seen that..bit of a headcase lol Seen a doc on him read his book sweet agony. spent over 20 years of his life in prison. Had 10 pro fights won 6 lost 3 drew 1.The british heavyweight John L Gardner beat him in 6 rounds. Died in 2007 2 kids he had are serving life in prison for murder. That man was a stark raving lunatic, he could fight in his heyday. Can't believe quit while challenging for the Commonwealth title. i didnt see the fight but read he turned his back and quit. Reading the book etc he came across as a lunatic. Spoke to Johnny Gardiner many times about that fight he said

Good boy Jason yes Mitchell is going places, look out for another lad Miles Shinkwin whos coming along nicely and of course Tony Conquest is another of Jasons fighters........Jimmy trained Jason and his brother Roy at the Black Lion back years ago.......a little story that was editted out of the book was when Chris Eubanks brother got beat by Roy twice on the spin and a week later turned up at the Black Lion demanding Jimmy train him........................to which he was abrupty shown the door after saying " do you know who my brother is "

The fact he was where he was would suggest to me he probably wasnt the full ticket

Stone me your keen its only been out a month Very keen...pre ordered mine...well worth a read Should of got yourself down here mate he was signing them in the Trad could of got it all personalised

In my mind its common sense to have ex fighters as judges.........plenty of things that go on in a boxing ring completely go over the head of people who have never boxed...........same as football referees it staggers me they dont encourage more ex pros to become referees......people who know the game inside out can see things others cant....stands to reason really. Ricky Burns trains down here these days as you say he,s a straight up kid he,s completely embarrassed at that decision but you take the rough with the smooth and hope it evens out over time hopefully Smith will one day end up o

Not sure i could of stood up there and just watched like they was.....................id of at least spat at it or something !

Perfect thanks Fireman....just needed a bit of reassurance before taking the plunge makes sense to mix it up with natural as well i,ll give it a go.....apparently that bloke Tuffty wraps sparkly tinsel round his i think thats going a bit far but thats it im on the case now thanks

I thought George Groves told it about right,i had Abraham just nicking it but a point or 2 either way i wouldnt of argued......but to give Smith only 1 or 2 rounds in a fight with no knockdowns i thought was disgusting...........on effective scoring punches i thought Abraham shaded it but Smiths persistence was enough to give him a shout he surprised me i only really had him down as a domestic level fighter but he certainly came to the front last night.......throughout the fight i thought Abraham looked absolutely dead at the weight, then aftewards they said he had dropped 20lb in the last 2 we

Any of you folk use artificial Xmas trees in your aviaries ?.....Ive been using bits of conifer for ages now but it only lasts a couple of months before it go,s all brown and manky looking so im thinking of giving xmas trees a go.....do you put the whole trees in as they are or just place individual branches around the place ? .....im presuming to clean them i can just take them out and put the hose on them ?

Saw it earlier mate i got some clever little f****r round to get it on a " stream " for me.....what a pain in the arse kept starting and stopping i got to hurry up and get back on my feet this watching on a screen larks driving me mad

Hard to see Smith getting past the mid rounds if Abraham is on his game........think the only other Brit on the card is Macklin.

What do you class as a plastic fan though ?.....Somebody from out of the local area ? someone who doesnt go to matches ?......or both ? And if both, what does it matter who a person follows......not everyone is a hardcore fan of a club i dont know why folk call them plastic fans. People who attach themself to succesful clubs or come out the woodwork when their club has a bit of success i wouldnt call them fans at all id just call them sorts infatuated pricks with no backbone who happen to read the back pages of newspapers !
-
Spoke to a few pals on their way home from the game reckoned we was unlucky not to nick a point we played reasonably well by all accounts.......... But i suppose if you cant beat Man Utd these days theres not much hope

Stone me your keen its only been out a month

You and me both....i nicked your bet Jimmy its going well so far....but you can bet your bollocks the hammers will f**k it all up What a good player this Naysmith ive never paid much attention to him before, got to be the best Jock around at the moment surely.

Sad as it is Max people often reach their height of popularity once they,re dead !.....Ipswich idolised Robson enough to build a statue of him when he was alive rather than waiting till he was dead like Newcastle did...........Robson didnt make his name at Newcastle he just spent the last few years of his career there.....like i say folk often get all sentimental for someone once they are dead. Dalglish wasnt a scouser but he is idolised in the same way Mourinho is all clubs have their iconic figures ours is Bobby Moore of course but in more recent times Dicanio was adored, not in the same

I wish that helicopter would piss off .....of all the ways to watch a game without paying !

Thats why ive avoided the whole book generation thing they are hardly a rounded view of someones character are they....." ive been shot 10 times...stabbed 25 times...won hundreds of bareknuckle fights..... but theres something i dont really want anyone to know so we,ll skip over that part of my life "
-
The way of most teams visiting Old Trafford is to keep it tight for the first 60 minutes then try and nick something later on. Big Sams way is to try and nick something in the first 4 minutes then lock the doors for the next 86 minutes !
-
The trouble with iconic figures is they cloud our judgement we almost feel guilty for wanting them out even though its the right thing to do.....Robson/Newcastle.....Dalglish/Liverpool....Clough/Forest etc......it shouldnt tarnish their reputation or our admiration for them......if Chelsea drop to mid table will they want Mourinho out,of course they will thats perfectly normal but it wont stop him being an iconic figure at the club....as it hasnt with the others mentioned.
-
That would depend if you accept him as being part of the human race, plenty of folk dont. As regards pro/bareknuckle its a silly comparison to make nobody would choose to fight bareknuckle instead of turning pro its just something you fall into if you either cant get or are not good enough to get a pro licence.

so where do you rate Lenny McLean ? Could he have went far in the pro game? Lennie was near unbeatable without gloves....with gloves he probably wouldnt of made it as a pro, particularly when you think Johnny Waldron knocked him out in the first round twice and he was only a southern area title standard light heavyweight.....Lennie was a fearsome fighting man but he wasnt a boxer. was he ever defeated bare knuckle? Have you ever heard of any pros going into the bare scene and doing well?Yes the first time he fought pretty boy shaw he got beatI think the fella is asking about bareknuckle......n

What was the story with Bobby Robson i cant remember now ?......If not for the fact he became a national treasure would it of been seen as " bad craic " ? Its a bit like with our Bobby Moore, there were fans saying they wanted to see the back of him a good few years before he actually went yet today you would be stabbed round here for saying a bad word about him ......everything bad go,s out the window when a sportsman takes on iconic status. By the way if im not wrong Newcastle had the highest average attendance in history for a club outside the top flight with 48k in 2007 whenever it
