves really well, Regarding Mick The Miller They have him in a case in The Natural History Museum in London, it was a long time since I was there, but I seem to remember he wasn't biggest.
  13. cheers pal, only took me 4 minutes too Baw have you employed a script writer, thats one of the best and sensible posts ive seen on here.
  14. But the whole point gaz is, there has been umpteen threads and posts on here telling owners of ferrets not to feed cat food as its not good for ferrets, and then you come on, saying you feed it, where someone new to ferrets might think its okay reading your posts.
  15. have added to above. ive maybe been lucky, never been bothered with bugs in the straw, I only would use straw if Ferts were on their own, in really hard Weather. If they are doubled up, or more, shavings is enough, as they get heat from each other,
  16. Its not rocket science Winter Months and early Spring, where there are no Flies about, Feed Rabbit, Summertime feed complete, or rabbit pieces put in at night, then taken out in morning, to stop fly blown. Cold Winter Weather, straw, warmer weather shavings. These subjects have been brought up many times, maybe better doing a search first.
  17. You could have had mine of Ebay a Month ago, I have three Mark1s
  18. So does Mike Dadd, but i prefer to use Pippa he is top class. And can certainly sort and service the boxes.
  19. This Company's rates are pretty good, has anyone used them, and do they pay out okay, you can put your dog down as a crossbreed.
  20. I realize it would take a bit of time, to get parts, advertise etc. But if you could get them up and going before the Season starts again, should make a difference to your sales. but i suppose its a big project to get any new piece of kit onto the market. If you do go ahead, best of luck with your venture, As I have said before, Deben must have noticed the demand, and the high price Mark 1s and collars are making, especially on Ebay So you would have thought they would have started production of them again. Although, I would rather give another company my money, as Deben defiantly
  21. My local Vet took two xrays on Friday and Pip was put to sleep on Monday,, The Vet told me Glasgow Vet Hospital would keep him informed, so what a surprise to find his Bill through my door this morning. Thought they would have at least, waited a week.
