  1. I felt sorry for her she looked a shy little thing totally out of her depth......not for me womens boxing.
  2. Look at that Charles Martin fight as an example.....also on that show was Macklin v Rose...George Groves,Lee Selby,Jamie Mcdonnel,Ohara Davies,Cheeseman,Benn. When Fury fought the geezer the other week id never heard of anybody on the show except Fury ! Joshuas resume is far better than any other heavyweight....but the risk in that is you might lose fights......again,viewing figures tell their own story about Hearn.
  3. That was a good night of boxing last night,i still say for top domestic fight the York Hall takes some beating. Ted Cheeseman is a very tough lad,durable,rugged.....but he will have a short career if he doesnt start respecting whats coming back at him he thinks he can walk through opponents and for that reason i agree i think European will be his level....likewise Benns boy he is going to be in some exciting fights but he wont go beyond British/European level.....ive said a few times i think those 2 lads biggest fight could well end up being against each other down the line. Watched
  4. You are aware that Eddie Hearn is likely to be the greatest boxing promoter this country has ever had....he has taken the sport to its height of popularity in Britain and is now doing what Frank Warren couldnt.....B level fighters are now getting paid A level fighters money because of Eddie Hearn......ask any young British fighter who he would like to sign with and they will all say Hearn......you see boxing from an armchair critics viewpoint but for people actually involved as fighters/trainers/journeymen,even paying punters... Eddie Hearn is doing a fantastic job that no other British promot
  5. Aint you the chap who was in Tonys in Waltham Abbey the other week.....you need to sort your taste buds out...and for f**k sake dont tell him you thought it was Parsley Sauce ?
  6. I can take or leave eels but thats the best way to have them for me stewed on a plate of pie and mash......eels was poverty food, this was a desperately poor area after the war and eels were seen as cheap nutritious food.....its hard to believe its survived to the modern day.....i remember watching the blokes down Billingsgate chop up these energetic slithering creatures that we all thought at the time was such wonderful grub.....until they declared that the Thames as a river was biologically dead and was described in the media as " a badly managed open sewer "......that slowed down the popular
  7. No its not....there is Parsley in it but its not Parsley sauce like you put on your fish.
  8. The Royal Oak was the boxing gym it was on the Barking Rd though not on Rathbone St... the pie shop you are thinking of was Ollies....dont know if you remember he used to have a parrot in the shop that would be constantly saying " gizza bit " ?....his daughter used to look gorgeous stood there with all blood down her nice white apron cutting the heads off the eels there was something quite sexy about it !.....the Raffy brings back a lot of childhood memories do you remember the Sarsaparilla stall ?....we used to call if the Raffy cough mixture....me and my brother used to nick bottles and keep
  9. While these idiots deserve any rough treatment they get.....i couldnt do it.....my first thoughts were that it just didnt look right....if he put his hands on my mrs like that id be wanting a quiet word with him but i suppose the position these dopes put themselves in means they cant complain when things cut up a bit rough.
  10. Ive had stick for it in the past but ive always said my friends are more important to me than my family,i chose my friends i didnt choose my family.....i have a lot of acquaintances and general pal types of people but i only have a handful of true friends who id do anything for,i love them dearly and am totally committed to them having studied their characters over many years and been through a lot together.....must admit i never thought id ever say it but my ol woman has become one of my best friends i always thought the " shes my mate as well as my wife " thing was a corny pile of nonsense b
  11. Nathans is gone as well now......the only Robins ive been in is Wanstead i always feel like a traitor if i dont use Manzies......i even get their take away stuff when i fancy it ? You ever tried the one in the food court at Lakeside ?....i forget what its called but tried it out a while back wasnt bad at all.
  12. Not that it,ll make a difference as they are all a shower of c**ts but id sooner have a pm who has lived a bit of life rather than these dry lunches who cant say the word " poo " without thinking they,re living dangerously !
  13. All the East End pie shops have their own liquor recipes their staff are sworn to secrecy.....i couldnt eat it with gravy its the liquor that makes it i dont think the pies differ much from shop to shop but i can easily tell Manzes liquor from Cookes for instance. Green Lurchers your the foody chap if im not wrong whats your favorite pie shop mate do you have one ?
  14. oh i know Holloway Rd reasonably well i,ll have an ask around maybe its not who i was thinking it was.
  15. Ive heard the name mentioned before is it over Putney way im not sure, not really an area i know that well......theres loads of personal trainers popping up nowadays mate some are worth listening to and some are not....like anything i suppose.
  16. Never mind ripping tendons off the bone just as long as you dont waste your gym membership ? The " no guts no glory " routine is great to have but at this stage it really doesnt pay you,ll just injure yourself.....honestly mate start training tendons/ligaments it basically involves lifting heavier weight but in much more restricted movements.....just do it every 3rd session or something if you stick at training you,ll reap the rewards later on.
  17. That doesnt really narrow it down mate......saying " do you know a boxer called Roy from Bethnal Green "......is like saying....." do you know a Jew called Avi from Stamford Hill " ? Editted to add...its ok mate i dont need to know who he is i just thought if his picture was on the wall he might of been a well known fighter i just didnt recognise....sorry for prying its none of my business thinking about it ?
  18. Adding weight is a part of training i have constantly changed my mind about over the years i am now convinced that at least for my own body i have it sussed and having spoken with other chaps in similar scenarios they agree and have adjusted their training likewise. The first plateau beginners to lifting usually suffer is around 3 months when they can no longer continually add weight.....and my belief is that their ligaments and tendons cannot keep up with their musculature.....a balanced physique is like an engine where everything is useful to each other and does its own job in getting m
  19. I agree these apps are good for beginners to training but i equate them to a cab driver learning the roads with a satnav.....they do the brainwork for you and stop you gaining real knowledge......and also the more accomplished you become you ARE going to pick up injuries, you ARE going to have days where your not up to it.....an app cant tell you how to train around injury you have to learn about your own body......we used to have these 3 high tec gadgets back in the day.....pen,paper,clock......they took care of most things.
  20. As a youngster we can eat anything thats not nailed down but without constant activity over years our metabolism slows right down.....starving for a day is bad news though if you cant get enough food on board try meal replacements or supplements.
  21. Welcome to my world....im still convinced theres something out there i can be world champion at ?
  22. The chap on the left Is Tony Lane the shop owner i dont recognise the other chap
  23. Im guessing your grandads not Tony or John Conteh...who is that mate ?
  24. He,s a good lad Tony Lane started from nothing and done well for himself, although he,s at risk of turning that gaff into a celebs hangout....great grub even though im a Manzes man myself........oh and Pie & Mash with gravy is blasphemy !...whats the point....i mean just whats the point ?
  25. It was a sales pitch mate....Bob Arum submitted a tender....nothing more.
