Great glad you got sorted - exploring time now!

Dose the rws suffer from the loud click when cocking the rifle Tom its annoying when you have taken out one rabbit then you go to load another into the breech and the rabbit feck off because of the click lol atvbmac  suppose it does click really but not too loud tho, never fond it a problem to be honest.
-
No not really, the indexing lever just pushes it round nicely.

They are top airguns and amazingly accurate. I use its close relation - the RWS excalibure and its a gun that i will never part with and nothing iv owned has ever come close. definitely reccomend the raider!

Looks like new!

nice one tomthere like a Chinese puzzle if you can't remember what you've done i take a photos on my phone after a right nightmare last year atb si The the springs flew out and had to go looking round the kitchen floor along with the other bits. Found all sorts of other stuff on the floor from other projects too it was a nightmare!

The ricochet that hit me in the eye was in a field while shooting paper targets and it hit god knows what it hit, it must have been something like a pebblee in the hedge bottom. Used to use rim fire and had occasional ping on ploughed fields that's why I chose fac air instead. Really paranoid about ricochet shots now every time I hear one it reminds me of my accident. Waiting a couple of weeks for the patch to come off to see if my eye was ok was a feeling you can't forget. Obviously you can't buy eyes and changed the way I look at my backstop forever.

Yes in my early teens had a pretty long distance ricochet pellet embed into my left eyeball. Made a full recovery but waiting to see if it healed was a horrible wait.

Trigger is easy to take off but if you strip the trigger unit its fiddly to put back together. Just found this..... http://www.pyramydair.com/schematics/rwsmodel48-52-54-t05trigger.asp Wish I had this when I stripped mine, it was hard to suss how it went back together after the springs and bits pinged out of it without a diagram. Should be easy with this to follow.

A lot of target scopes are 30mm just for that reason, so they can get that few extra clicks when shooting long range. thank you walshie that makes a lot of sense. think ill give one a go
-
More range of adjustment? Thanks Walshie!

Cheers guys I thought so. Don't think iv ever owned a 30mm tube scope so taught I'd see people's opinions. There was a guy in the shop raving about these richter optik scopes. I remember my old one shifting zero every time I got the gun out but that was over a decade ago.
-
Cheers Mark williams iv not done that but you can't beat fresh opinions from people who may be newer members. If we all did that every time it would be a very quiet place.

I'm looking to buy a cheapish new scope soon for a spare gun and after watching last weeks airgun shows richter optik review it's tempting to have a go with one of these as the spec is great for a £100 scope with mounts. It is a 30 mm scope tube, apart from the obvious scope size difference - is there any advantage of a 30mm tube over 25 mm? Cheers! Tom.

There's a review on these on last week's airgun show and they look good. Iv owned an old model and it was pants but looks like they might be decent now and seen them for £99.99 posted. Very tempted.

Its me doing the work and Si brown that has bought the rifle and is donating it to davyt63 and Si for the meet atvbmac  Fair play to you both!

And for charity too... Mac you have a heart of gold.

Looking forwards to see how this goes! Its great to see a proper classic restored to former glory. Got a soft spot for these my dad had one when I was growing up and had one myself too. Brings back some memories seeing that.the stock has nice grain and the 52 stock is a great looking shape! All the best with it mac!

Fishing most of the summer and a recent project ......

Ha. The 97 is just fine, having a break. LGU's gone back to the owner. Imps planning its next foray soon. Just cant get over how light it is... but delevery plenty of whack. Also not bad out of the box Rez, Weighs the same as the BSA Lightning XL and XL SE, 3kg / 6.6lb without scope. Now that the Lightning is made in the UK again, seriously looking at that and the HW99. Think the HW99 can be had in .177 - .20 - .22 and .25 I would choose a 99 over a lightening. The 99 is a much better gun all round.

superb! sure theres some witchcraft in there lol.
