  1. It's true it's not always knackers. Very few of them dig so they usually sell them on. Lads never ever buy a dog (terrier or otherwise) of a knacker. A friend of mine paid two visits to two different knackers who dig last week. Both steal terriers but both were in jail for different reasons at the time of the thefts. But jail and stealing is their traditional rights so we P.A.Y.E. people shouldn't judge them. As for settled scum who steal terrier they often steal them to dig to. And because their stealing to have good ones they often take these terriers out in front of others. What is a w
  2. I heard the other day that some men went to Dublin port to look for stolen terriers. Although they didn't get their own there was 2 black working terriers in a crate on a greyhound transporter. I'm not saying they were stolen but that's one way they leave the country or enter it. We're just hearing of some of the stolen dogs. It seems a lot of boys in the West and down Limerick and Cork way seem to accept it as part of the game. I personally know boys who've had terriers stolen but will buy a stolen terrier, no questions asked. It's JMHO but there seems to be two main types of thieves and tw
  3. No doubt about it the terrier came away. I bet the hounds were happy with the result though. But IMO any man who works his terriers or lurchers etc. and is putting up videos on that f#####g youtube is a disgrace. The anti's love it and it's more fuel for the anti hunting fire. But then again,,, anyone who feels the need to show off has an ego to build. Don't feed the anti's boys.
  4. Just after hearing- 8 terriers stolen in Tipperary last night from 1 kennel.
  5. One of the best terriers I ever dug to was of Levi Oaks and Ray Walkers breeding. A hell of a terrier who's blood is in many of the black terriers here in Ireland.
  6. Any news would be a help lads. No news on the other stolen terriers yet.
  7. I found a place where I can get wheat in 40 kilo bags. A bit dearer but I took your advice. Thanks lads. Just out of interest, a keeper told me last year you'll hold ducks better with barley. Anyone agree?
  8. Two terriers stolen last night ( 21st) between Slane and Drogheda. Black male, white chest, was worked last week, fresh marks. 18 month old male, red fell. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Someone must know something. This man had all his terriers and spaniels stolen last year and was just getting his kennell back in order. So keep your ears and eyes open folks. I'm trying to get some pictures up. YIS.
  9. I wouldn't chance keeping them together either. Both can be aggressive with their own kind and chickens regularly kill corvids that come in for a free meal.
  10. Thats good advice Fell Terrier. At one year old your terrier is still a baby. Don't over do the praise as you might be un-knowingly encouraging your terrier to false mark or mark rabbits etc. My advice would be to use the older terrier while still on the couple to tell you wether someone is home or not and then try your youngster. Try and pick somewhere handy and the perfect result would be a bolt with your youngster close behind. So approach your earths quietly. Keep him keen and one step at a time. Early success will stay in your terriers mind and so will early mistakes.
  11. Thanks Waz. I think I'll take a chance with the barley. Some of the places we're releasing birds there'll be stubble or wheat still standing because of the weather. Neighbouring clubs shouldn't be a problem. If it was serious I'd get the wheat but I'll chance the barley. It makes life a little easier and after all I'll be getting no thanks for it, LOL.
  12. Every morning when feeding my chickens there's plenty of suicidal slugs drowned in their water cups and since finding out the hard way about lung worm (slug worm) I'm anti-slug. But another thing I see whilst feeding the fowl amazes me. The feed barrell is over two foot tall and has a lid with a lip on it that rain water collects in. After a nights rain how the hell does there be small earth worms lieing on the lid of the barrell? This has me wondering.
  13. Scumbag here! Lurcher and terrier breeders leave a lot to be desired in many cases too, have a skim through this site! Retained testicles, undershot mouths etc... not perfect by any standards!! Do dogs with retained testicles and undershot mouths suffer in pain Dawn? What your talking about is striving for perfect conformation. Isn't that what the K.C. say they do?
  14. Colonel David Hancock has been speaking the truth for years. It's a pity he didn't get more to say last night. He's often the only worthwhile reason to buy the CMW, LOL. Because we breed our terriers and working dogs for work deformities and inherited diseases don't even come in to the equation. It's very easy for us to laugh at these sad, sad K.C. people and their freaks on leads as a lot of these people are anti hunting. Even though they revel in their dogs history. But IMO to imagine the agony that Cavalier King Charles last night was going through would be hard to fathom. Imagine your
  15. I can get barley in 40kg bags but not wheat. Half ton or nothing. As I've to deliver feed to 5 different gun club members for their pheasants buying the barley would save me some time and work. Is there disadvantages to barley compared to wheat? Price doesn't matter.
  16. Recently I seen 12 buzzards together. Twice recently I've seen 4 buzzards together. IMO thats not natural. But I think the shooting magazines have way too much coverage of the raptor problem. Take Shooting Times for example. It's not unusual to see 3 or 4 articles mentioning that there should be a cull. IMO this is the sort of thing that adds fuel to the anti shooting fire. More so than keepers being accused of killing raptors.
  17. I don't believe thats the model he means.
  18. There's a big difference between call outs and sport.
  19. IMO working a terrier sore is foolish. If testing terriers is what your into then working them sore is not testing. Yes I'd dig to a terrier more than once or twice in a day but sore? No. To me the test of a terrier is a good standard of digging EVERYTIME the terrier is fit over a couple of seasons. Some terriers actually get better the more they're worked. Again, when they're fit to work. With a terrier that thrives on work there is a very fine line between the right amount and too much work. This is something few men are able to see IMO. It's one of the secrets of terrier work. Testing
  20. Great pictures. Love the head shot of the "veteran". Roll on Winter. It would be funny if the last picture was called "the kill".
  21. It's just as easy to take pictures of the terriers and dead game on their own. Blacking out faces makes us look like thugs and criminals. IMO handles and blacked out faces are used by a lot of lads so a name and face can't be put to the bull#### they put on the inter-net, JMHO. Close ups of freshly worked terriers and dogs working live quarry should never ever be put up on the boards. Blacked out faces make it to easy. I've had my name, address and phone number put up on an anti website. I don't break the law, I'm not ashamed to work my terriers and I speak the truth when on the boards. Hen
  22. A nice programme and well put together. Nice to see terrierwork get a positive mention too and the anti's got a 3 second mention. When a national T.V. station does a positive programme on hunting makes you think that this country of ours mightn't just be ###### just yet.
  23. Don't agree with canned hunts myself. But would like to know all the details before passing judgement. Big game hunting in some parts of the world does more for conservation than most other methods. As for a bad shot? I'd wait 'till you've been there ,done that and then soiled the t-shirt. As for hunting with big egos you don't have to go as far as Africa for that.
