  2. LOL Gary mate Im glad that you like it and i do hope it helps others with their own shooting abilities Si
  3. Hi all, After speaking to Sweeney and Sib last night on here I was asked if I would do some video footage of me shooting my recoiling Air Arms Pro Sport rifle while explaining my technique to people on here. Today I set off into one of my permissions with the camera and made this short 10 minute film. In this film you will see me sizing targets in reference and comparison to 1.5 inch kill zone sizes, you will then see me explaining how I shoot and my own technique from forming a solid shooting foundation to the shot being released and followed through. Finally you will see me d
  4. Nice pair of twins there Shay You jammy sone so Si
  5. Hi Davy pal, Yes Air Arms quality is defo top class mate isnt it? Just goes to show that you dont need to have a Air Wolf to hit long range targets. Im pretty certain with the quality of HW, Air Arms and BSA plus others i havent listed (not to offend others) that they all produce rifles now with an accuracy better than the shooter can actually shoot if matched with the correct pellet. Im off to do some more shooting today, and am going to see how the Pro Sports does at 50 metres on 30mm, 34mm and 40mm targets. The 30mm and 34mm are well within the kill zone size and the 40m
  6. Hi mate the reason you missed at the close range was probably due to your rifle being zeroed at 50 yards. This is far to far and leaves the kill zone area really quickly over your rifles trajectory. I have checked my ballistic software and entered the settings for a .177 rifle set at 11.49 ft/lbs using a 10.5 grain pellets withy a 25mm kill zone size. If you now zero at 32 yards you will stay within your kill zone along your trajectory from 8 yards right out to 32 yards. Needing only the slightest bit of hold over at 45 yards I hope that this helps you pal It will ensur
  7. You bring yourself a nice hunting present back Davy from the Big Apple? I remember how cheap hunting kit it is over there from when i went 2 years ago pal. The fishing tackle is just amazing there. Si
  8. It weighs a tonne pal and not the rifle you want to be tabbing about with up and down hills. Great from a hidden location though, at distance dropping targets I know a SF sniper from another nationality very well that used one in Afghanistan doing a very serious and professional job. He is so good at his job that he was given his own name by the local Afghans militia and became very high on their hit list. He has a few stories to tell people but not the sort I’m willing to expand on in this forum pal Si
  9. LOL Richard Ill see what i can do tomorrow if the wind is down in my woods pal. Ill take my rifle rest with me pal so should get some good results fingers crossed. Ill extend the range to 50 metres with the Pro Sport if i can find enough space in the woods. Ive thought of another filming technique this evening pal. Im going to zoom in to show the distance to the target, zoom out to a viewable distance, and then after the shot im going to zoom back out so viewers see the shot is still at 50 metres. Im sure people think im trying to pull their legs with distance S
  10. Hi Richard, No mate i think that my R10 and HW100KT are happy to be staying mine LOL . Thanks for the comments mate anyway. I will try and get some footage put together mate on how i use a springer. To be honest though pal i dont hold it or shoot it any different to how i hold and shoot my PCPs or shoot a military rifle. The same technique is used all the time. The military teach you to shoot using something called the Marksmanship principles. Here they are but put into civilian terms for people on this section 1. The position and hold of your rifle must be fi
  11. I only have 3 years left in the military pal then ive done 22 years and can retire to another job. Something that i am interested in lots. I fancy breeding trout on a farm or becoming a pest controller specilising in the use of a air rifle. Id also like to work on a camping site somewhere with fishing ponds. Ive got a level 4, 5, and 6 from the institute in leadership and management, but are not to interested in management at the moment unless the job flicks my switch buddy. Si
  12. Im off to sunny Hohne again pal Ill have a brati and for you mate when i get over there at the end of next week. Im going to miss the freedom of shooting with the air rifles though pal. Real gutted Si
  13. LOL Bill, Hes been too busy eating bison and drinking Irish stout to buy post cards Si
  14. Thats a nice rifle that mate. Do you know what it is? It shot and killed a member of my last Regt in NI a few years back from about 1.5 miles away over the border. It went straight through his breast plate body armour when the troubles were bad over there. Ive also shot one of them in Sennelager Germany. I shot it at a wall to demonstarte that in NI you cant hide behind garden walls and think your safe. It took the wall out. Its called a barrette Light 50 calibre. Its not so light though pal. I think it has a 5 shot mag if I remember correct. Si
  15. Scum bags they are I cant imagine life without my little terrorist. If anything happened to him i think id die of a broken heart . Si
  16. LOL Bill, What Regt did you serve in pal and where was you stationed buddy? I have lived there before too mate and was a deer and wild boar hunter, I did my German Jag Schein (Hunting Licence), but to tell you the truth its boring as hell sat in the high seats waiting for a deer or a boar that is on the shooting list at that particular time of year to turn up and be a target . Half the time the a deer would turn up and not be on the list that month . I will get back into it again i think though and give it another go. I will get myself a 308 (7.62 calibre) mate and see
  17. Hi Bill, Thanks for your comments pal Its very kind of you buddy . I know in myself that i want to improve quite alot more with a springer though as its a recoiling rifle ill be using in Germany. I will look at making a small video on that subject though pal before i go to Germany. The problem with YouTube though is that you are only allowed 10 minutes per video so ill either have to edit it to death or make it in two parts to get the techniques over to the viewer. Ill look into it pal. Si
  18. I wish you well mate with the FX pellets, i think you will like them. Si
  19. Cheers Farmer mate. It would of been better if i had hit the little blue top first shot mate, but thats life as they say. Im sure with a few more months of practice with the springer ill know its holdover a points little better. Saying that i shot slightly left, but correct for up / down, so it was probably more of a wobbly due to not having a proper rest with me and resting it on my knee . Si
  20. The flipping tiny blue bottle top at the start of the footage (second target) was a bit of a nightmare to find my point of aim Shay, as it was right on a circle of the SR12 reticule and I was wobbling about like a mad man in a gale force wind . I had 2 shots at it before I knew where to aim to get it spot on. The first shot went a little left by about 5mm and the second shot nailed it. Once id found my POI though i just used it for the rest of the test and it worked just fine. Video editing software is good stuff though mate and allows you to miss all that rubbish and misses
  21. Yep thats not a problem Shay buddy. I will keep the forum updated of my ventures. Im sure that i will dream something up over there to video for you all. Yep as you say mate a springer is as good as the shooter and if time is spent learning to shoot correctly the rewards will be there. Si
