And got the scars to prove it !.............The term " theres no bad dogs just bad owners "......has to be the most stupidly naive phrase anyone could ever of come up with !.......Anything born of nature has the ability to be born good......or bad...........physical or mental. That's surely where good ownership comes to the fore though Gnash, In that you just wouldn't put people (especially children) or other dogs in the situation where your dog can cause harm, of course there are "bad" dogs and it's you as the owner to make the right decisions for both the dog and others.

Thats as may be in dogs bred with no purpose..........but dogs bred for purpose throughout the generations nature will often play a far bigger part than nurture. Enjoying reading your views Gnash The above post contradicts the earlier one about todays staffs being far removed from the more driven type of yesteryear,is this more a reference to the pits?cheers Dave Hello Dave,im of the belief that the further you breed a dog away from the purpose it was bred the more problems you will have until such times as it ceases to be a dog bred for that purpose and therefore becomes easy to ma

I love a trophy photo. Should've used a recurve though, compounds are cheating! what kick would you get out of it?? For a minute i thought that question was asking old Hong Kong Fuey " what kick would you give it "

Of course it can........but common sense tells you dogs bred for work are likely to produce more and better than dogs bred to sit on the sofa. I disagree but I respect your opinion as I'm sure you respect mine If your trying to say genetic inherritance stands for nothing in a working animal...............theres an old saying i like " i cannot be a fool to my own intelligence "....so no sorry i cant respect your opinion......listen to it yes, respect it no.

Thats as may be in dogs bred with no purpose..........but dogs bred for purpose throughout the generations nature will often play a far bigger part than nurture. So why is it then that the dog men on here buy lurchers or terriers from working lines then after a season pts because it hadn't made the mark? Because nature doesnt build things perfect.......if it was only about the upbringing why bother breeding worker to worker at all.

Huan72 i probably have a bit of a bias view as i admire the working ability of a pit bull far more than the pet side so i might not be the best person to ask.....i never kept them indoors around kids they were in kennels/runs as were anyone elses i knew who admired the breed like i did.......i know and can fully accept some of them make great house dogs and are as reliable as any other breed around kids, they can have enough intelligence and self confidence not to get worked up like many dogs can..........but......if im perfectly honest i dont think the breed as a whole make good house dogs....

Good for you its great to see folk willing to do research before jumping in feet first.....i was the same as you i was on the verge of getting a bird a few years ago but having done the research you are about to do realised i was biting off more than i could chew and i probably wouldnt of done the bird justice....... i still find it a fascinating subject and one i hope to come back to at some stage of life........all the best to you theres some great knowledge and decent people on here...for a window shopper like me this is one of the most interesting sections of this forum so whether you get

I just think these people talking about " staffs ".....( i refuse to call the poor little things staffies ) ......are making silly comparisons......when it comes to bite and drive most of todays staffs couldnt break a crisp packet they are so far removed from their history it really has no relevance they hold virtually no combat/athlete traits whatsoever........i think when the media and people in general refer to bull breeds being dangerous most are referring to the pit bulls bullmastiffs and crosses of such i dont think anyone really thinks a purebred stafford is any more danger to kids tha

Whats biting hard ?.......enough force to make a hole and walk away ?.......or enough intensity to work the hold until something gives ? With every respect Dan you are making some very naive comments.......like many bull breed owners today i hope for your sake that naievity doesnt end up costing you.
-
......Dogs bite hard because they want to....simple. Id rather be bitten by 100lb Labrador with a head like a medicine ball..............than a snipey narrow headed 30lb fully charged pit bull !
-
Couldnt agree more...........the laws of nature dictate nothing is born 100% perfect the responsibility of a dog owner is to make your dog AS perfect as it can be.......but it will NEVER be perfect nature just doesnt work like that...........im a big defender of the bull terrier breeds as they played a big part in my life but i never lost sight of what they were capable of if and when nature decided to show its ugly side.......ive seen what an intensely driven highly focussed dog can do and have the odd scar to prove it unfortunately...........the staffs and suchlike are obviously very watered

Why do some folk find it so difficult to have a conversation without analysing someones personality .....some very odd fuckers out there thats for sure ! The reason is, you're always giving it the large one about being from the East End, apples and pears and all that old cobblers yet you are as green as f@cl if you can't see what happened here. You might've watched Eastenders once but that's it. Unless you're 70+ I'd say that you'd have spent a good amount of time in the company of Indians if you were from the East End. As you are one for making sure questions are answered when you're a

I hope you don't ever get called up for jury service. I see a miscarriage of justice happening. Your supposed to reply to a question with an answer.....or dont you have one ? You're supposed to read every reply in a thread so that you keep up with what's going on. Or haven't you bothered to do that? As I've already said.... I don't think he touched her. I think she said it to justify her hitting an old man. Which she did to show off to her friends and because he was Indian. Are you sure you're from London? I know the East End is full of mugs who make out that they are proper c
