No he started at Utd and came to West Ham not long before the final in 1980.......usually its the other way round they nick our players I might be wrong but i think he was at Utd when they was a second division side ...takes some believing dont it.
-
Absolutely right.... i remember the 75 final there were street parties before and after the game over the whole weekend infact, all you could see for miles was claret and blue round our way....kids vs dads matches between the lamp posts....fa cup final day was a special day for young boys even if your team wasnt in it youd still pretend you was the winning goalscorer

Boxing booths were not always associated with fairgrounds.....right up till the late 70,s there were travelling booths at places like Wanstead Flats and Deptford in London....they were all quite well organised at one point but around the mid 50,s the British Boxing Board of Control stated they would strip pro boxers of their licence if they took part in them......that pretty much brought about their decline. Before that many fighters like Jimmy Wilde,Benny Lynch, the Turpins,Freddie Mills had all done a bit in the booths. As kids we would be over Wanstead Flats queueing up like idiots till the

I know what you mean.....the glory hunter tickets you mean not the genuine week to week fans....but dont you think that will actually just make it worse....for arguments sake lets say Hamilton Accies get 2500 fans through the door at the moment....Celtic and Rangers are playing Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea every week dont you think that might cost Hamilton another 500 fans who want to watch " the big clubs in the big league " from up the road ( Celtic/Rangers )...sorry if my geography is way off but you get my point. I think the big worry if it was to happen is the sheer amount of people who go

I dont really understand all the ins and outs of it but its not hard to see theres something dodgy going on there so hopefully they can get to the bottom of it and get rid of the ol b*****d. From an English point of view this not voting lark all seems a bit after the horse has bolted to me.....if we knew they were corrupt we should have said something at the time not waited to see if we got the world cup then when we didnt, start moaning about it.
-
Good man....Im not sure it would make it more competetive.......I,ll nail my colours to the mast and say i would like to have Celtic and Rangers down here but not the others,i just dont see what the others could bring to the party.....Celtic/Rangers are big football clubs with big followings which theres no reason to suggest wont continue if they was down here.....the rest of the clubs get poor attendancies in their own country so their hardly going to get more down here.....When you see attendancies of 4/5/6/7000 at clubs directly behind the big two,at grounds where i dont imagine its anywher

Its a good theory Stan....but whats in it for English clubs, its still really all just to accomodate Scottish football into the premier league i think theres got to be some sort of incentive for English clubs as well.....what that is i dont know. In theory St Mirren or Hamilton etc could get into the English Premier league on merit, which is fine and fair.....but then whats fair about English clubs taking 300 supporters up to an away fixture in Scotland when they could have taken 3000 to an away fixture in England. Dont get me wrong im all for it.....but it would certainly be a tricky little v

How do i jump all over the place...Baw put some points to me and i answered them, simple Thats your opinion and thats fine....some folk prefer a plate of mushy peas to a plate of chicken and rice that dont mean to say mushy peas are a better quality food .....The reality is mate its all about levels, the English league is a higher level than the Scottish, thats just the way it is.....common sense would tell you that the mid table of the English would be a higher level than the mid table of the Scottish....lower the same......so for neutrals who just like to watch quality football, like mys

I couldnt really add anything to what Malt said Do kids these days pretend to be lifting the FA cup in the school playground,no they pretend its the champions league trophy......i accept times move on and the game grows.....just for us smaller clubs they were important times that will be swallowed up and forgotten about in todays times in terms of achievement.
-
You was right the first time Proper West Ham family the Allens....all of them went through the club from dad Les to Martin Allen,Bradley Allen,Clive Allen.....what an occasion for a 17 year old back when the FA Cup meant something.
-
Runforyourlife...good luck to ya son, hope your going back up the m1 with as much enthusiasm as your coming down with. ....cant see a Utd win myself but in a 1 off game anything can happen.
-
oh i forgot about you, hows that other thread going i,ll have a butchers in a minute.....its only tongue in cheek son dont get too charged up ...mind you i do find them big gingers with the freckles and hairy warts a bit intimidating...........the men can be a bit scarey as well No you got me there Baw,been some good Scottish managers thats for sure, just shows.....Scots do know the game just cant play it.
-
Not sure id call it a diving header, the ball kind of hit his head and he fell over ....1980 against Arsenal.....still the last time a team from outside the top flight of English football has ever won the fa cup Dont forget Alvin Martin,Ray Stewart,Geoff Pike,Stuart Pearson.....and of course 17 year old Paul Allen the youngest ever player to come on in a cup final, clean through on goal only to be wiped out by a big dozey ginger jock ! They were the days.
-
Nah bollocks to that i dont want a ginger jock........its gotta be an Englishman simple as that.
-
..Well i didnt do bad,id like to see you name 4 West Ham players from 79 without looking it up ....mind you we was in the second division then
-
This is completely from memory now....Bowyer,John Robertson,Mcgovern....Archie Gemmil possibly ? all in that 79 side who won the European cup
-
I have every respect for amateurs GTE....but i was referring to pros, whereby you might have 2 or 3 fights per year.....obviously theres a big difference between pro/amateur in every aspect of the sport.....nobody can train year round and then peak thats how staleness comes about......i think it would be hard to say somebody like Ricky Hatton was a physically fit man wouldnt you
-
Id be amazed if O Neil went to Forest mate....i think he,s holding out for a bigger job with all due respect.....i always liked Forest that 79 side with Francis,Birtles and all them was tops....looking forward to going back to the city ground next year its been a while
-
Dave Jones is the latest.....it was Kevin Keen a few days ago.....Ian Dowie yesterday and Chris Hughton before that.... As long as its not that tosspot Alardyce im happy with either of them.....would prefer Keen or Hughton though.

Thing is though bench press is predominantly a chest/tricep exercise and most women will struggle to do 1 correct press up as they are just not particularly strong in them areas so its near impossible for them to gain any fitness that way. What you say about boxers is a myth....i boxed for many years at a decent level,it took me to become a bodybuilder years later to really get an understanding of the body.A boxer peaks his body for 1 day ( his fight ) and cannot hold that condition all year round.Everything is geared for that 1 day and timing is everything, hitting that peak....thats not true
-
You would only lose it till you rehydrated.....jumper&binbag = sweat.....sweat = water.......the lass wants to lose bodyfat not dehydrate herself
-
If your a fighter mate you will know losing water is not losing weight, once rehydrated your the same weight.....as has been said.....just say no to binbags
