  1. from my own limited experience of them, i found them to be great wee lamping dogs, with ferreting i think thet're fine if things are moving along fairly quickly, but they do suffer if its bitterly cold and they're standing about for too long, on hares, i've only ever caught 2 with whippets during the day, i ran more at night on the lamp but never got any , they literally ran circles round the dogs, good craic but. i've caught 6 foxes in my life , all caught and killed by the same show bred whippet dog, 19 1/2 inches, 26 pound ( exactly the same as my present whippet), i think he took 1 bad bi
  2. have to admit i do mine myself as pups ( 10 euro per pup) and thats it, never had any problems. its been years from i've even spoke to a patronizing, money grabbing b*****d...... sorry meant to type vet there.
  3. smashing looking pup mate, is she using that bedlington nose yet ?
  4. they're show breeders frank but i've had dogs from them before that were excellant workers and game with it, one dog inparticular took fox single handed with barely a mark on him, always pinned in a throat hold by the time i got there, he just had the knack for it. sorry to hear about your's mate, good luck with the suluki x.
  5. not my dog but found this pic of a fairly rare liver straight half bedlington x greyhound, cracker looking dog. i bred several litters of the 1/2 breds and 3/4 whippet x beddys many years ago, very good noses and some of them never got the hang of the lamp because of that, they couldn't resist putting that nose to the ground. as a moocher upper they are hard to beat though.
  6. barnesmore kennels, co down.
  7. a show bred bitch but from the same line that i've worked very hard in the past, hopefully she will start to earn her keep this coming season, good strong hunting instinct and not a nervous bone in her body.
  8. i enjoyed the his "heriage of the dog" book. other than that i know nothing about him.
  9. you beat me to it there, the ould granda loved them too. don't know about tripe n' onions, but my da says when out on the piss they use to eat pickled elders in the bar . ( pickled elders = cow teats )
  10. with a good kennel and plenty of straw kenneling whippets outside isn't an issue, they're hardier than they look. this is a couple that i owned, show bred but good workers, the dog took fox single handed, which i believe isn't as rare as i once thought it was.
  11. second that. just started having a go at it myself, mainly one piece jobs, hazel, holly and hawthorn, havn't found any blackthorn as yet. must say i do enjoy it.
  12. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=24...063388&q=boxing great vid, excellant sound track. there's a few others on the right hand side also, hope yous enjoy it , i did.
  13. cheers paid , don't know what i was doing wrong.
  14. this was a good wee whippet i owned many moons ago, he was a half decent ferreting dog, though admittedly i rarely netted up, was more for bolts. the cold did bother them if had to wait a long time, but the same dog regularly lamped in all weathers with no problems. show bred 19 1/2 inches 26 lb, a very game wee dog who took several foxes single handed, i know they look fraile but its not a word i would use to describe them. when i've no longer the strenght to walk these bulls, i would'nt mind ending my days with a good whippet. sorry pics did'nt come out for some reason ( they appeared in
  15. thats brillant lads, thank you.
  16. been meaning to have a go at this for a while now, could anyone recommend a good book or better still a web site, that would take you through the process step by step, thanks.
  17. i give them eggs, shell in all, once a week, never had any probs
  18. this link will give you an idea of how simple they are. http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/spv1963/myhom...e/business.html
  19. personally i think night express is a beauifull dog, there's the difference between a roach back and a slight arch over the lion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> obviously that should have read loin, i think i'm starting to dote.
  20. mick, i use one for my patterdale, also used the flirt pole, both great ways of keeping/getting a dog in shape.
  21. also have to add, that i've never seen another terrier with teeth as large as a bedlingtons, they certainly have the tools for the job, if your have one the right size, being very narrow fronted they can get most places. personally i think night express is a beauifull dog, there's the difference between a roach back and a slight arch over the lion.
  22. full sister of cochyn another of cochyn son of the bitch above, out of a middleton bred lakeland. unfortunately the geeky looking harry potter like punter is me in my youth.
  23. as far as i'm concerned if they work, then they're working terriers, end of story. good point but jack, will be in touch mate, all the best.
  24. hope your don't mind me sticking this up dave, have always admired your bitck from the year book. dave's bitch jade.
