Whatever is caught that's edible gets eaten either by myself, dogs or ferrets, never tried fox though :sick: I don't see the point in catching owt if nothings going to be done with it, if i have no freezer space i'll give meat away to friends -
Good set of pics there, looks like a good outing and loftis dog is very photogenic, cracker she is!

It was a sin to run them in the summer, it was totally wrong to lamp them and then it was bad to run them in the snow!!! FFS get a grip people, it's the WINTER at least dogs are still getting out, it's not easy for the dogs to run full pelt in the snow either is it.

Nobody can ever say that they're dogs will never run off no matter how well trained they are. Also you do not put the dogs name on the tag you put your own surname on it.

IMO the ground is far too hard to be running the dogs on and far too still and crispy to get close to anything worth running.

It IS against the law for a dog to not be wearing a name tag and a collar with your surname, adress/postcode and telephone number on, if it gets lost and is found a stray by the dog warden etc this is when the fine will come into place. A tag costs a mere £5 which is alot better than £5k!!!

I wouldn't work away simples!! If i had to the dogs would have to come with me, i'd have to get a bigger vehicle but i wouldn't care, failing that i'd put them into boarding kennels when i had to work away, there's ways around it, dogs just aren't replaceable!!

Can you not kennel your pup outside while you are not home? While you are staying away somewhere could your wife not feed it and take it for a quick walk of a morning and evening? I work from 8-5, sometimes 7-5 friday to friday most of the time and only have alternate weekends off yet i have 4 dogs, currently they live outside bar the old one who sleeps all day and still get walked morning and evening and worked 2-3 nights a week, i don't have any children but even if i did have i wouldn't get rid of my dogs because of them or work, they make my lives whole!! Sorry to hear that fella, he looked a fine dog, every time we take our dogs out to work especially at night it could be they're last but it's what they enjoy and he died in happiness

My dogs are generally fed between 6 and 7pm but if they are going out that night they'll not get fed til we're home, always done this and never had a problem with them tiring, i can workout better on an empty stomach rather than when i have eaten earlier so i feel the dogs are the same.

Sorry to hear that, he sounded like a great dog, R.I.P Charlie, i lost a 10 month old pup shortly after this time last year, fecking horrible feeling but at least you got a pup to focus on, good luck in the future. -

If i could sell what my dogs caught then yes i would say they do earn their keep but for me i have the dogs i have now purely for my own pleasure, i love nothing more than going out with them and watching an adrenaline rushing course and hopefully a catch, i don't have my dogs to work for me as such but to enjoy each others company in the field and give me some good sport, although if they didn't catch now and again i would certainly be annoyed!!
