  1. Little patterdale dog caught a pigeon in the middle of Newcastle once on a very busy Saturday afternoon.
  2. Well for me I've always hated jack russels no real reason, just hate them, dont know why. Always had patterdales or red lakelands just love there stance and work ethic.
  3. Once the cover dies back and the first frost hits, there will be plenty to ground then.
  4. where about is the permission? if it down in the esk valley there's plenty places for earths to be located.
  5. Dogo have AB in them as dogo is a relatively new breed, it also has Wolfhound, St Bernard, Pit-bull, Labrador, Boxer along with other breed's i can't remember off hand, but they are a very smart, brave and fearless hunting dog. The base line of Dogo is a cordoba which they reckon were totally mental and wouldnt tollerate other dogs, this was the reason behind adding other breeds into the cordoba to create a dog that could be used with other dogs. Dont know about AB being added into them, that must be a recent addition to a line within the Dogo, but I do know Dogo was used along with pitbull
  6. Dogo's really game dogs but illegal over here. I think some of the AB have dogo in them along with pit, the lines are Hines, not Johnsons.
  7. Just got in from work to find my copy waiting for me. Would just like to congratulate you on the quality of the book, if the litrature is of as high a standard then this book will take some putting down. Cant wait for Christmas now. Well worth the money.
  8. Looks like hes enjoying carrying those pheasants around. Credit to you.
  9. Dogs look well. A credit to you, good luck this season with them.
  10. Fantastic, I have tears running down my face from laughing so much.
  11. The dog that turns out to be a bag of shite would actually, 9/10 times, be worth keeping if it was just given chance to be a puppy and given time to mature properly. I agree with you. In most cases its the owners fault that the dog doesnt make the grade.
  12. Whatever you do dont start getting angry with her. Just put her away until she is ready.
  13. Well I must admit I have sat here gob smacked at some of the topics on here with pups being put on rabbits at 6-7 months and people saying well done. I think pups should be allowed to mature physically and mentally before being started on quarry. People are far too keen to get their pups going before there even trained to do basic commands, then they complain when there dogs wont retrieve or do as they are told. Next thing the dogs put in the classifieds and being sold as an outstanding dog, when in reality its a bag of shite!
  14. I have a feeling that "Breaking through" is going to be a book like no other. I hope this book takes terrier books to a new level.
  15. Hope I get a sneak preview of mine before my kids wrap it up for christmas. Hows the sale going Johnny?
  16. Wouldnt you have a greater chance of producing a type you want by breeding together your best 1st cross dogs together (GENERATION BREEDING) They would still be half and half bull cross, but a generation down the line. Chances are more pups in the litter would make the grade?
  17. I dont underdstand why people dont breed more 2nd, 3rd generation dogs. If I were to buy a lurcher tomorrow it would have to be at least a 2nd generation bred dog. I cannot understand why people make so much noise over first x this, or first cross that, first x to me means a high chance of getting a dog thats more like 1 of its parents. By the way I once owned a 10th generation calander coursing club suluki greyhound so there are people out there that breed generation dogs.
  18. Try the dog kennels et Longbenton, and the one thats in Newcastle this is where most dogs end up if they have run off.
  19. Cyrel and Carl Lambrecht are great fanciers (been to their loft in Berlaar) really fast pigeons.
  20. White muscle fibre is what gives the speed, same in humans, what determines how fast you are is down to how fast the white fibres twitch (fast twitch=fast pace, slow twitch=slow pace). What you train for is to develope the body (mainly internal, lungs, heart ect) to be able to maintain top speed for a longer period of time and a faster recovery rate (cardovascular). So a fit dog may not be as fast as an unfit dog, but the fit dog will out run and recover faster than the unfit dog. A dog same as most animals can only run as fast as its natural ability will allow.
  21. Book arrived today, thanks. Well pleased with how quick you sent it out. Would buy from you again.
