  1. Hear so much of this these days Hope your sis will get it all sorted and somehow get the money back... Know several people who've had their credit cards used for all sorts of things they would never dream of purchasing themselves! The really shit bit is that the banks and credit card companies weren't particularly bothered... they refunded the money, but didn't give a stuff about actually catching the fraudsters. They just seem to accept that it's going to happen. If you ever find out who it was you can borrow my size sevens to kick 'em with
  2. Spiders? EEEEEEEEEEEEK! I hate the little sods
  3. Hounddog's suggestion is a good one, but could possibly get you into further trouble... It sounds like they are taking the p*ss and make a habit of this sort of thing. Personally, I'd take them to court as I think you have a fair case and the price you charged for the work doesn't seem unreasonable. Sounds as if you didn't give them a quote for the extra work, and in any case, an estimate is only an estimate. In the past we have taken a few cases through the small claims court, which was a fairly simple procedure, and we did get the money eventually. Good luck, hope you get your mon
  4. I wander around the countryside at all hours of the day & night, usually with the dogs, but sometimes without, and I've never once felt threatened in any way. But then I'm pushing fifty, ugly as sin, and I probably make the trees nervous... I wouldn't let other people's paranoia spoil your enjoyment of the forest, surely your dogs would look after you?
  5. Nice walk Handsome dog too, lovely coat on him!
  6. I've not had a problem buying creosote, and I usually mix a little oil with it. But eughhhhhh... that smell
  7. Awwww They make a lovely couple. But where are you going to sleep?
  8. go on then, tell us, tell us, tell us!!!!!!
  9. Awww that's sweet Happy Birthday Mrs Stubby!
  10. I like Cadburys chocolate but don't eat much of it these days, so I may possibly be slightly gay... Marmite & marzipan - yuck
  11. I hope you stood on it and squashed it. That's what I do with slimey gits...
  12. Lovely shots of some gorgeous dogs Why you not happy??????? They are brilliant pics! Doesn't seem to be too much noise in spite of the high ISO. Have you tried selectively sharpening just the dogs? Can help if there's noise in the blurred background... I often sharpen the whole image, then just history brush the bg back to leave it unsharpened. Sometimes with furry things I'm even more selective with the sharpening, restricting it to just the eyes, nose & teeth maybe. Sometimes fur can look spikey, when it should be soft... Just a personal thing I guess!
  13. Then that's big enough to print fairly large. Send Alan the original and I'm sure he'll sort it for you
  14. Kay - the size you can print at is determined by the no. of pixels and the resolution of the image. For best quality A4 prints your image will need to be about 3500 pixels longest size, with an uncompressed file size around 24MB at a resolution of 300 pixels per inch. Your pic is around 1000 pixels wide, so it is simply too small. However, if the original image from the camera is larger, why not work on that one? If the image quality is good pics can be enlarged using photoshop, but they need to be good to start with.
  15. How on earth did you find time to take photos??? NIce pics, I like the B&W ones
  16. Um... read the camera manual? Switch the camera to TV mode, rotate one of the little wheelie things or press a button and if you find the right one you should see the speed change in the viewfinder info.
  17. Excellent shots and you've done a great job of cloning out the grass in front of the hare. I prefer the softer look too - so many imges are over-sharpened and it just doesn't look right on soft fur or feathers... but that's just my point of view
  18. I like the fox And the dog and rabbits pic I thought I had a few bunnies here till I saw that lot!!!
  19. Well, you got the bit with the bunny in focus anyway, and that's all that matters really. You need to get your hairy butt out of bed early and catch them when they're out warming their backs in the morning sun, bit more light then Does your tripod have a hook in the centre that you can hang a weight on? That should steady it a bit. Take a bag and put a few big stones in it to weight the tripod down, but make sure it's strong enough to take the weight... The remote switch should work... or have you broken it? You should be able to get away with ISO up to 400 with your camera, provi
  20. The flash needs a little time to recycle, longer when the batteries are running down. I have a Canon flashgun, which has a reasonable recyc time with good batteries, but a lot of the time it won't fire as fast as my shutter... Mr Darcy's massive Metz will have a bit more oomph Yes, using a shorter lens is better because with the longer lenses the flash simply won't reach, plus they will let a little more light in, only drawback is you need to be that much closer.
  21. Nope, you don't want to be eating them... They do make a very nice photo though
  22. Very difficult shots to pull off successfully... A 2.8 lens would be good, and an external flash unit would also help. In the last pic the flash has done a good job of freezing the action, but it won't have the range for distant shots, plus if you are using the long lens you may find it casts a shadow. Crank the ISO up as high as it'll go without losing too much quality (high iso = high noise) set cam on TV mode, continuous focus mode, set highest speed you can get away with and pan the shots, tracking the subject. This should give the auto-focus time to lock on if there is enough light.
