NEED HELP TEACHING MY DOG RECALL
lurcher lass replied to madeinscotlandman2's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
hi i have just read your post, think of it from the dogs point of veiw . . doggy is out for a walk - you stated first time at woods, doggy is surrounded by new smells and is amazed by this whole new world, wow this in new i've never seen this before . . my owner keeps shouting at me , , this smell is sooo much more interesting!! my owner is still shouting and now had come next to me and is shouting in my ear so i what i think is best and i ignore as shouting random words i do not understand means nothing to me , , do you see where i'm getting at? you need to make a point of being more -
good looking dogs there i'm like the saluki's i have a three year and 1/2 year old bitch Jazz the fawn, sire is out of lord of the night, sootysam lines and dam is deerhound x greyhound hint of collie, she works well with ferrets and is coming on well on the lamp also have a pup Zoe, sire is bigland boy 3/4 greyhound and 1/4 whippet dam is bedlington terrier x irish coursing greyhound, am giving her planty of time to learn how to be a dog and bond with me and some basic training before working her this is a pic of her brother that i'll be getting shortly

mine sleep indoors i reckon its safer but they are out most the day as i work outdoors and bring the dogs with me this happens all through winter and summer which means they still get used to having to be out in all weathers, i like mine indoors as you naturally interact with them more, whether its smiling at them while walking past or curling up on the sofa with on dog next to you and the other at your feet, it helps pecking order too as you can have no go area in the house i.e upstairs kitchen etc i do however have a dog run which is 10 foot by 18 foot where i put the dogs when they are ha

as horrific and as nasty as this story is, this situation happens all the time i wouldn't be put off tattooing your dog because of this tho, the tattoos are a good way to make a theif think twice, they can't see a microchip and a tag is very easily removed it takes only a certain type of **** to be able to be this cruel to any animal - i know we all hunt but we don't mess about with it before its dead like cutting ears off, we respect the animal we are hunting this people don't respect anything, the animal, moral views or the law its disgusting and they probably never will get caught and wi

thank you so much everyone!! i just looked out of curiousity and found that loads of you replied, none of which was grief so thanks again my daughter has really been enjoying it, she comes with me when i walk both dogs and when we're exercising the bitch (i run the bitch next to the bike to keep her fitness up) my daughter comes ferreting which she loves and has been lamping once or twice but its normally late and she gets too excited that she can't keep quiet lol she loves the ferrets too, when ever we're out we do what we call skip hunting lol  which is whenever we find -
i've just read this post!! i can't believe how far people have taken this!! i haven't been on hunting life long so i'm not backing up a side or standing up for a buddy before anyone thinks this is the case, i'm neutral in this completly from what i understand a man set up a new topic asking for photo's for his website, this website is discribed as advertising working pups for sale, stud dogs, ferreting equipment and a second hand section for lamping quipment etc, he has stated that he will do his best to stop puppy dealing - which anyone with an ounce of common sense shall understand t

i used to have a poodle, who has such a charactor i'll never forget, sadly i had to re home to a friend of mine, as he got older he struggled to keep up on walking for 4 hours or more every day yet he hated being left on his own, so i re homed him to a disabled lady - very nice lady, where he was never left alone and had a dog walker come into walk him, plus he still gets a taste for hunting when out and one of the other dogs catches something! he will have a good tug lol never too old lol poodles were used as gundogs in france and germany mainly to retrive waterfowl, they decended from a

whippet x greys are normally smaller to the shoulder then a greyhound with a long back, this is nice as it gives the bonus of longer stride length, helps on various quarrey, both my lurchers have whippet and greyhound in and are very loyal - i went to go and get the bus, the older bitch broke out of a dog crate, got out the window, climbed along the guttering and onto the conservatry slid down the roof and followed me with a waggy tail they are very sweet tempered bit fizzy in the morning before their first gallop, my bitch knows what i'm doing bfore i do which is handy as she then reads me
