  1. Since that one I've had several more on that spot IanB. The lands very close to an urban area, so there's always a steady influx of Foxes which need controling. Kenny
  2. I'm not sure what to make of this, I feel slightly offended at you poo pooing my experience, sure I may not have held a FAC as long as others, but does that devalue my knowlege and experience? also I am not sure what you mean by "it not cutting any ice", I merely included this information to "reassure" members who may not have seen me on the forum, that I was not anti shooting, and not a device to provoke. I find your post rather condecending. the thread is not aimed purely at fox shooters look through Sporting Rifle magazine, and many of the big game photos in there will be not what I would
  3. Cheers Dave. Nutjob? I'd gladly take that as a compliment, lol.
  4. This'll be my bitch's first season too, (after having lurchers for over 30 years I was without one for a couple, and it left a big hole in my life!) She's catching rabbits very well but same as yours, she's not spotting them in the beam straight away yet, but that'll soon come with experience. You've obviously got him fit, so as long as he's enjoying it, get him out, and he'll soon learn. ATB for the season.
  5. Nice looking pup, looks like she'll turn out just fine. Regarding neutering her, I personally wouldn't unless there's a medical reason, but that's just my opinion. ATB, Kenny
  6. Well done John. I use a similar set up to you, with traps in boxes set permanently, I find that this generally gets any visitors before they have chance to 'set up home'.
  7. This Fox had been seen taking Chickens from a nearby farm, and he was also suspected of being responsible for a couple of Lambs that had disappeared. I found that he'd been lying up in a Badger Sett, so it was a case of waiting at dusk till he emerged. I know some of the comments on here refer to showing graphic images of dead animals, but IMO most of them, including this video demonstrate just how quickly and cleanly we dispatch our quarry (far quicker and cleaner than the chickens, most of which were left headless, strewn around the run). 8. Fantastic stuff - seeing them flat out's 'poetry in motion'.
  9. Must've seen me coming! But just check that yours has a hole in both ends!!
  10. I live on the edge of the N.Yorks moors. Lots of Barn Owls are killed on roads when either hunting the verges or as they fly across. One was killed last week only a couple of hundred yards from where the pics were taken. On a brighter note, they do seem to be on the increase.
  11. The answer to your question is: when using an IR filter you can't see anything at all with the naked eye.
  12. As well as numerous cuts and tears to my dogs, I've lost two over the years. Both on ground that both I and the dogs walked and worked almost daily. The first was on a Rabbit that turned and went out of the lamp, I heard a faint whine and when I got there the Rabbit had gone through some netting which had a loose strand of barbed wire at the top, the bitch (who was a good jumper)must've slipped as she took off, and caught the inside of her back leg, in the groin area, on a barb. She lay dead where she'd landed, having punctured the main artery. The second put up a Hare in the daytime, which a
  13. Thanks for the comments. It's definitely a Vole .If you look closely (at this and some of the other pics I took in the sequence)you can see by the length of the tail that it's a Field Vole. Had it been a Bank Vole the tail would have been even longer. Also the blunt nose, which is visible in some of the other pics indicates a Vole rather than a mouse. Kenny
  14. Thanks for the comments. Here's a couple more photos, the pair are two of 5 chicks reared that year. They've successfully reared young there for several years now.
  15. Hello and welcome. Good luck with getting a dog. ATB.
  16. Not one of the best photos I've taken, but I quite like the shot.
  17. I used to use a T8, but replaced it last year with a wildcat predator 8 which I find much better. Being stainless, and completely strippable is also a bonus. They sell for around £250.
  18. Really good stuff, like it a lot!
  19. Most (if not all) compact digital cameras take a while to lock on to the subject, and many don't have a fast enough shutter speed. A DSLR would probably be the best bet for this type of photo, there's usually a lot on ebay. Hope this helps, Kenny
  20. Never thought of that... I'll have to keep checking in the mirror!! ATB
  21. Thanks for the comments, Glad you like the pic. All the best to you alll, Kenny.
