  1. Thanks for all the positive posts on this litter, I know the breeder LC put a lot of thought into this litter, only breeding from his Bitch as she was a good wee rabbiting dog. LC sourced a few working Whippets at stud, before making a choice, the rest is up to us.
  2. Was on the Scottish news this morning, if true said he chapped it, he had sent to America for specialist equipment, and brought a Tuna fishing expert over. the fish is worth a fortune, but cant be sold here because of EU regulations. These fish are on the danger list due to the big money on the Japanese market. Personally I think it should have been left alone, and just observed, but if caught by rod and line, it should have been returned unharmed.
  3. Have to agree, get yourself a Bulldog rabbiting spade, a Dog would be handy, if you dont mind me saying, that hillside is littered with burys, the best way to attack it, would be with long, nets and stop nets and a dog pushing the bolting rabbits into the net. save you a lot of time, good write up, with some good clear photos.
  4. 11/16 Whippet, 1/16 Greyhound, 1/4 Bedlington Terrier.
  5. If you are looking for one that takes Rabbits easily, you will need deep pockets, as they make about £300.
  6. My vet told me one Piriton, antihistamine for bad nettle stings and Bee or Wasp stings. He said its a very safe drug to use, I have used it on my Pup with no side effects,
  7. LC The River Nith appears to be having another bad Season.
  8. Says he is 3 years old, was bought for Rabbiting but has lost interest.
  9. Im insured with petplan. my 3/4 Whippet X 1/4 Bedlington is down as a cross breed. Dog insurance is okay if you have a serious accident for eg a broken leg where it would easily cost you a grand or more. What annoys me is the excess they charge, Petplan is £75. and its true when Vets know your insured its happy days.
  10. Pity you don't live nearer I have some good stuff you could have had free gratis. Steve was down visiting me last week, I could have given it to him to drop for you.
  11. wouldn't pay that much for a knife It was a Xmas present, the linc was just put on to show the knifes made by a craftsman, as I said on my post its up to you what you want to use. its your choice. In the past I have used the Jess knife, a Stanley, and an Opinel, they all do the job.
  12. interesting post one lad who was fishing for bass in the Solway Scottish side told me used a breeze block dug into the sand to hold his net, and the tide still moved it.
  13. You see posts on here regular, about the ban being lifted, you have to realise like it or not, it will never be lifted, whatever party gets in. even if Scotland gets independence it just wont happen. you can get all the signatures in the World it aint going to happen.
  14. The problem with beddys, some Lads use them them for out and out digging dogs, Others for Rabbits and ratting, so never the twain will meet. im sure in the right hands these pups will make ferreting companions. Not everyone wants to go digging, the best rabbiting dog i ever owned was a Whippet X Bedlington, and the Beddy she was bred of never went to ground. only worked rabbit and rat.
  15. Theres a few charging £350 to £400 and stud fees £150. best of luck with with your search, try the working whippet forum theres usually a few litters on there, and quite a few blue uns.
  16. Looks like a great day out, some of my best days, have been travelling light, Dogs looking good. Robadoo, hows your Whippet bred?
  17. http://jesknives.co.uk/available.html Im a bit of a tackle tart, not cheap, but cracking knifes, I have his moocher knife which I wear the sheaf round my neck, as i would lose it otherwise. Sharpens well, but as they say its your choice, a Stanley Knife does the same job, or an Opinel.
  18. Some dogs can be queer in their eating habits, my Pup will eat raw heart and Rabbit, but wont touch raw mince, but will if I brown it, with a little Sunflower Oil.
  19. Don't bother fishing now used to have an Association ticket, loved the Cairn, used to average 5 fish a season, off one stretch all on the fly on a single handed rod. great sport.
  20. Do a search on the two crosses, there will be plenty posts.
