so where do you rate Lenny McLean ? Could he have went far in the pro game? Lennie was near unbeatable without gloves....with gloves he probably wouldnt of made it as a pro,particularly when you think Johnny Waldron knocked him out in the first round twice and he was only a southern area title standard light heavyweight.....Lennie was a fearsome fighting man but he wasnt a boxer.

The black guy Bert Cooper was a good pro in his day,he was only ever a pumped up cruiserweight but fought for a world heavyweight title......went on to become a bit of a journeyman sadly but still shows the gap between pro and street !

Its certainly a sign of how low Man Utd have sunk when we West Ham are going into a game at their place worrying what our strike force is going to be !!......However i dont get carried away i think we,re maybe being a touch presumptious thinking we are going to be doing a lot of attacking.....players of the quality of Rooney/Di Maria/Van Persie/Falcao have the ability to keep us long enough on the back foot to not get ahead of ourself and just make sure we do the basics well. Downing has had a new lease of life from somewhere i know that much !

My little West Ham are proof that it doesnt always pay to get a kid into the academy of the " bigger clubs ".....infact until somethings brought in place to force clubs to have a certain amount of English kids he,ll probably have a better chance with a lesser club..............good luck to him

While i admit to being one of those pushy parents who are shit themself ....it was certainly nothing to do with ego,my boy signed schoolboy forms with Leyton Orient and probably had the talent to make a decent pro unfortunately he just didnt have the hunger and desire...... i just couldnt understand that myself and we fell out over it but i think its the most natural thing in the world to want to encourage our kids to succeed in something we love ourself......we just need to know where to draw the line and i didnt unfortunately.You say your lads not a natural but does a kid have to be ?......

Man will always have the desire to test himself......and to test the animals he owns/breeds..............we can skim over that with morals and principals all we like.......but it still remains and the proof is there for all to see.

Im a neutral so couldnt give a shit either way.....but having just checked a website it shows season to season Sunderland have not had a bigger average attendance than Newcastle this millenium !.... infact in only 3 of them years have Newcastle dropped below 50k whereas Sunderland have been as low as 27k and 28k .......just as well you put " IMO " in capital letters Max

Understandable point mate, you just have to be honest about what's sits right with ya.....now that may have no logic but that's how it is. To put it into prospective a bit of just what this yank was attempting to do, I once went with a mate to shoot a sheep that had been injured (many, many years ago) so we grab it and put a .22 rimfire pistol to its head.......Bang, the bullet just bounced off from point blank......we had to place the muzzle at a very precise place behind the ear to get the bullet into the brain. Quite often the telling thing about rival clubs is what the neutral thinks and which club your average away fan will make the effort to go to......like it or not Max when most fans around the country think of the North East they think of Newcastle and for that reason a lot of fans who pick and choose their away matches will pick the Newcastle game over Sunderland....for lots of reasons.....that certainly applies to a lot of fans of London clubs anyway.

First few things you need to be asking yourself is how long you intend to spend there....and if you see it as an investment or purely a second home. Ive spent the last 10 years hopping from place to place started off in Malaga and lost money,Spain isnt the nice easy going place it was years ago when,we left there it was becoming like something out of the former Soviet Union !.....then bought a big old barn just outside Bordeaux in France,beautiful scenery but a bit too remote,did a fair bit to it and came out a bit in front moneywise.....then bought a house on part of a vineyard near Alvor

Totally agree with that......its human nature to think our way is the best way we all do it.........but over time when you get a more rounded view of sport and hunting as a whole and can seperate the two you start to respect other methods different to your own with an acceptance that human beings will ultimately make their own choices based on their own understanding and thats how it should be.
