  1. Can't quite make sense of this post Daz old mate . I remeber when I was about in the roman times how we used to fly Passage and Haggard birds , I also remember a noted Haggard called Mrs Gibson.. Now look lad! you've come on here to piss people off and now you've been found out big time! for a lad in his earley twenties you really ask some silly questions over and over and over and over and over again....
  2. Just because we have now moved forward with the times it doesn't mean things are 1 = a better quality 2 = if you look at the quality of goods these days expecially English can you say we're better off these days? somehow I don't think so, engineering skills are nothing like they used to be, Big ideas don't neccesarly mean better quality. basically if its not broken why try and mend it? the only reason P/R birds have been classed so called out of date is course 99% of people can't make a decent one while I have a hole in my arse, you know thats true aswel as I do... Its the thing these days
  3. Daz. Go back and read a few more and you see Passage and Haggards was the order of the day with Goshawks . now wouldn't you love to fly a bird like this which is a pure gennius which has proved its worth in the wild? If there was ever a wild take Licence you'll never manage it just learning the techniques of Imprinting! you'll have to go back to Falconry school and learn Art and Practice! the pair go hand in hand... 4. Daz. you're now asking all the same questions over and over again and I'll be Honest not only from my point of view its getting a bit boring now mate? surley you must have asked the top gos lads on the IFF , so why ask on here time and time again? Its time now to change the record, turn over another page and make a decision on what you have already heard from by the sounds of it lots of people, your Breeder has told you to go P/R so go with it and get out and kill some stuff.... Jasper
  5. Sorry mate I'll have to disagree with you there! conditioning is the key to any bird, Its not just about taking a birds weight off! Yep its obviouse its needed at the start as it is with a Imprint but a Keen P/R bird in Hunting condition should fly not far off its top when in its peak condition, hence the saying "Feed them up and fly them hard"... the Finn x Hungarian female I have here came out of the aviary at 2lb 11, I stopped flying her a few weeks before xmas and she was no where near what I would consider half fit, she finished off flying a tad under 2lb 7, I'm pretty sure if I made the
  6. My lad Just found these on Youtube , whatever sort of steel is this made of? its sliceing bullets in half! plus the headcase having arrows fired at him while sliced them in half, what a lovely peice of kit this sword is .. 7. Its definitley a hard one without a decent picture but I'll stick with it not being a Falcon. I just saved it to my pictures and magnified it but even then it pixilates pretty bad. There's obviousley more tail behind that Rock? the other thing that does it for me is the short Primaries crossed just below its preen gland, then again some Falcons are like this , one more thing that doesn't say Falcon to me is its Beak? its certainly not Falcon like but yet again this could be the picture. Alot of leggy Hawks can be deceiving depending on their stance and posture. a bird leaning back on i
  8. Its a awkward one these days in this country due to the amount of non Indigenouse birds flying around lost by Falconers. this bird could even be a Coopers Hawk lost some time in the past or one of the Goshawk subspecies, its a hard one without a better shot. Being a Falconer I probably shouldn't be saying this but its a travesty when these non Indeginouse and Hybrid birds get loose in this country and polute the wild stock! a vast Percentage of the female Hybrids are seriousley outcrossed and effectivly Mules but the Male's are Fertile although may have a low sperm count, either way someth
  9. Looks like a Hawk to me ! its lacking the Dark cap of a Peregrine and the Dark Moustach stripes! the other thing that looks out of place for it to be a Pere is its wings!! a Mature Pere's wings will pretty much cross to the tip of the tail where as a first year Peregrine has a slightly longer tail until it Moults into mature Plumage. Looking at the picture it looks like a classic shortwing Accipiter! meaning Hawk, the tail is behind the rock so it can't be seen but if you look carefully you can see where the end of its Primaries finish on shortwings, I'm probably wrong as usual.... 10. Top stuff mate! no messing ! I have a large Heffer living here that needs sorting when you get 5 mins .... ATB Jasper
  11. Say no more SD ! He came down and entertained us with a different Imprint a couple years back while his mate picked up a Finn male ... They all need flying time mate to be good P/R or Imprint, good results come with fitness and fitness comes with being flown hard at quarry. when you get your Gos Daz and fly it nearly everyday at quarry you also will have a great Hawk, They're all great when fit and in fine Hunting condition, Rocket science it Isn't just time commitment and a bit of common sense.... Personaly I'm not into being held to ransom by a bird anymore! but a young lad like you in
  12. Cracking post Sherman . a mate who is having a Gos this year asked the same question to me and I told him Imprint! mainly because he won't have the time to put the Mann hours into the manning side of a P/R bird, on the other hand I know a couple of guys on the Forum who will nail one cause they have the commitment and time. a few people think I have a big gripe about Imprints but its not the case! My gripe is when people go on Forums with some pretty daft accusations that they better Hunting and Harder to manage , I've done a few P/R Goshawks over the years and have a good few pals who fly Imp
  13. AMEN!! exactly mate !! do you think Arnie if your Harris was Imprinted it would have made it a better efficient hunter? somehow I don't think so like others are trying to portray in previouse posts....
  14. No mate not the Darkside! suffering fools is not something alot of us have ever been able to come to terms with. if the flights are gennine and you're having some good sport then its good and we all want to know about them! lets face it we all have the same interested at heart. But have you Daz!! you need to realise that P/R and Imprints are all the same bird but reared by different methods!! both birds when in condition have the same capabilities, the difference is with a Imprint the Manning is done in the Rearing from a downy and with the P/R birds the Manning is done when the bird is P
  15. If you caught a Moorhen with a Harris then it must have been a Imprint!! surley P/R one's can't acheive such a feat ....
  16. Top gennuine bloke who I look forward to meeting one day, one of the good guys.....

  19. Cheers for the replies . I must admit to being worried about her age for breeding.. last year was the only year she never bred! every other year before that I was averageing sometimes upto 8 kits from her with my old Hob. she's a nice small albino Jill and boy do I wish I had kept some back when they bred before ..... ATB Jasper
  20. I have a Jill here which is now about 7 years old, she's been one of my best workers aswel as the Hob around the same age which recently died. late last year I picked up through friends 3 more Ferrets and made a pair which was Unrelated, The other spare Ferret is a Hob and has always been on the nasty side but did come off some good working parents, because of this I wanted to pair him with my 7 year old Jill which I tried today.... All seemed ok while they was sniffing each other arses! but the next thing I know the Hob nailed her in a throat hold leaving her sqeeling! thankfully I got hi
  21. Top man Kye . sounds like you earned that win! what a result.....
  22. Thats a cracking Link Fishfish . some of them pictures bring back memories how I remember him on the Telly! there was a quote on there saying "How ITV could do with someone like him again" How true is that? the guy was quality viewing..... Jasper
  23. No idea mate! the amount of Numpties that buy them with the intention of flying them but never do is Unreal. you're the only person I know out of both clutches who did one justice!! you've been the man on a mission mate ..... I had a small female called "Martha" about 3 years back flying at 7 1/2oz's, she was Hacked back and realeased. she wasn't big but Real gamey taking magpies and a Collard dove flown off the wire at the end of my road, I had another in the past called "Alex" in the past that was bigish as far as spars go, she flew near on the 8 3/4oz mark when in condition... ATB
  24. Top Bombing David !! that guns now well and truely Blooded.... Jasper
