  1. As said just give them time, you'll get some small eggs, some odd shaped ones and even some without shells. But in the end they'll all come good!
  2. I wouldn't count on it. Look at the cases of people who have been convicted with possession of a S1 firearm for holding an air weapon which is over the legal limit, even when they bought it in good faith from an RFD. It is the possession which is an offence, it matters not how you came to be in possession. Maybe they would prosecute, maybe not, I'd rather not take the risk! Now the weapon is back with them. Point out to them the risks that they have exposed you to. A cock-up like that shouldn't happen! I agree its not worth the risk which is why I suggested he took the gun ba
  3. I don't know what you mean by that mate?? Yes he walked free, but he should never have been charged in the first place. Cases like that make some people not trust the police and intentionally break the law. Irrespective of how many coppers he was sleeping with, he rang up in good faith to report a criminal offence, followed the instructions, then got hung out to dry. I'd rather throw an illegal firearm in the sea than hand it in. What I mean is that it wasn't simply a case of a guy finding and handing in a weapon. He kept hold of it for 4 days insisting on handing it in to t
  4. Although I agree with much of what has been said on this thread, I personaly don't think you would be at risk of losing your Certificates in this case. You bought the gun in good faith and trusted the RFD. As long as you make every effort to return the gun as soon as the Dealership is open then I cant see how you could be punished. However the RFD could be in trouble for the mistake. As for the case of the ex soldier being charged for handing in a gun he found, there is a liittle more to the story than that comment would have you beleive. http://www.thisissur...tail/story.html
  5. when i applied i just put in for 22rf and it came back with 22rf i asked the question and was told as long as i purchased a 22rf everything was ok, that was a long while ago mind, so i think its a case of mistakes and missinterpritation by the individual firearms depts, again Yes I agree, I think a lot of it is the fact that the staff who type these things up genuinely don't understand the differences in case types and calibers. I'm pretty certain that the home office guidlines stipulate only that the Calibers should be listed "but I might be wrong". After all a .22Lr, .22WMF, .22CF are
  6. I asked this very question when I received my FAC back it just says.22 on mine, So I assumed maybe I could choose any .22 I wanted. Wrong!! I spoke to the Firearms dept and they clarified it for me, basically I can only have a .22lr if I want a WMR then they class that as a seperate "caliber" and I would need to apply for a variation.
  7. It also needs to be writen on your certificate with the details of the seller, ie their RFD no. or FC no. in exactlt the same way as it would be if you were to purchase a rifle.
  8. that gives a bad name Only if you beleive what is said in the photo. Who's to say it wasn't produced by some Anti. What if the caption said. "Shot this fox after it killed the deer" of "Shot fox whilst feeding on road kill deer." Having said that I do not support deer poaching at all.
  9. I agree, it looks like they've got the wording the wrong way around. going on what they've put you cannot shoot Fox with your .223.
  10. Simonrees your answer is incorrect. As the original question stated TODAY ! My answer is correct! even if its today! If you go and buy a gun from a gun shop you don't have to wait a week until the police receive the paper work before you can go and use it do you!
  11. If he doesn't already own a .308 and has a slot on his ticket and permission on the land all you need do is complete a transfer form with the gun details and state borrowed, and send it to the Firearms dept. job done you're all legal. it just means the rifle will be on both your tickets. You don't even have to wait for them to receive it, as long as the details have been filled in on his ticket you state "Lent" So YES!
  12. Theres no straight forward answer to this because a lot depends on your police force. And it also depends on what you want to do with the rabbits afterwards. A .17hmr will give you edible rabbits with a head shot and also stop a fox but some police forces don't allow you to apply for a .17 for fox. We then get into a huge debate over calibers and abilities etc. Of course at the other end of the scale a .223 or a 22-250 will cleanly kill foxes and of course kill Rabbits, but the end result is a sort of rabbit puree spread over half an acre. I don't believe any police force would grant such a ca
  13. A closed ticket means you can only shoot on land where you have permission and where that land has been cleared by the FEO as suitable for various calibers. With an open ticket you can shoot on any land where you have permission but it doesn't have to be cleared by the FEO. this means that you are trusted to make a judgment yourself as to its suitability to discharge a firearm.
  14. No it was the Old PNGs (Passive Night Goggles) I also have stories about firing 30mm RARDEN's (CVRT Scimiters) on Hohne ranges and "Accidentally" hitting a herd of deer running across the range!
  15. Many years ago whilst on exercise in Germany, I was on duty at night in a large forest. a few wild Boar had wandered into the ground between me and the vehicles. Through the night vision I could clearly make out some young piglets and a few other adult Boars. I felt they were getting too close for comfort so I decided to make a dash for the vehicles. Well I must have upset momma pig because she gave chase! Let me tell you I've never been so scared in all my life, I could hear her getting closer and closer, I must have covered that 100 yds faster than Hussein Bolt! So I can tell you from
  16. There isn't really any difference physically but in order for you to hold one you need to have a slot on your ticket. The daft thing is you can buy a mod and fit it to your non fac air rifle, but it needs to be on your ticket if you wish to fit it to your FAC Air rifle. However if a mod is designed for a rimfire or center fire rifle. you can legally own it as long as you don't hold an FAC, but as soon as you are granted an FAC the mod then becomes section 1 and has to be on your ticket. Welcome to the crazy world of firearms licensing.
  17. £425! for that you'd at least think they'd learn to spell *Keenel..
  18. Regarding mediums or psychics. Have a read of this. It was posted on FB yesterday by Derren Brown. http://psycicornot.wordpress.com/
  19. Chris get your self over to Phil Ash in kenfig, tell him I sent you. He'll do you a deal mate. (South & West Country Sports)
  20. For the record I don't believe in any of it, all I'm saying is that it freaked me out for a few weeks!!
  21. Used to do it as a kid, imagine 9 teenagers (girls & boys) slightly drunk doing this in an old cemetery at night on Halloween. Each of us had a finger on a glass placed in the center of a circle of letters. One of the girls asked the question "Are there any spirits there?" The glass began to move, firstly to the letter D then the letter E then A then T then H, by this point we were screaming like a bunch of girls and running as fast as we could. Unfortunately it was decided someone had to go back and smash the glass to break the OMEN!! That person was me.......Never dabbled in the Occult s
  22. I think this falls under the estate condition, but the wording isn't as precise as some would like. I think the main argument is who is classed as the occupier, some say it can be any person who has shooting rights, others say it has to be the land owner or even his agent. I don't think anyone has ever been prosecuted for it. Just apply common sense and give them a brief safety lesson first and keep within a reasonable distance.
  23. You cannot shoot deer with a Shotgun unless its humane dispatch. "Slugs" or sold shot cartridges are Section 1 so you cannot be in possession of them for any purpose. Can I respectfully suggest you have a good read of the BASC website and familiarise yourself with all the rules and quarry species, seasons etc associated with the sport you are about to partake. You submit 2 photos, 1 signed by your referee.
