Thats very odd never heard of that one befour mate

We would never leave the hob in with the jill and kitts but some ferret owners have done with success But to be honest its not worth taking that chance leave the jill in peace with her babies on her own
-
End of august for us on the open burries then as the nettles/undergrowth dies back move to the others
-
Thanks for all the replies daughter is ok today our silver jill is due to have kitts on 14th may so she is gonna keep one of them not as a replacement of her old girl but just as a kitt she can call her own ferret as my daughter is a very keen ferreter and likes to watch her own ferret working along with the other 10 we work
-
Our old polecat jill died in her sleep tuesday she was 13yrs 1week old my daughter hasnt stopped crying yet she has had her since she breed her from a kitt the old girl bolted absolutly hundreds of rabbits in her life and she was still working small burries up untill she was 12 she also never so much as nipped anyone in all her life she will be greatly missed by us even more so by my daughter who is now 21 and heart broken the other ferrets in the court seem to be looking for her R.I.P tilly

congrats good luck with em mate

Alittle girl goes into a pet shop and asks in the sweetest little lisp voice excuthe me mithter do you have any widdle wabbits ? as the shoopkeepers heart melts he gets down on one knee to be at her level and asks do you want a widdle white wabbit or a thoft and furwwy bwack wabbit or maybe one like that cute widdle bwown wabbit over there ? the little girl blushes rocks back and forth on the heels puts her hands on her knees and says in her tiny sweet voice I dont fink my python weally giffs a ssshit
-
Everyone to there own i suppose but we would never breed brother and sister no matter how good they work
-
Same hear we have been out lamping a few times with the rimfire and shot quite a few but its doesnt seem to give you the same buzz as ferreting the rabbits seem to there is just something about a rabbit hitting a purse or longnet that a gun never seems to be able to equal i suppose its because with lamping you dont have to put so much phisical effort into it
-
Also dont overlook if its a jill you have keep an eye on her coming into season if she is or when she does its adviseable to get her taken out of season either by the jill jab or a loan of a vasectomised hob As ideation said keep 2 if you have the room cos ferrets are very sociable and keep each other company i wouldnt bother ferreting this time of year you will be forever digging good luck mate
-
A box is a much better idea than a bag mate and when you get yourself some purse nets try and go for the better quality its worth spending that extra few quid go for spun poly or nylon or if you go for the plain nylon a min of 6z or 10z even better try and steer well clear of 4z nylon nets they are cheap for a reason they are rubbish Glad you enjoyed your ferreting trip and good on yer for doing a bit of research befour you end up rabbiting mad like the rest of us GOOD LUCK mate and hope you have some good sport next season
-
We personaly dont ferret in spring/summer but there are a lot of paid pest controlers that successfully do wish you all the best of luck and dont forget youre spade cos youre proberbly gonna need it
-
Nice one mate glad shes back home
-
Any of the 2 ways will bring your jill out of season if you can get the jill jab done cheap enough and you only have a couple of jills to take out of season then do it that way but check prices 1st we got quoted £37 a ferret for a friend which is just crazy and greedy but there are a lot cheaper vets out there other than mine We have 10 jills to bring out of season so a vasectomised hob is the better way for us at least you are sensible enough to get your jills sorted rather than breeding unwanted litters of kitts good luck with whichever way you choose to take them out of season
-
Do nt forget to ask your local cop shop rspca and any other local ferret rescue centres to where you live you may get lucky hope you get her back ok
-
Got quoted £37 per ferret no this in not a missprint £37 the robbing bas**rd It wasnt for us we were inquiring for a friend of a friend so we are gunner give them a lend of bert our vasectomised hob
-
We were told by our vet leave it 2 months to be sure ?? So we did and touch wood all was fine NO kitts
-
They are a cracking looking little animal the stoat and a lethal little killer as well not so loved by gamekeepers we bolted 3 this year out of different rabbit burries thankfully they are no match for a ferret NICE PICS THERE MATE WELL DONE
-
All i can say is the people who treat any animal like this are cold heartless cowards who can sit and watch a defenceless caged animal suffer like this ITS MAKES ME SICK thank god for the rescue centres all round the country they deserve a lot of credit
-
Its cruel SICK FU**ERS that do this sort of thing is the reason we all get tared with the same brush The antis use this sort of sick passtime to use against All people that ferret when telling jo public what we get up to I for one would never and dont ever want to be part of this cruelty no matter how much i was offered per rabbit
-
Well said festa it often gets overlooked that rabbits cause massive damage to roads/buildings/even railway lines and as we can see in festas post gas pipes ect etc the list is endless So its not just crops/grass/and trees they damage so next time an anti comes up to you and asks why are you killing the poor little bunnies they dont do any harm take a deep breath and tell them in no uncertain terms to FU*K OFF they are clueless
-
The trouble with continuing ferreting if it was made illegal is if you get caught you then might get your gun certificates taken off you for having a criminal offence would it be worth risk loosing them as well ???? Im prettty sure ferreting will never get banned in the uk but commercial pheasant shoots thats a different matter the pain in the ar**e antis are saying this is there next target lets all hope these wan**rs NEVER get there way
-
Nice to see fellow rabbiters setting you up with the right gear and ferrets And well done on your day out mate
