I dont doubt thats a lot to do with it................but i truly believe we just look like we WANT IT that bit more in a lot of these events.............naturally thats part of the advantage in having the home crowd of course but id like to think some of it also is basic competetive spirit and will to win...............and that comes from within

Name a better sporting nation of the same size ? Your post was so silly i cant even be bothered to debate it...................and i love sport ! I would think the Aussies would be considered a better all round sporting nation than us, and they have less than half our population jmo Hopefully we can one day become a better sporting nation than the Aussies Current medal table...... 3rd GB.....11 gold 19th Australia.......1 gold

f****n ridiculous that its like playing hide and seek silly b*****ds..............must admit theres some pretty daft events i dont like all these variations of cycling and rowing etc...............its all very well saying people like Hoy or Phelps are the greatest Olympians but i heard Michael Johnson say something interesting.....he said " if they had events for running sideways and backwards id probably have 20 gold medals as well "...............hard to disagree like.

Probably right......the only people i ever see on bikes are swarming round your car trying to get away from the traffic lights on their way into the city in suit and tie...........dont think the ol Boris bikes are quite up to velodrome standards either

What a fantastic few days of sport we,re having im really enjoying it......few disappointments.... a few surprises.......controversy,great achievements..................everything we love about top level sport..............some of it i aint got the foggiest idea whats going on but still find myself roaring on the Brits I cant for the life of me work out why as a nation we are so succesful at cycling ???.......rowing/boat type events i can see that being an island race......but cycling I bet the prats who were saying about " underachieving Brits " are feeling a bit daft..........19 odd m

I think its all too easy to turn round and say they,re all on drugs.............i just think they have a totally different outlook to sport than for instance us Brits......apart obviously from the massive population difference they virtually pick their athletes/gymnasts out from very young based on body type i was reading about that gymnast who just got a gold i forget his name he was picked out at 3 years old because he had unnatturally broad shoulders......by 6 and 7 he could do the cross thing on the rings !!.......Also they have a far stricter approach to sport than we do they dont see it

Ok thanks Born Hunter .....Does seem like common sense to award 3 for gold 2 for silver 1 for bronze...................but i spose that would be too straightforward !

Dont seem right to me......so if for instance France got 2 golds and nothing else..............but GB got 1 gold 15 silver and 15 bronze.......................France finish higher in the table !!!............Sounds a bit daft if you ask me.

Thought he was lucky to get the decision myself but its all good onwards and upwards................ gte have you got any idea how the scoring for the medals table works ?................for example GB are currently 11th with 2 gold 3 silver 4 bronze................yet Kazakstan who have 3 golds only are 8th .......surely 1 gold cant have more value than 3 silvers and 4 bronze.............any idea how it works ?
