  2. I THINK THIS IS WHAT HE IS SAYING..... The fox is a clever animal, i found a young fox last year, i fed & trained it like a dog, it respected & acknowledged 1 word commands. pitty fox is persecuted in the uk, some times i see killing for no reason, because its just a fox ! what happens next, is polecat maybe chew him nose ? NOT SURE ABOUT THE LAST BIT... Lol
  3. They look the business especially the charging times as you can charge them from the car between farms etc, I might have to take the plunge although just shelled out for a sauer 202 6.5x 55 so the lead acid batteries might have to suffice for another while.
  4. Can 6.5 be used on boar or is a little too small ?
  5. Hi john if you zero 1" high at 100 what does is drop out at 200m Keith
  6. As a Rough guide what bullet weights work with what twist rate in this caliber
  7. I will get this One threaded as well, nice weight a balance without a mod though. It is 2nd hand but the wood is very nice and rifle is like new.
  8. Just bought a sauer 202 in 6.5x55, waiting on my fac coming back. Anybody else use this caliber or model of rifle? Regards Keith
  9. Just wondering if there is any feedback on the li-ion 10ah batteries I want to use it with 100 watt lamp
  10. Excellent topic and answers some of my questions as well. Is it exceptable to shoot boar with a 6.5 x55. I am torn between 308 and 6.5x55 at the moment, I would like a single rifle for deer etc and boar if I ever get the chance, so I sm tending towards the 308
  11. i have started my GWP this week with trailing and i am using cows blood. I have a quick question on how much blood do you use when laying the trail, articles i have read advise on a few drops along the trail at interval of say 10meters, is this literally a few drops at this stage. I am using a squeezy bottle and i am currently using a good squeeze to mark the intervals. I know that in practise you wont get this much blood down the trail but to start a dog how much is used?. keith
  12. I have a couple of lamps that I use on my 223, I recommend the lightforce 170. It Is light and you can easily use it off the scope if you want.
  13. Hello Mate I have no experience in deer traccking with a GWP, but I do have one myself and she is excellent for falconry, shooting, ferrteing and bushing with the lurchers. I am not a professional dog trainer but if need any advice on general tarining I can help you if you like. You can PM me and I will give you my tele no. They are very easy to train - my little bitch pionts muntjac and foxes but I have never trained her to do so. She will piont anything that sits for her !! Big up the GWP's !!! Terrys i find them a pleasure to be around ( most of the time), mine
  14. myself and a couple of friends are staying in telford for the midlands game fair later this year, i will give you a shout nearer the time and maybe meet up for a chat etc. i should be getting some goat blood this week and will make a start on saturday, regards keith
  15. Cheers waidmann where about are you located? . I am looking forward to getting started with dog, she shows a lot of promise in other areas but I want to get her trailing before I work any further on rough shooting etc.
  16. thanks for the replies, The dog is about 14 months now, i have read the book (soft back) by guy wallace regarding tracking etc and i plan to use it as a start. I am workinn alone at the moment so i guess most of my information will come from the book or net. When you talk about dipping and dabbing do you mean like a soaked cloth dipped every few meters etc until the end of the trail. I will get some blood from a slaughter house and give it a try. regards keith

I am in n. ireland and would prefer to pickup and get a chat with someone local if possible. thanks in advance keith
