How much does your UNLOADED rifle weigh?
cyclonebri1 replied to a topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That sounds just to light, with no disrespect mate but at 5.72lb for the lightest version of the quad I suppose it could be? Impressive to say the least. -

WOW, I thought it was £65 a year not £365, glad I went with SACS My mistake. now edited Of course, but you have to have a laaaaarf

Wow ! Have i upset you ? The post started off as someone who had a negligent Discharge ! What did you expect from Edgar bro's ? Help did you want ? The gun was replaced. Explanation ? They were not there and it passed proof so how can they offer an explanation ? Compensation ? How much were you looking for, no injuries of damage to property. They said if you don't like it have your money back !!! Looks from here that edgar bros have been fair. And not worthy of your wrath if you are so upset don't use them again. To be honest if I had made

What planet have you turned up from...I went out of my way to be conciliatory with the Escort and with Edgar Bros and simply got s*****d on. Edgar Bros have offered NO help, NO explanation and NO compensation...their total contribution is..."if you don't like it take it back"! The Choke was tight as attested by the Dealer (a shotgun CHAMPION) and Edgar Bros, and anybody could also see that from the part of the choke left welded to the barrel. I accepted when I bought this gun it was not quality made, finished, or likely to have a very long lifespan, but I had every right to expect

You may well get a mixed response here based on the chemistry and physics and opinion!!! The vast majority of powders on the HMR will be burnt by 14 inches but that isn't the whole story, you probably won't have any problem with a 14inch HMR and may well love it, but I would not be happy below 16inches! My .22WMR is 14.5 inches, but that's the way it was, it's OK for sure, but I would still be happier if it was a little longer!! My HMR is 20"...little bullet, no weight...nice long barrel to stabilise it and point it in the right direction!!..Works for me!! And me, so much easie

Nevilles are my local gun shop, sound. Not decrying any other .17 but take a look at the Savage MK11, can't remember the exact model, but google for test reviews, they are brilliant. Bought my laminated thumbhole stocked all stainless from Nevilles, paid exactly £450, they were asking £490. Only test shot/run in/zeroed so far but boy the gun feels superb. Have tried Savage guns before and did not like them, this ones different. Also the Ruger 77/17 will no doubt be a cracker, if a little expensive if the 77/22 I own is anything to go by

Just done mine again after a break from shooting. Was always with BASC but no more was about £21 12 years back, now £65 Just joined SACS, £30, but £22 the first year if you are a member on here. Do a seasrch, this has recently been well covered.

But what did actually happen? Sorry Deker, just a nosy sod, but this has arroused real interest mate? You have to understand to start with, as I have said earlier, that I have tried to keep a low profile all round on this and not been pestering the owner for information.....what happened is a very large and expensive cow met a premature end at the hands of somebody I did not even know shot on the land. The owners is more than safisfied it has nothing to do with me! He says he knows who did it but has not recieved a penny so far (and I get the impression he does not expect to).

It's usually a 1st or a one off, but you never really know untill later?

A 3g Garden Gun  I hope you mean 9mm No.3 Garden Gun or I'm not surprised your Head and Neck hurt with the recoil. The .410, depending on the weight, will fire a 3" shell with very little recoil. In a well balanced .410, I would estimate that it would be about 40% of the 12. SS Thanks, a mere slip of the keyboard I did indeed mean a No3 pea shooter
-
So like when I came back to shooting this year I only took out an FAC, didnt bother with the SC as my previous exp with the 12g indicated I could not shoot it, ie recoils to the shoulder and neck. How much less kick does the 410 have? %? 50%/ 30%? what do you reckon? Edited to add; have only ever shot 12g and 3g garden gun before?

I have a couple more, well three if you count someonelses shot. I will qualify to say we were right little buggers in the poaching/countryside arena. I would not post these if I did not think they were "spent" Actually I've now thought of 4 that will stay with me forever, are sumwhat humerous, but belong to times past. The M1 motorway was driven through our "beat" in the mid 60's. At the same time we got hold of a real nice crossbow. Set some cans up on the boundary fence to the motorway. No problem untill one shot glanced a rail and ricochet off high and long and embedded the bolt in

Then go direct to ebay.com ie the usa. You will find what you need and get someone to mail over here. Can't remember what I paid for mine, was under $30 and the poastage was $5.40. Previous poster is right you need 77/22 mounts

I think the sensible thing would be to buy a plot surrounded by crop farms/small holdings etc. When you see what you like approach the surrounding farmers 1st. Seek permission to shoot on thier land in return for farming yours?? Most folks support good neighbours and I'm sure you really don't want the hassle of ploughing, seeding, combing and even hedgecutting etc? It might seem difficult to do this but it's not imposssible

Carrying my 16st gut around, (well at least I'm 6'4"), I don't think it matters -
I also have three, 300yrds with the .22 is one hell of a shot, not saying it can't be done. My best measured one was a bunny in the scottish hills, 175 yds with subsonic stuff. Held at least 2 feet over but clean shot through the heart, never flinched. The only 12 bore double mixed I remember was a woody at 30 yds as it came over the trees out of the woods. As I shot a rabbit I hadn't seen bolted from 20 yds into the wood. Niether made it. But the most memourable shot, because it was taken in a gale and because it showed just how effective a calibre .22 rimfire is for small vermin,

The importers name escapes me, but I'm sure they are up in Yorkshire. (Could be Viking but not sure) However I suggest you/he does as I did and get on ebay.com. You should be able to get what you need for less than the price the importer would charge. Did this a few weeks ago and got the correct high target grey mounts that I needed
-
I'm a newcomer to this calibre, but from firing about 25 shots each I would say go with 17g every time, the hornady stuff if the best, IMHO of course
