  1. I would be gutted aswell mate. keep checking preloved and free ads. I would of contact the paper you never know they might turn up. Glad someone has got you some more. Very nice offer. I cant belive they took a bowl!! LOL I would be careful with those alarmed padlocks as I hear the wind can set them off. Its ok putting locks on hutch's but its no good if the door the lock is attached to is weaker than the lock. Some of mine that arnt in the shed have locks on their hutch but its a case of slowing the theif down or making them be heard. If you get an alarm for your shed get a wireles
  2. make sure ya gardens secure mate cos they will be back if they know you are gonna replace em! I would keep them in a shed or garage with an alarm system and a good lock.
  3. thats great that they can treat it!
  4. Thats shocking mate! after all effort you've put into their hutch etc. I would contact the local paper, someone will know whos got em. Thats why I mentioned the locks earlier in the thread but they wont stop someone determined Ring the cops aswell, and ring round all the vets and ferret rescues to make sure they havnt let them go and someone has handed them in.
  5. I dont know much about adrenal at all but I know going bald is one of the main factors. Even if it is they now have the implant for it in the uk that they inject into the back of the ferrets neck.
  6. They do have some strange maults but if shes tottally bald in some places I would be abit worried. Take her to vet mate.
  7. Kits will get their biggest their first winter. They wiill soon loose it. All mine now are putting on some extra weight and got some nice winter coats growing. Ferrets should do that. Ive heard of people starving them or taking away food cos they "dont want em to get that big" not good.
  8. Great they will be much better off on meat and propper ferret biccies.
  9. Ive got a simlar one. from pets at home cost me 100 quid a few years back. Only thing is you need to lather it in fence paint every year. Ive varnished mine as the wood seems to peal. I also have it covered in tarp at the back. Its not big enough on its own, ferrets need space. Ive just built a run for mine. If your wanting an hutch a 5ft hutch or bigger would be best. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5ft-Double-Two-Tier-T-G-Fully-Assembled-Rabbit-Hutch-/200818289389?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item2ec1b3eaed Dont know what theyre like though, probs cheap wood
  10. If your ferret is healthy and your vet is experienced with ferrets you should be fine. There is always a risk of them not coming round from anesthetic thats why you have to sign a form before taking them in. Sounds like hes trying to put you off spaying them or he isnt confident in doing it. Or he might be just being honest. Ive had a few jills done and theyve been fine. I tend to worry about jills more than hobs as they are smaller lol. Theyre not under long at all, its only a small operation.
  11. Its so much easier when theyre all castrated and spayed. They all live together without pacing at wire etc.
  12. The thing is, is she in pain? You need to rule that out first. If shes turned like that out of the blue then she might be. Is she getting out of her hutch enough everyday before you handle her to release all her energy. How much dry food are you feeding them both?
  13. I do think meat especially with kits fills them up so they are less inclined to bite. But this thread ive never heard owt like it ever before and iv heard some bullshit about ferrets. Amazing what some people view as right and wrong? Would you piss on your dog, bet the answer is no.
  14. Zoflora disinfectant. Put it in a spray bottle.
  15. If you think hes not big enough to stick up for himself I would wait till he gets abit bigger. I once tried two of mine when they were 10 weeks old in with the adults, the adults didnt like them and the kits screeched they were that scared. They will drag them about, but if the kits are screeching and if theres poo/blood take them out streight away. Its always good to swap bedding over (if you use blankets). That way they get to smell each other for a couple of weeks before being introduced properly.
  16. Yeah put few toys in with them, carpet tubes, carrier bags. They'll be some toys they never get bored of and some they wont bother with. Funny buggers they are lol. Look forward to seeing pics.
  17. ferrets dont chew like rabbits, might have a good scratch, if theres a way out they'l find it. You could always line the shed with thin ply. Another tip is to put lino down in hutch's, sheds. The pee doesnt soak into the wood then and its piss easy to clean.
  18. No chicken wire, they will be out. You want weld mesh. Concrete floor, paving slabs fine. Will wear their nails down running about. The bigger the space the better. Make sure the space you put their enclosure doesnt get red hot in the summer (heat is a killer for ferrets) Sometimes its just cheaper to buy a cheap shed, fit a mesh door, put a hutch innit and done
  19. As ive said in your last thread. You can get malt paste from pets at home, its 3 quid. Thats for hairballs and they love it as a treat! Ive never realy heard or experienced a ferret with a hairball, it can happen but quite rare. You said in your last thread your keeping her on sawdust? if sawdust, get rid! shavings are ok, do you mean them? Just use blankets for her bedding.
  20. If your using sawdust get rid. Shavings are fine but no sawdust. I would get rid of hay etc and just use clothes and blankets. Wouldnt worry yaself mate on the internet. You can get ferret paste from pets at home, the love it. its about 3 quid.
  21. Frontline spray from vets, put on rubber gloves and rubbed into the fur. Only a few sprays. Ive got a link for it online too if you want PM me.
