For some its a ritual of passage!! You've been involved in the hunt or chase and being bloodied means you've been at the conclusion ie:the kill There's still a lot of these old hunting traditions being continued eg: in some parts of Germany and Eastern Europe at the conclusion of either stalking or hunting deer or wild boar, a handful of grass or herbage is placed in the dead animal's mouth! some say its the hunters way of giving the animal a last meal before its spirit moves on? this is done with some reverence and a great deal of respect Tom

Got bloodied over 40 years ago with a local hunt , just part of a dying tradition, Unfortunately If I did it to my grandkids today they're Granny and Mothers would kill me Tom

There's a Scotsman driving through Europe and an Englishman driving in the opposite direction. In the middle of the night, with no other cars on the road they hit each other head on and both cars go flying off in different directions. The Scotsman manages to climb out of his car and survey the damages. He looks at his twisted car and says, 'Och Man, I am really lucky to be alive!' Likewise, the Englishman scrambles out of his car and looks at his wreckage. He too says to himself, 'Blimey I can't believe I survived this wreck!' The Englishman walks over to the Scotsman and sa

Foxgun Tom replied to tango's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Albert J's kind offer of donations seem extremely good to me! I know how hard sometimes it can be to get sponsors for a club show? That's my task at the moment for my own clubs show in May (NEILSTON WORKING DOG ASSOCIATION) Tom -
Hope the Falconry Mods don't mind?? I Posted this here in case the falconry and hawking lads don't often look in the for sale section? Have a peep at the books on offer Tom

This is definately the best show in the country!! and I'm glad to say that Neilston Working Dog Association, Annual Lurcher and Terrier show held on May 9th 2010 is a qualifier for this!! The EDRD show is the ultimate Lurcher and Terrier event of the year Tom

I know with some of our dogs were selective in breeding in special traits, temprament height, colour type of coat etc: A guy I know breeds sheep and supplies fleece's to a woolen mill , the mill are now closing their dye room and paying of four staff because of my mates ingenuity and breeding programe he's supplying fleece's in natural developing colours, Should he feel guilty about the redundancies?? Below is a photo of his flock and I've ordered two fleece's in hunting Cameron tartan for a new kilt Tom

As far as I'm aware there's no lurcher show at Scone Palace and there has'nt been for a long number of years. I'm a regular visitor to the Scottish Game Fair and used to man a stand there!! Neilston Working Dog Association near Glasgow will have there annual show on the 9th of May 2010 where lurchers will be included Tom SCOTTISH GAME FAIR. Scone palace,Perth July 2nd 3rd and 4th 2010

Jeeeez!!!!!!!!! please grant me with some intelligence, I did read the post and he was'nt given an offer/opportunity or asked to come and judge? he was in fact! asked for his contact details and the comment was made: "were always looking for judges that will judge without any criticism beeing levelled agaainst them" Thats very different from asking the lad to judge a show?? He also made it clear he was critical of some show's in Scotland and had no interest in judging, ( the lads entitled to his views and opinions) It was then you instigated the personal attacks on a comple

This is supposed to be about show's in Scotland and has denegrated into a personal argument and insult with two people who obviously don't know each other?? Chancer is entitled to his opinions on show's most are valid and some of them I agree with (not all) We have to understand that Lurcher and terrier show's and the organisers of the same are not above criticsism (its not personal), We at Neilston welcome it!! especially if its constructive and it helps us to improve the public impression of the working dog enthusiast and the reputation of our club and its endevours and aims?, as well as

Exactly right This thread should deleted or closed and meanwhile in the background we should help and support the lads in any way we can!! Tom

Obviously you have'nt attended any NWDA show??, your cordially invited I attend EDRD every year and was one of last years sponsor's I also arrive early and help the organisers set up (will be doing the same this year) Neilston Working Dog Association show works under the exactly same ethos as EDRD (there!! is a clue in the 2nd word of the club's name ) and that is to provide a showcase for the best in working lurchers and terriers as well as promoting the same!! All the best Tom DO NOT ATTEND ANY SHOWS IN SCOTLAND FELLA LAST SUMMER I WAS IN FITS OF LAUGHTER AT SOME

Neilston Working Dog Association, members meeting 22 January 2010 top of the agenda this years show !! this will include lurchers same as last year NWDA Terrier and Lurcher show usually 2nd Sunday in May. There will be a detailed announcement about some unique and exciting developments about the show in the sporting press and elsewhere that hopefully will grab the attention of lurcher and terrier-men throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK and!! hopefully will result in our biggest ever turn-out of working dog enthusiasts:thumbs: Tom Ps: Unfortunately no lurchers at Sc

I certainly did'nt say or suggest sweep it under the carpet or lets not talk about it!! (there's a time and place to discuss things and I personally don't think its the time or the place now? while the plods are still investigating?) If some-ones arrested it does'nt mean they have been charged? a big difference!! Lets not pre-empt any situation with speculation, or innuendo? Something has happened and the details will be forthcoming. let's leave it at that!! and in the meantime keep giving the lads alledgedly involved our support Tom Ps: my last post on the matter for now? Yeah
-
Please!! let's avoid any speculation or comment at the moment until those allegedely involved make comment! We don't want to play into anyone's hands by giving misinformation? Tom

Also if the deer has been lying any length of time and anyone considers it for human consumption be carefull and reconsider!! If the stomach or bladder is ruptured the contents can and does infect the meat as well as tainting it!! Tom
-
There's a thing called reduced to ownership!! While the deer is alive it belongs to no-one because its a wild animal? unless it is in an enclosed space, Deer park etc: If its dead and lying on the verge or on the road? it technically belongs to the owners of the road eg:local authority (reduced to ownership) A further example of this is! If I shoot a pheasant on ground I have permission on! and it fall's on neighbouring land where I don't have permission? the pheasant is reduced in ownership to the owner of the adjoining land and if I don't have permission to retrieve it? its theirs!!!
