I haven't read this thread as I don't need to ... I for one won't miss maggie as a son of a miner growing up during the strikes we had it bad and not just for the 2 years but from before the strike and for many years afterwards ... We never recovered from what she did and we watched the rich getting richer ..........

I took the dogs out first thing this morning as usual to empty out and burn off a bit of energy before heading out on some rabbit jobs ... I had only just got into the wood next to my house and a lad I know asked if the dogs could track a roe he had shot ..... After a difficult 30 seconds track through the woods the old bitch had found it and held it ... Without a seconds hesitation the pup was in getting hold next to the old bitch no circling no barking no growling just confident and straight in ... I have seen adult dogs that won't/can't do that ... Not bad for a six month old dog .........

The pancreas needs to have a rest mate they will put the dog on a drip to keep it hydrated and then it needs to go on a low fat diet ... I had a German shepherd with this about 15 years ago ... The dog was fine after a few months but he wasn't a working dog so to speak he was a pet come house guard ... I don't know how it would effect a running dog ...........

This is one of the tests being done with the blood from today It sounds very much like pancreatitis which if it is can be treated fairly simply .........
