The float lines are better for surface nets if the nets fishing where it shouldn't be .. the newer type of float line is flex line , these lines are very popular for bottom and mid water nets as they have an even distribution and the lines flake down real nice so the gear shoots nice from the bin .. http://www.engel-netze.de/smart5/eng/flotation-weighting-floats-buoys-fenders-float-lead-lines-etc/410-floatlines-cork-lines/floatline-flex-type/flex-line-with-flotation-core-no-2-buoyancy-09.htm

Recommendations For Quick Set Long Nets?
netrigger replied to Longers7's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Nels0ns the man when regarding quick set nets .. Top quality netting made from 100% TORAY NYLON , same as the running lines. and his baskets are great also , nice and light .. and idiot proof which suites me just fine .. Regards.. -
The net may also be poorly rigged ! thus why it was spun up like a rope . This can happen when a poorly rigged net is fished in rough conditions . Have a look at the hangers on the lead line , if they are rigged with a tight drop this will cause the lead line to climb up the net .. Regards.

I've never ever came across any long net that the meshes were stitched onto the end pins .. was the old boy maybe meaning that the lines on the nets he used had the running lines stitched onto the pins?? Regards.

I don't get on with the triangle though I reckon a piece of braid and a simple clove hitch would work just fine .. Regards..

Just shout out if you want to try out a Trammel Net .. these are the new light weight trammels that will add a few years to ones age ... the dyes optional Regards ..

This place has true hemp in 3ply ,, which makes a real nice net .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hemp-twine-for-net-making-3ply-top-quality-half-kg-/351063003541?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item51bcfc5195 I would also be aware of the mesh size that you are knitting as hemp has no stretch .. there was a clip with Mr.Merrin & Simon Whitehead showing a bad killing hemp (flax) net on hear , maybe one of the Lads can find it and put it up for a look? .. the net was made purely for the video and the net was made with 5ply with a 4 1/4" full mesh .. Good on

Stop Your 30ft ,, You will end up with a parcel of shite !! ,, Trust me .. There's an old saying " the finer the mesh , the better killing net" Regards ..
-
That's a bit heavy for a long /stop net ! ,, I personally wouldn't make a hemp (flax which you have ) any thicker than 3 ply . Get yourself some spun nylon/poly twine, .. Regards ..

Number 6 Joe .. Thanks Bill, what type of knot do you use for that double. Thanks. Just the single sheet bend Joe for the main body,, though for the selvedge I used the carrick so to add that slightly more weight to the top/bottom mesh.. Regards..
-
I only just clocked that now you mention it. The body looks like its hanging very natural. I might give it a go on the double stranded stoppie Ive just finished. Would I be right in thinking that it would only been of any use on the top line, as that where it hangs from and the bottom is touching the floor? Once the nets set up then that's correct Bob, though for running out and picking up especially fine nets then I would say the thicker full mesh selvedge makes a slight difference .. Regards

Must be a few years old now, ..

This is the latest net that I have knitted up. Its around the 25 yard mark in length and is made with two fine strands of spun polyester.. Its really light in weight and has a 4 1/2" full mesh . I made the selvedge meshes from a thicker polyester and in a full mesh, this helps the main body of the net fall between the lines nicely .. The running lines are 1.5mm braided polyester , I chose this size of line to keep the net as light weight as possible.. All that's left to do now is splice the lines together and it will be good to go. Regards..

I rigged up this net for a member on hear, its a bottom fishing gill net for Bass/Pollack e.t.c. its rigged in by half and approximately 55 yards in length with a depth of 8 foot.. 20" of mesh per 10" staple (hanger) the hanging twine is a nice 1mm braided multifilament which takes a good knot. the head ropes a 6mm braided polypropylene with a 70grm float approximately every 8 foot . the lead line is a heavy number 3 the netting is a nice multi-monofilament in a 4" mesh.. Looks like I will be kept busy as this lot has to be rigged up asap..

This should give You a rough idea on how its done. Regards.

Maybe then that's how a nutty / chocolate mix works just fine ?? .. I've had great results in the past with cage traps which were set in a remote area in the country side .. Then again it may be just beginners luck ? Regards.
