well the birds were going at it real early this morning and had me awake well before first light , so i was away to one of my local spots for a few rabbits as the sky started to brighten up i was just settling the scope onto the first victim of the hunt, the deadly quiet and accurate airms s410 handled like a dream and i pulled off some very impressive shots even for me the only down side was carrying the rabbits home heres the final tally GOODHUNTING ALL WOODGA
-
Well since the feilds have been drying out a little with the windy conditions we have had lately i decided to have a rake around some driveable feilds just to see what rabbit numbers were like we saw a fox working some rushes hunting a mouse , its lucky the bigger gun was not in the motor that will have to go before we snare up those feilds any way there was a few about and the feilds were still wet in places but we got a few and it looks good for later when we can get around the place with no worries of getting stuck a pic of the end result two hours exactly GOODHUNTING
-
rob got there an hour before grey dark and the place is moving we will have to have mooch with the rim fire , that feild behind the mast moved with rabbits when we arrived GOOD HUNTING ALL WOODGA
-
my dad likes to have a wander with his air rifle just to keep his hand in so to speak did one move then and my bunch with the air arms enjoyable couple of hours :: GOODHUNTING ALL WOODGA

WELL AS THE WEATHER HAS BEEN DRY OVER THE LAST FEW MORNINGS I WENT FOR A LOCAL MOOCH AROUND ONE OF THE LOCAL FARMS THE AIR RIFLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN HANDY ON THIS FARM AS IT IS VERY NEAR PUBLIC DWELLING AND A .22 IS NOT ALLOWED ON THIS LAND,I REALLY ENJOY THIS TYPE OF SHOOTING AS YOU HAVE TO STALK INTO RANGE OF THESE RABBITS AND THE END RESULT IS MOST SATISFYING ITS NOT ABOUT NUMBERS THIS TIME, IT WAS ABOUT ENJOYING THE SIGHTS A FOX TRAVELING ALONG THE EDGE OF A FEILD WITH A RABBIT OBVIOUSLY ON ITS WAY TO FEED CUBS BUZZARDS FLYING HIGH, AND SEVERAL RED KITES
-
yes we both had thoughts along those same lines about you being fecking hopeless but it seems as though there is light at the end of the tunnel just keep those wires up and you wont go far wrong as for any one interested in snaring with a hands on approach contact p&G if ryan can catch in the wires any one can  good one son keep it up GOOD HUNTING ALL WOODGA
-
those snare are to be blunt shite , but since you have them and you want to use them as peg wires you can add a peg made of hard wood 6 or 7 inches long your choice depending on the ground you want to snare drill a hole 1 inch from the top of the peg put the twine through this hole tie a double knot that wont slip back through the hole when pulled, then cut a few hazel tealers about as thick as a pencil around 7 inces long make a slit in the top of this wand to hold your snare wire over the run when you have knocked the peg in along the line of travel , this is old style
-
First snaring since P&G's course
woodga replied to Rabbithunter's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
galeforce winds a bit of rain wont make a difference thats when the rabbits travel then you can pick up good numbers in the wires still nights with no wind are bad nights for snaring as with frosty nights the rabbits wont travel out to feed in those conditions staying nearer to cover, good hunting all woodga  -
