I don't have a religion. I think it's all bollocks. Christianity was spread because of it's violence not because of it's truth. Same with Islam. If we didn't have to appease this nonsense this nonsense couldn't be used to make stupid rules.

The sooner we stop arguing who's got the better imaginary friend the better. Ban all religion now.

Anjem Choudary Calls Cover Depicting Mohamed An 'act Of War'
ChrisJones replied to Waz's topic in General Talk
We should have a similar approach to the French on this. Instead of teaching everyone that they should tiptoe around religious beliefs, they should be open to mockery and ridicule. Our inaction equates to ratifying an unwritten blasphemy law. Which is what they want. Politicians can be mercilessly lampooned for the folly of their behaviour, so why are these twats exempt? -
Very true BH I hope you haven't found my comments antagonistic, as it wasn't intentional. Having had chance to digest more of the proposals I find myself shifting further away from a legal tighten. While I do sincerely believe that national security is important the broader implications of the proposed laws are something that would appease the people but could be catastrophic for technological innovation and civil liberties. At the risk of plaigerizing, a compelling article on the potential headache, I'll just link to it here. In terms of public awareness or security serv

I can agree with that. My concern is that additional laws aren't necessary. The ones we have had since 2000 are poorly enforced and abused as it is. More money, more taxes, yada yada yada... You know where I'm coming from! Half Of Councils Use Anti Terror Laws To Spy on Bin Crimes

Fair comment but I personally don't feel that terrorised and that I have to just accept that someone is snooping around. Paying out more tax money, so they can do it, is a bit of a smack in the face, IMHO. Through the various aggro that's manifested, through the years, right up to the end of the Cold War we've always had that unity that we won't be terrorised and that we'll continue our daily routines as normal. What has happened in the last 15 years that's changed us to the point where we just hand our information over to someone that demands it?
-
Do they need additional powers to bolster what they already have though? The War Against Terror (T.W.A.T) has been used for all kind of shenanigans, with the existing laws. This just seems like a lash out because they can't keep up with the makers of the technology.

I'm still not convinced that wasn't just a publicity stunt to get people to watch a film. They've got access to anything they want anyway. Legitimizing it doesn't make a scrap of difference.

Mainstream media questioning the RSPCA's actions? Have we reached the tipping point?

Testable and observable evidence. That's the whole point, sir! Where are the original scriptures?! Myself, and many others would like to compare the originals to the copies.

I said clearly the bible will not contain anything which will prove that a divine creator does not exist. The last reliable translation, of a translation, of a translation, of a translation, of the bible, was the King James version, if I'm correct. Finished in 1611CE? That's 400 years of no further comment! No additional revelation, no more information. Science has filled the gaps and continued to evolve through that time. Has our Heavenly Father finished with us? Which pics? I haven't posted any.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my musings, Fraz. I see little more to add to the discussion at this point. A book claiming to the word of God is not going to contain words that disprove his existance! We're certainly not going to advance the discussion. I need more than just faith to get me through the eternal question. Where religion has stalled science has provided. semper necessitas probandi incumbit ei qui agit Thanks. It has helped me conclude my conquest.

I love the irony of these religions that claim abstinence is the only form of contraception, yet believe in a virgin birth!

I have actually read the bible. I found it an incredibly tedious read... What is it? 700,000 words, or something? I will use a search engine to refer to certain sections just as you have done in your post. Highlighted. There is no missed logic with being agnostic, and dismissing the bible as fiction. As an agnostic, as I've said, I'm very open to the idea of a divine creator. The problem is that I don't know. I don't have sufficient evidence for, or against, so I can't come to a reasonable conclusion. The dismissing of the bible, as the word of God, is purely down the way it's been wri

I should probably add, here, that I haven't posted this in attempt to draw out an non ending argument. I'm not saying you're wrong, as I'm an agnostic, I don't know whether there is a divine creator. I have posted because this is the conclusion I've reached through multiple sources of study for my own personal enjoyment. You're free to believe as you wish. As am I.

I'm a little confused here, Fraz, but I haven't read the first 200 pages of this thread. You're saying we came from soup to human? That's evolution. Evo's say were stupid back then? That isn't supported by the evidence. Evolution doesn't necessarily favour intelligence. It favours the most adaptable. It's continual random mutation that is either successful, or not. The successful mutation survives to be passed on. The unsuccessful isn't. I don't have the time or patience to type a post of how human intelligence as evolved to it's current level. I'm sure it wouldn't be read in it's

I read that link through. Maybe I missed something but could you explain how it debunks evolution? Could it be possible that the scarcity of these giants is due to this particular mutation not being evolutionary advantageous?

Evenin gents (and ladies if there are any) Been a while since I posted but I couldn't resist when I stopped by! Personally I'm an agnostic. I believe the existance of a deity is possible but I've yet to receive any information, evidence or faith based, to suggest otherwise. Science doesn't ask for my belief. Science demands critical thinking. Science demands skepticism. Science demands evidence based reasoning. As an agnostic I cannot say that you're wrong but as a man of thinking, evidence, and skepticism, I can cannot conclude that you're right, either. As for the organised r
