snareman replied to ian118118's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
i was stupid enough to place an order with moleman 10 magnum traps and 10 duffus mole traps 2 of the magnums were broken on delivery and the ones that did work were so weak i could set them off with my hand and it didnt even hurt the mole traps were just complete shite i havent used any of these traps 60 quid well wasted but a good lesson learned(you get what you pay for with spring traps) i did contact them but they were not interested and did not even replace the broken ones contact the defra office in bristol and send them a couple samples . -

These a mighty big foxes Woodga. Belters. these foxes , were all snared with big loops, set high, theres one thing for certain you won,t catch these big fellows in the new best practise heights of snares thats been put forward recently, the only real thing is, thats all your going to get, is practice, and nothing else . they were all old livestock killers

rabbits beware.

that guy didn,t know how to catch squirrels in numbers until he met woodga and ratcherman ,away last year and then tried to copy woodga,s trap door locking method , he knew nothing about squirrel snaring either , until he saw woodga,s snare poles.and he says he,s the real deal.

nice and clear , but you have shown how a left handed person tensions a loop clockwise, where a right handed person tensions anti clockwise.

Made my first snares today
snareman replied to whippeter69's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
make your snares 6 strand , you should have turned a flower pot upside down and put your roll of wire over it , to stop it from springing out and tangling up. -
there,s not been one book in the last hundred years right up until today, that tells you how to snare rabbits properly, they all copied off each other and got it wrong , and nearly all fieldsports scribes they all copied the same sh#t out of these books and wrote nothing but pure crap also.look at the top of the page and you will see how to snare properly. there is a lot of good snarers on the hunting life. on this site you get told the truth, there is no editor to shield you from the truth on this site , like the scribes who get protected from the readers wrath in these fieldsports magazines.

I am a little bewildered why you would take the picture down ?? Yes, I can see the rabbit, but you're not doing anything illegal !!! as long you have your permission to be there, thats it ... sorry mate ,my mistake,i was going to put up a picture of TRAPPED rabbits, being new to this camera lark, i removed the cubbys for a better shot, however once i had done that the catch appeared illegal. ALI MATE ,SO WAS I . as long as you know its legal mickey , thats all that matters mate.

if he didn,t i will be giving him ten of the belt, as my instructions are fool proof, when snaring them in this type of location, its absolutely simple and deadly, as i always say the simplest of sets take the most wary of predators. there is one thing i can honestly say is that they would never be caught with the new best practice,s advice.

best website to buy traps and snares from

once again, this is where the government fails us, they allow fly by night cowboys, to import traps of inferior quality metal , which are seriously lacking in kill power. unable to dispatch target animals quickly, which is inhumane, then we have the so called experts who put up these best practises , on snaring . which are a total insult to a pro. snarers intelligence. why the hell don,t they get real trappers and snarers to advise them, instead of all these armchair experts that they always seem to consult who have never done a real days snaring in their lives. GOD help us. its time they too -
i bought 100 kg a few years back off chaplins ,25 kg each for snareman , woodga , peggy and meself, if memory serves it cost about £140 each for , that works out at £5.60 per kg , prices have rocketed since then , but still it was a good saving , if theres plenty of interest , someone should do a deal and sell any surplus i,m sure it was 125 quid moley.

thats in theory ian. but the mild steel stops have really no effect on galvanized wire . and the snares are spray painted , also . a friend of mine will be phoning you from norfolk , shortly.for supplies.

when that big loop sits at the proper height over the runs there is no escape for them. the wire sits there in full command of the situation . i thought that i had set that wire in you picture myself it just looked so good , and brought back a few memories .

well millie heres more news for you i,m the originator of the quick set long net system , absolutely nobody ever used one until i showed it on video , then phil lloyed showed them and the stop nets with two and three poles on his coney catcher videos , i devised this system 38 years ago when i was 24 years old , and killed 27 rabbits with my first run with it and all these guys did was add a basket , i taught keepers and poachers how to use my system for years , as there was no back pegging , it was run from ATO B in under two minutes , when master hunter first used it , with a couple of his

read the pinned section at the top of the page, and it tells you what causes the small loop, and once again, set your snare loop directly over the middle of the beat, at the proper height . absolutely never in between the beats , it also shows how to tension a rabbit snare properly, so if you read it carefully and follow the instructions ,and practice with a small amateur sized loop first until you get the feel of it.

Sorry JBS but i think that would be pointless, dont think any results with these snares will be taken seriously now no matter what they are, turns out if your mate makes them they must be the business!!! If anyone can put me in touch with a supplier of good quality break away snares it would be much appreciated. Foxy when using stops on fox snares i recommend that anyone using 6/ba nuts , buy normal mild steel nuts as they can be squeezed on to the cable wire , or tap them lightly as the inner threads take good grip , if the nuts are hard steel then you will get cracking occuring, if y

i don,t know who made them for you son, but there were over 800 rabbits caught in the testing of them, three hundred of these rabbits weighed in between 5 1/2 to six pounds in weight, using 100 snares , checked three times a day so 300 was a good catch before some started to escape , as the links were not being checked by the persons using them , and they were the 3/4 inch links , which i reduced to a half inch link , making them even stronger . therefore another hundred was snared and no escapes . cats can pull them open what they are designed for , also foxes can pull the links open as they
