  1. Thanks Frank I've had a bit of play with it this afternoon and cant get the Vertical axis anywhere near the line of fire. The L and R adjuster on the side is fully wound out to the Right and a little knurled as if someone has tried forcing it further. Its not a major problem it just means a visit back to the dealer who I know for a fact will sort it out, it was just a bit disappointing today not being able to do some groupings. Thanks again for the advice.
  2. Hi thanks for that. The gun was second hand so already broken in. Also the only paper punching it'll do is zeroing. Incidentally they guy who bought it new has only put about 50 rounds through it according to the RFD
  3. Just back from the farm and a little disappointed that the scope is knackered! Externally its like brand new but I'm shooting 18" left and there's no more adjustment on the scope as the turret is wound fully out. and looks as though someone has used a pliers or something to try and wind it further out. So will the dealer tomorrow and try and get it swapped. its a Hawke AO 6.5 - 20 x 50 IR Nite-eye.
  4. I'm glad its not just me having duff rounds in packs of CCI's! I spoke the RFD I bought the gun off and he spoke to th eguy who bought it new apparently he spoke to Ruger who told him he could take the band off without any problems because they don't fit them to the sporter.
  5. thanks for the replies, I bought the gun today and got him to put a brand new SAK silver Mod on it instead of the black one so it looks really nice! I picked up 100 Winchester 17gr Vmax at the same time so can't wait to get down the farm and try it out!!
  6. And probably dislocate your shoulder!!
  7. Gun fit is everything, if the gun feel comfortable and comes up and falls into place then your shooting will reflect this.
  8. During my interview he asked me why I wanted both. I told him the lower velocity of the .22 made it safer to use at shorter ranges whereas the .17 was more accurate out to 150 yards but too powerful to use at close range. You want the moderators to keep the noise down, although he's unlikely to ask you why you want them its just taken for granted really. I would ring them and ask if they allow .17 for fox because if they do then you have a further reason for applying for it. just put down vermin for the .22 and vermin for the .17 + fox if they allow it. Different forces have different rules.
  9. But in fairness you didn't have any tires on it!!
  10. I asked for both including .223 on mine and was granted all 3. don't forget to put down moderators for all calibers you apply for!
  11. Winchester Rim Fire has a different shape bullet I believe giving it slightly better killing power but less accuracy There is also The WMR Winchester Magnum Round wich has a 24mm case which is the same case that is necked down for the .17hmr. Are you applying for a first time FAC?
  12. There is no such thing as a stupid question, only a stupid answer
  13. Its the same thing mate RF simply means Rim Fire as opposed to CF which means Center Fire. The LR means long rifle and relates to the case length as opposed to .22 short. Have a read of this to get a better understanding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long_Rifle
  14. £60 plus £5 postage. Absolute Bargain!
  15. If the guys a Barrister charge him £600 for turning up to discuss it with him, then Charge him £350 for the letter confirming you will take on the case. Then work on the basis of £600 per day plus expenses and £1000 bonus payable on successfully clearing all the bunnies. Oh and make sure you add Vat on top.
  16. He's a bit of joker but armless enough! Are these the ones you had off Andy legg?
  17. Looks like a bit of coil spring.
  18. Mine is mounted above my gun cabinet. For a SGC you don't really need a separate cabinet. In fact for shot gun cartridges there is no legal requirement to lock them in a cabinet.
  19. The whole system of issuing an FAC is antiquated and the differing attitudes amongst differing forces is bad enough. I would happily pay £50 per year for a system where as an FAC holder I was required to be assessed by a mental health expert and my medical records checked. I know there can never be a perfect system but in most of these cases there seems to have been some sort of warning that a person is having some difficulties in life. Yet these warnings seem to go ignored. I also feel than any changes should be coming from within the shooting world such as BASC etc. because we need to be see

  21. So whats the advantages/disadvantages of a .17cf compared to a .17rf?
  22. My .223 conditions are for the shooting of Fox and other Medium Quarry! I can't help wonder what other Medium quarry we have here in the UK? Prairie dogs, Ground Hogs, Dingos....
