Lab it's the word Permission that stops most walking the land during the day but you can act dumb and say you are out with the family pet if the farmer isn't the bad type then people can always ask when they get caught. I got my first ever permission by getting caught off the farmers 2 collies as we had a ferret to ground and they wouldn't leave us but the old farmer was a good chap and gave us permission there and then he even got us a few other farms later that season and I'll admit to any one that I shed a tear when he passed away as he was a likeable fellow .   2. Be nice to see some pics of how they turn out, I have had a few unusual crosses in my time , the last 1 being a irish wolfhound x bullmastiff which I gave to a lad for tracking the big reds on his estate in scotland as I didn't have the kind of work it needed but it is excelling up there
  3. What was the point in this thread then mate. Reading it you can clearly see that its a very good idea to walk the ground for the safety of your dog and you've just decided you wont be, strange?... He is too lazy It is the best way to get the lay of the land, I have ran the dogs on paid jobs where we couldn't walk it first for obvious reasons and the dogs have picked up some bad injuries

  9. Pleased to hear you are thinking of stopping in the sport , It's never easy burying a dog whether a pet or worker and I'll let you know when I've done the lining of the bitch so you can make your mind up then

  13. I used to have a few ferrets but my old track bitch killed them amongst other things on the allotment , but I still have the odd days out with my mates but leave the old bitch at home

  16. Although I was correct as well Phantom mate , but I couldn't name a gun under 1ft/lbs that would be any use unless you are throwing it at them
  17. At 2 he will still learn, for a beginner I'd recommend a collie/grey or beddy/grey as they are easy to train and enter. I'll be using my mates beddy dog over 1 of my grey bitches so there will be a pup here if you want
